We get the dialogue box on our laptop, but not on our tower. This is with LR4.3, using the Photo>Edit In path to open a RAW file in CS5. We have installed the Adobe Camera Raw 6.5. Both computers are running the same versions of each software, but I don't get the dialogue box on the tower which ask to Edit a Copy which preserves the changes made in LR4.

Just now while attempting to edit a Channel Mixer adjustment layer's creation dialogue settings, about 15 browser windows (not tabs but individual windows) trying to load Adobe docs all popped opened simultaneously.Killed Firefox's process and went back to PS.Every time I went back to PS though, it would happen again, when I clicked in the Channel Mixer settings.
Got out of the loop by mashing the ESC button as I switched back to PS, which successfully killed the Channel Mixer dialogue.I've seen this behavior in PS for about 4 versions now, but never this severe. How dysfunctional.
I am using Lightroom to version 4.3. The export feature stopped working. When in the library module if I choose a file(s) and click export I do not get the export dialogue box. Lightroom basically locks up until I press the escape key. Interestingly if I right click on an image, go to export and chose a preset it works? Do I need to reinstall Lightroom and If so how do I do this.

I have no way to oprn with a copy or etc with out the edit dialalog box. Iam using LR 4 latest version I must have changed some thing no realizing . Everthing was fine until a while ago.
All the NEF files that were recently imported are the ones that the dialog box will not show the TIF files the dialog box will show.When these files were ompoterted all the history does not show in the module just the import. Did I import wrong causing all the history not to show?
using lightroom 4.3... when I import photos, they appear in random order in the IMPORT viewing window. With pervious versions of lightroom, they were always in order of file name. It becomes more time consuming to select specific files to import to a file if there are 2 or more jobs on one CF card ( I have photos of my kids skiing mixed up with a portrait session.). Is there a way to sort the photos (by file name, or time) before import? I do know how to sort post import.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have LR 3.6 and have created a catalog of pictures from a ski trip I took last year. All of these pictures and the LR catalog are in one folder on my hard drive. After sorting, deleting and retouching quite a few pictures I now notice that one picture is missing from the library. If I open the folder in Explorer (Win 7) I can see the picture, and Windows Picture & Fax Viewer will open/display this picture so it appears the file itself is fine.
However, I cannot get this picture into the library for some reason. When I choose File>Import Photos this one picture doesn't show up in the list of photos. It's as if Lightroom can't see this picture for some reason.
Oh, and I don't know if it matters, but there is a movie clip with the same filename but a different extension (obviously) that does show up in the library and the import dialogue. The picture filename is DSC_0001.jpg, the movie filename is DSC_0001.mov.

It is stated that "remember to turn off color management in the print dialog" when using custom profile (I assume the Profile MG...) is regarded as a custom profile...
I have been lookoing in the print dialogue and I can not find any way to turn off colour management... Is this only valid for Microsoft Windows of Is there something I do not understand ?
Slow rendering image previews in import dialogue?
My LR 5 is as slow as a snail generating those previews.
Importing my RAWs form the EOS 6D (saved on a 95MB/s 32 BG SanDisk Extreme Pro) it renders only the 12 or 24 displayed previews and leaves out the rest (the next only when I'm scrolling down). For 12 images LR5 needs 8-10 seconds. LR4.4 does the same process for all 150 RAWs in 1-2 seconds.
It doesn't matter if I want to import to my workstation (Dell Precision T1650, 8core Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2, 16GB RAM, 64bit) via USB 3.0 (Reader & Port) or to my laptop (Dell Latitude E6400). So it must be LR, not my hardware.
Are there known issues with the Canon-RAW format? I just updated EOS firmware to 1.1.3, but the renderspeed stays the same. For 1 image 3-4 seconds single...
I have unchecked the box for "Show import dialogue when memory card is attached" in LR 4 and checked it in LR 5, but LR 4 is still opending every time when I insert a card in my card reader.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working in LR 4 on Mac OS 10.8.4 when I suddenly saw the preview of an older jpg-file when moving the cursor over the image folders: The half of it was blurred. I moved into the folder to find the image and clicked another jpg file. Half of it turned blurred and somehow inverted as well, see here: [URL] .....
I starred at it and in the library view more and more image turned this way. There was an icon next to the images, when I clicked it there was something like (translated): "metadata for this photo was changed by LR or another application. Should LR import the settings from the disk or overwrite the disk’s settings with those of the catalogue?"
There was no new version of the file or something like this. All affected files are jpg files, some from an old smartphone and most from an EOS 5D MII.

