When I use a tool (Eraser, Crop, Move, etc.) in GIMP, there is a little semi-transparent icon that shows near the bottom right of the cursor representing the tool I am currently using. Is there any way to disable this? I have been doing a lot of precision erasing and this really gets in my way.

When I start to paint , I found that the tool icon can not follow up with the mouse.
I've created a script and bound it to an icon, then added the icon to the standard toolbar.
Everything works, but the script will (correctly) give an error message if it's run when no image is open.
The bound icon on the toolbar is always enabled, even if no image is open. Is there a way to have the icon disabled (grayed out) if no image is open?
Every time I start up Illustrator CC 17.1.0, I see this annoying, grammatically incorrect message. To top it off, when it disappears, the invisible notification area icon remains. And the kicker: when I close Illustrator, the icon still remains until I hover the mouse cursor on it.

What does this notification even mean? That I can change DPI in Windows settings?
I am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
The line tool icon has disappeared from the tool bar and I don't know how to re-activate it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with literally hundreds of images. All of them either are now or will be jpgs. All I need to do is open them up, resize them and then:
1. Cut the canvas size down only on the Y axis and center the image
or
2. Increase the canvas size up on the Y axis and not center the image which requires then sizing the resulting single layer to image size
After that, I need to save it as a different file name and close it. That's it. No other functions, no other options, no other possibilities exist. This is the ONLY way that this job can be done, these images must end up in this format and size.
Again I am doing this to hundreds of files. I am being slowed down a LOT by all the foolish YAPs about "JPG can't handle this blank layer do you want to export, blah blah blah" and of course "You're saving as a jpg so what quality do you want to use?"
Speed is my concern. I don't care about the options because I don't have options for this project. I just want to get it done. All this clicking the chain to break the link between X and Y and then mousing to the Resize button and then hitting Enter twice but only if I sized the canvas up and using the layer options to resize it if I sized it down if extremely time consuming. I want to use the keyboard as much as humanly possible...all this mousing is creating carpal tunnel and the tabbing to buttons is stupid due to the 5000 tab stops on each popup.
Some of this I can accept...I suppose. But is there any way to disable the popups for the JPG warnings when I save? Again I am not wanting to discuss why I should be saving in XCF or the disadvantages of using JPG or anything else. I just want to disable the popups that are slowing this project down significantly.
Is there a way to disable confirmation dialogue pop-ups such as "are you sure you wanna replace the existing file?" and "are you sure you wanna close this without saving it?"
Is there also a way to avoid being prompted every single time I save a jpeg, to precise the jpeg quality .....
I normally edit with the grid turned on. The rotation guides that show up while using the arbitrary rotation tool clash pretty badly with the grid and disrupt my workflow. Is there a way to turn them off?

I recently bought PSE 10.I have an Intuos 3 Wacom tablet and whenever I switch to the Eraser tool, in the brush preview icon (top left corner) I see this ~ type of a shape with narrow-pointy edges, indicating that the size-pen-pressure feature is on. This is always true, even when I switch off all the per-pressure options via the Brush tool.
how to control or at-least disable the pen-pressure feature while in the Eraser tool?
I`m using CS and recently developed a teaser. I can`t get the clone tool icon off the screen (when that tool is selected) and return to the size adjustable circle I have used up until now. Caps lock doesn`t help either.

I don't understand why Photoshop programmers are not listening to their users and considering requested features to perfect Photoshop...but concentrating more on, like adding yet another set of filters or more polygon shapes we don't need !
One of the most important tools in Photoshop, for me at least, is the LASSO SELECTION tool. I generally have at least 15 layers for a project, you can probably guess that the SELECTION tool is my best friend.
The most frustrating thing using Photoshop is : the mouse double-click to close the SELECTION. You have no idea how many hundreds of times for the last 10 years I've cursed the Mother-F out of Photoshop...and time wasted on re-selecting again...
Don't advise me to modify my mouse double-click speed, or using the pen tool to select and reconverting to work path...those are not THE SOLUTION and you know it ! I've hoped for years now, for a new feature in every new version of PS preferences to disable the selection double-click.
When working with Paths in photoshop, I have developed a work flow that revolves around adding anchor points to an existing path and repositioning the added anchor point with the Direct Selection Tool.
The Issue I am having is whenever I create an anchor point and attempt to move it too quickly, that it instead enters isolation mode and the point is not moved. The result either having to greatly reduce the speed at which I work or repeat the movement several times until it works.
Is there a way to disable this feature?
I can no longer find my Marquee Tool. In place of it there is now a button or icon labeled as "Go to Adobe Online" I don't recall seeing this button ever before. Someone else was using my computer last week, so I'm guessing that they somehow caused this change. Does anyone know how to bring back the Marquee Tool? I find it far more accurate for cropping than the "Cropping Tool"
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish to impose an image on to another. a foreground image onto a background image. Hence for the foreground image I need the background (of the front image) to be transparent (alpha) which Ive done following this tutorial: [URL] .....
Note: the back colour is pure white (#FFFFFF)
However the issue arises that one of the people in the image is wearing a light blue shirt, hence when i follow the tutorial, it makes his shirt semi-transparent.
After much looking around i found this in the docs: [URL] ........
Which states: "It will attempt to preserve anti-aliasing information by using a partially intelligent routine that replaces weak color information with weak alpha information. In this way, areas that contain an element of the selected color will maintain a blended appearance with their surrounding pixels. "
However I dont want this, what i wish to happen is that anything is pure white is changed to alpha, and anything NOT pure white is left as is.
Hence it my understanding through the document quote above, the solution is to disable this ant-aliasing function as described in the quote

When saving as a .png file, there is an option to enable/disable "save resolution". What is this option for? I've tried Googling, but no luck due to many unrelated search results.

Using Inventor 2012 latest SP
My Image tool icon is grayed out in Insert Panel of the IDW.
I created a sketch in the IDW & have no way to insert a graphic.I checked multiple files including a new file forma template & cannot get the Image icon to work, it's always grayed out.
Is there an option setting I need to change?
We really should have the ability to cut & paste into IDW's.
I have a cheap mouse and quite frequently while using the free select tool, one click will result in Gimp automatically connecting the current points to the beginning of the path. my mouse is to blame and I experience mouse issues in other programs too... mainly one click will result in double click actions.
so I was wonder how/if I can turn off the feature where double clicking would connect the path of the free select because I kinda have to refrain from using the free select tool because I don't get very far before it connects itself to the beginning.
Downloaded GIMP 2.8 this morning (twice) and after installation there were no icon to access the program.

When I was running GIMP 2+ under Win XP all icons of *.xcf displayed the image in the icon.
Under Win 7, only the GIMP icon is displaed. Is there a CODEC or other method to have the *.xcf image to display properly as an icon?

View 1 Replies View Relatedmaking my desktop icons. I stated out with either a jpg or png image. Using gimpshop I get the image resized and it looks fine. However, after exporting as an ico the image is very recognizable but shorter and fatter. I use to use photoshop so with gimpshop I look for something that said retain aspect ratio but as of now I haven't found it. It seems to adjust both width and height when I scale it but something happens during the export.
