Is there a way to disable confirmation dialogue pop-ups such as "are you sure you wanna replace the existing file?" and "are you sure you wanna close this without saving it?"
Is there also a way to avoid being prompted every single time I save a jpeg, to precise the jpeg quality .....

I used to be able to just double click on a layout tab and change it. This dialogue box can't seem to edit it if the drawing is open. We use the layout the tab as current revision of drawing.
I know I accidentally click on yes before when it asked me if I want to use the dialogue box to edit layout tabs but can't seem to find anything on how to disable it.
how to lock in a dialogue box . I have tried to lock in the tools dialogue box to the panel on the side of the window, but everytime I select it it disappears. Sometimes it goes behind the panel. In the help screen it says you can drag a dialogue box over a "Blue" line and it will anchor it there. I cant see any blue line? There is some text that say "you can drag a dialogue box to this panel", but when you drag it, it does not stay there.

I am running ubuntu if that makes a difference. I can still see the layers tools in the application bar at the top but can't do what I need to without the actuqal tool box for layers.

Upgraded to 2.8 with total deletion of the Gimp folder to try to address this.
File / Open Recent works fine.
File / New etc same all good...
File / Open has a problem.
Once that window opens the product is hung.
There is no window to type the file name in, and I cannot click on any of the disk drive names.
I must admit that I have a good number of network and usb as well as physical drives. I do not think that any have changed names, but it seems clear that something like a path change is responsible?
How to repair a stuck File/Open dialogue.
Time was, I used to open the GIMP and the Layers dialogue would just be there for me. Now I always have to open it again, every time I start the program. Tell me what's changed?

-In 2012 when pressing "s", it would create sketch.
-In 2013 when pressing "s", it needs enter/spacebar to confirm that sketch creation.
I can't seem to find a setting that changes this, or a thread here on the forums describing anything about this. Only threads about shortcuts suddenly not working anymore, which is not the problem for me at this moment.
I have created an action in Illustrator CS5 that ungroups a radar graph and deletes the axis lines. And I would like to run this action on a batch of 100 files. The problem I am having is that when I run the action, I get the following pop-up message at the ungroup command:
If I click OK, the action continues. But, as part of a batch, it becomes a bit tedious to have to click "OK" 100 times, and it sort of defeats the purpose of running the action as a batch.
I see options in the batch window to override action "Save As" and "Export" commands, but is there a way to have the batch override this confirmation message? I suspect there may be a way to do this with a script, but I am not proficient enough with scripting yet to take that route.
I'm on MacOS 10.9 (Mavericks). Using GIMP 2.8.8 (lisanet edition).
GIMP has been installed for many years on my computers, but first since it runs natively (without x11 or xQuartz) have I finally and entirely switched to GIMP for my raster graphic work.
I really like GIMP and I'm working on expanding my knowledge and respect this excellent programme very much. There are of course a couple of oddities when you are used to Photoshop (until 3 months ago). I'm getting there. Though one issue sticks out:
The use of the eyedropper tool for example in the Color to Alpha Dialogue. First of all I'm aware about the difference between the Color Picker (set colour from image pixels) in the toolbox and the eyedropper. I'm writing here about the latter. It simply doesn't work at all. When I open Color to Alpha... and then click on the color field (by default it's white #ffffff) the Color to Alpha Color Picker opens. When I select here the Eyedropper tool (Click the eyedropper, then select a color anywhere on your screen to select that color.) the following scenario happens: the cursor doesn't indicate a particular function (stays as standard pointer) - when clicking anywhere on my screen both dialogues, Color to Alpha and Color to Alpha Color Picker disappear (respectively they slip behind the main GIMP interface). I can't select any color! And when I manage to get the two dialogue windows back into focus, I have to wait a certain amount of time before any pressing of OK or Cancel shows any response.
Sometimes a random color gets selected but this is beyond my influence.
I guess it's a weak spot of the new native GIMP without any X11 wrapping. The windows managements has several weaknesses (i.e. GIMP/Hide). I also thought that it might be caused by the Single-Window Mode. But even without that the problem remains. All in all it's a very important function and without it the workflow involved gets very tiresome.
"Image > Print Size" really IS the command you are looking for.
The key is to pay attention to the units-of-measure shown on the Print Size dialogue box:- The "Width" and "Height" values under Print Size are displayed in real-world units (inches, mm, etc.), not image pixels.- The "Resolution" values are displayed in pixels-per-unit.- You cannot change your image's pixel dimensions (aka scale the image) from the Print Size dialogue. That's what the "Scale Image" command is for.Remember the relation between pixel and print sizes is:(print size) = (pixel size) / (print resolution)
When you change the image's print resolution, of course the real-world size (the "width" or "height" shown in the Print Size dialog) of your image will update to reflect the new print resolution -- that value is calculated from your image's actual pixel size and whatever resolution value you just entered. This is totally normal behavior -- in fact, it's expected. If you change an image's resolution from, say, 150 pixels/inch to 75 pixels/inch, this doubles the print size of your image but only the print size; the image's pixel size remains precisely the same as before. (You can confirm this by comparing "Image > Canvas Size..." before and after changing the resolution.)
And as others have stated, if you're using the image for Web viewing then its print resolution has absolutely zero effect on how it will appear onscreen (print resolution only affects, well, actual printing), in which case you'll want to use the "Scale Image" command to actually scale your image larger or smaller.
I am working with literally hundreds of images. All of them either are now or will be jpgs. All I need to do is open them up, resize them and then:
1. Cut the canvas size down only on the Y axis and center the image
or
2. Increase the canvas size up on the Y axis and not center the image which requires then sizing the resulting single layer to image size
After that, I need to save it as a different file name and close it. That's it. No other functions, no other options, no other possibilities exist. This is the ONLY way that this job can be done, these images must end up in this format and size.
Again I am doing this to hundreds of files. I am being slowed down a LOT by all the foolish YAPs about "JPG can't handle this blank layer do you want to export, blah blah blah" and of course "You're saving as a jpg so what quality do you want to use?"
Speed is my concern. I don't care about the options because I don't have options for this project. I just want to get it done. All this clicking the chain to break the link between X and Y and then mousing to the Resize button and then hitting Enter twice but only if I sized the canvas up and using the layer options to resize it if I sized it down if extremely time consuming. I want to use the keyboard as much as humanly possible...all this mousing is creating carpal tunnel and the tabbing to buttons is stupid due to the 5000 tab stops on each popup.
Some of this I can accept...I suppose. But is there any way to disable the popups for the JPG warnings when I save? Again I am not wanting to discuss why I should be saving in XCF or the disadvantages of using JPG or anything else. I just want to disable the popups that are slowing this project down significantly.
When I use a tool (Eraser, Crop, Move, etc.) in GIMP, there is a little semi-transparent icon that shows near the bottom right of the cursor representing the tool I am currently using. Is there any way to disable this? I have been doing a lot of precision erasing and this really gets in my way.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wish to impose an image on to another. a foreground image onto a background image. Hence for the foreground image I need the background (of the front image) to be transparent (alpha) which Ive done following this tutorial: [URL] .....
Note: the back colour is pure white (#FFFFFF)
However the issue arises that one of the people in the image is wearing a light blue shirt, hence when i follow the tutorial, it makes his shirt semi-transparent.
After much looking around i found this in the docs: [URL] ........
Which states: "It will attempt to preserve anti-aliasing information by using a partially intelligent routine that replaces weak color information with weak alpha information. In this way, areas that contain an element of the selected color will maintain a blended appearance with their surrounding pixels. "
However I dont want this, what i wish to happen is that anything is pure white is changed to alpha, and anything NOT pure white is left as is.
Hence it my understanding through the document quote above, the solution is to disable this ant-aliasing function as described in the quote

