I created a selection, filled it and put text on top of it in a 72 ppi file and copied the group to an image with much higher resolution. I transformed the shape and text to make it bigger. Does doing this affect quality?

the default setting is 1920 - far too low for me
ok it can be supressed on a session basis, but the number of clicks to acheive anything keeps creeping up and I'd rather not see it at all - AFAIK there is no way to suppress it permanently, but the default setting can be increased in the registry
I have my setting at 8000
the registry key is 'ImportSize' in Options > Filters [ verified in designer pro X]
changing registry settings is only for those who know what they are doing and who backup first
can I lower the resolution of a single layer, without lowering the resolution of the other layers in one psd file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported a shape file drawn with a utm signature with the dbf and shx files associated with it.The field map looks exactly like it is supposed to but when i dimension different places the dim are in what i think are utm measurements( ie .0069).When i draw a line at say 200 feet the line is astronomical in comparison. I can't seem to figure out where to change the scale.I have never used the auto map before and am using the trial version.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have taken 500 photos (in highest resolution, JPG, each ~5 MBytes) and want to crop them individually. With fewer ones I opened eg 30 at once, made my changes (eg cropping) and exported/saved these images via an action. But this method -- esp. opening the files -- took some time even on a "faster" computer, 16 GB RAM.Now the idea (or wish ):
1st step: decrease the dimensions of the images (maybe 840 x 540)
2nd: opening eg 60 at once (much faster...)
3rd: editing/cropping picture by picture
and in the last step: let PS do these changes on the original / high resolution images automatically..Are there plugins or other methods (or programs) for doing this?
Few years ago I tried programs like URL.....But the handling for selecting the area to be cropped was not very comfortable as it is in PS
Illlustrator CC is exporting at a lower resolution than Illustrator 6 with the same settings.

View 5 Replies View Related I'm attaching a document, created in CS6 that is giving me grief when trying to open and use in lower versions. (have created documents for a group of people with various versions)
Have created two rectangle shapes,(white stroke, no fill, shape tool not path) each living on it's own layer, have added ancor points to then delete a portion of the rectangle creating needed opening at the top.
I would like the end user to be able to use his direct selection tool, to be able to increase or decrease the size of the opening as he needs. (imagine if you will, typing a name in the provided opening... different length names need different size openings)
When saved (maximim compatibility on) and opened in CS2 I receive this message: unknown data has been encountered reading layer (layer xxxxx) will be discarded... continue?
The artwork is all still there, but I loose the ability to direct select (ancor points) the shapes. Can move it around as a whole, but that wasn''t the perk.

I had an 18MP picture (3456x5184 pixles) and I was trying to fit it into an A1 canvas of a 100 dpi so I used free transformation to scale it down. Later on, I have decided to make the canvas of 150 dpi instead of 100. Would increasing the resolution now make my picture look pixelated on the canvas? I know that the original photo would look alright on a 150 dpi.
I'm using photoshop CS2.
I recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.
I am really new to illustrator and I need to know the answer to this question fast. If I made a weird shape with 5 different lines how would I fill it in? Nothing really happens when I select the lines and then select a color.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a pretty simple design. Some text and shapes all expanded and turned into outlines. I have one shape that was created by using a clipping mask. I am putting a vector distress pattern over the whole design (like I usually do and it works fine) well I merge them together and everything is completely fine except the shape created with the clipping mask it disappears..
more info: i actually released the clipping mask and I am still having the same problem with this object, it disappears when merged with the vector distress pattern.
How can i outline a visual shape made of a group of elements (vector shapes) without outlining the individual elements or merging them togather. I would normally go by merging them togather but client requested they be unmerged.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Live Corners feature is welcome in Illustrator 17.1, but I find that it works inconsistently. One issue that I've isolated is that scaling a path makes the live corners disappear.
To reproduce:
Create a rounded rectangle
Select the path
Click the direct selection tool to verify that Live Corners are present
Click the selection tool
Scale the rounded rectangle (say drag up from the scale point in the middle of the bottom side)
Click the direct selection tool - where are the live corners?
Is that a bug? Is that a design choice?
When I import my shape file into my drawing I am not getting the text file to come in with the roads.

However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like the AutoCAPS setting in Mtext, however I occasionally use lower-case text when I am typing, such '2"x4" STUDS' . . . now, I do have a problem with AutoCAPS though:
Example - I copy '2"x4" STUDS" and paste it into another Mtext and the lower-case 'x' is automatically pasted as an uppercase character.
Are there any settings for AutoCAPS, or maybe for the copy/paste command that I can change to allow lower-case characters to be pasted into text when the AutoCAPS is on? It is a bit of a hassle to turn off AutoCAPS and turn it back on.
I can't believe this is still an issue in CS6. When you have multiple text layers stacked near or in between each other, its impossible to lock the layer so that it can no longer be selected. Even if the layer is locked, the TYPE tool is still able to select it. This makes its a super pain in the tail to edit text near each other. Is there a way to make the text layers lock and NOT be selectable?
Instead of locking a layer and not being able to select it with the type tool, a pop-up telling us that its locked come up?
I'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.