When I export a file from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop Elements 11 to edit. I make my edits, then click "Save." For some reason it opens the "Save-As" dialog box. How can I fix this so that I only click "Save" and then let the file return to Lightroom?

I have to say I never converted anything to DNG before. I just tried to convert a few files and all the edits have been discarded.
When downloading a bunch of images, as I am now, I want to edit successive images as downloading continues, and move on to the next image when I'm ready. Instead, LR4 keeps switching to the image currently downloading.

Yesterday, I opened a catalog and edited a couple hundred images. I applied a preset at import, made a variety of changes, cropped, applied color labels, and the Pick flag. When I was done, last evening, I closed down Lightroom normally, as I do every day.
I did NOT write all my changes to the files on disk, which I normally do at the end of editing, but not ALWAYS...
This morning, I started Lightroom, opened the same catalog, and NONE of my changes from yesterday were preserved. Nothing crashed, nothing closed abnormally, NOTHING unusual happened before, during, or after yesterday's editing. I closed Lightroom and rebooted the system. Reopened, no difference.
I went to the catalog partition and looked in the previews folders. There are MANY previews/files that show changes from yesterday, but in Lightroom I have NONE of what was done... White balance is back to "as shot", ALL the basic, detail, and other changes in develop aren't present, no Pick flags, no color labels, no NOTHING... In the preview files, there are only 45 files changed with today's date (I haven't touched anything, yet), but there are 1104 files changed yesterday, so there are changes in there, but they're NOT showing up in Lightroom.
how I can get the changes to show in LR again?
I'm going to have to go back through and redo all the changes because I don't have time to wait, but is there some way to FORCE Lightroom to read the catalog and previews and put the changes back? Or some other way to recover the changes (I'm presuming the changes actually ARE in the previews)...

I've recently downloaded Lightroom 4 as a 30 day trial. I've followed all the instructions re 'preferences settings' to allow further subsequent edits with PSE9 but I still cannot edit with PSE9 even though the option is there when i go to Photo>Edit Photo> Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements.PSE9 doesn't even launch let alone not bring in the photo.So what have i tried so far to resolve?
1. Looking through all my application files on my Mac to ensure i've found the right file to link to. I've only managed to find 'Adobe Photoshop elements 9' - what i haven't been able to find is any file with the word 'editor' against it. So in essence i have 2 files 'elements organizer' and 'elements 9' which is my editor. I've linked to the latter but it's still not working.
2. I've tried dragging an amended DNG file onto the PSE9 editor icon. This then bring the photo into PSE's ACR editor - but without the lightroom amendments?
Lightroom 5 has crashed while I was editing an image, and produced a pop up menu advising Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working and the only option is to close the program. This has never happened before and occured today after I upgraded Flashplayer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen editing an image or images in an external editor, such as CS5, OnOne, Nik, etc, LR5 places the images (when it works) at the end of the image sequence instead of where the origonal image came from and stacking the edited images with it. This is different than LR3 or LR4. LR5 does not seem to play well with Nik software either. After editing three images in Nik DHR Efex Pro 2 the saved image did not reapear in LR5. This was never a problem in LR4. Is there some 'tweeking' that needs to be done in LR5?

The problem is when I am in LR4 and I want to edit a photo in the external editor. It opens PSE10 but no window and no photo. I was able to do this easily on a Windows machine matching LR3 and PSE10 and figured this would be just as easy. Not to fast apparently. What to do?

I am importing into iPhoto and then copying the RAW files into a folder designated only for LR3.I've downloaded the Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 update and the LR3 Mac 3.6 update.what I am doing incorrectly as Adobe states LR3 supports Canon's CR2 RAW files.