When saving as a .png file, there is an option to enable/disable "save resolution". What is this option for? I've tried Googling, but no luck due to many unrelated search results.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a cheap mouse and quite frequently while using the free select tool, one click will result in Gimp automatically connecting the current points to the beginning of the path. my mouse is to blame and I experience mouse issues in other programs too... mainly one click will result in double click actions.
so I was wonder how/if I can turn off the feature where double clicking would connect the path of the free select because I kinda have to refrain from using the free select tool because I don't get very far before it connects itself to the beginning.
When I go to save the image I am working on, the PNG Dialogue box is black , I mean that the radial and submit buttons show up but the rest is just black....avoid a total reinstall of my CS6 package.
This issue does not happen using the PSD or JPG save options either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD 2012 and when I try and start the 'ARRAY' command I do not get the popup dialogue box like in earlier versions. I remember recently having the same issue with the HATCH command, but this was solved by altering the 'HPDLGMODE' setting. I've looked for a similar setting for ARRAY but so far come up with nothing.
Any settings that will revive this dialogue box?
Autocad used to perform the LOFT command partially in the COMMAND LINE and additional properties could be setted in the DIALOGUE BOX.
I used to draw my lofted elements :
1. Pick sections in order
2. Following Guide, Path,...
3. Dialogue box ( sections smooth fit, ruled, normal to,...)
4. Volume was drawn.
Nowdays it's a bit more extended but in step 2 when u pick a path the volume is drawn immediately and I can't append additional properties like in step 3.

How do I get to the Loft dialogue box ?
I am using Lightroom to version 4.3. The export feature stopped working. When in the library module if I choose a file(s) and click export I do not get the export dialogue box. Lightroom basically locks up until I press the escape key. Interestingly if I right click on an image, go to export and chose a preset it works? Do I need to reinstall Lightroom and If so how do I do this.

We have installed the Adobe Camera Raw 6.5. Both computers are running the same versions of each software, but I don't get the dialogue box on the tower which ask to Edit a Copy which preserves the changes made in LR4.

Recently, however, I have been unable to generate 32 bit images from the 'Merge to HDR Pro' process.
When I begin the process and select my files, the dialogue box I should see pop open to select 32 bit, 16 bit, etc. output options, does not open. Photoshop launches directly into the merge process, aligns the source photos, transforms, etc., and finally outputs a 16 bit image, which is opened in photoshop as if I had opened it from a source folder.
At no point in the process is the histogram of the new HDR photo displayed. I am unable to find any HDR preference pages where I could possibly change settings.
I am trying to record an Action where the dialogue box for Flatten/Cancel/Don't Flatten comes up. Flatten is the default selection but I would like a keyboard shortcut that allows me to select "Don't Flatten".

It insists on going to the Libraries Directory on my C: drive and 99% of my files are stored on my H: drive. Sometimes it's easy to get out of, other times I can't back up at all. Is there someway to gte the Open dialogue to simply go to My Computer instead?
