I am trying to model raindrops hitting water. How I can have simultaneous wave generators, rather that the central based tool in Gimp.I need to be able to adjust the parameters in the same way as the distortion tool allows...
I am trying to fix holes on my mesh by selecting the whole mesh and hitting weld at .001, but its pulling the whole mesh in. I have tried increasing the scale of the mesh by 1000x and even 5000x but a weld of .001 is causing the exact same result. I thought increasing the mesh size was supposed to scale the weld distance as well but its not for some reason.
I'm trying to create a bucket to hold water and ice for drinks. I've already created the bucket using line then lathe modifier. I know how to customise the bucket using 'unwrap UVW' to stick the picture to the polygon (bucket). But how do I add water and ice to the bucket? I did think of using the same unwrap method but then it'll look unrealistic when it's rendered as a 3D model.
I want to make something look like it is made out of water. For example, I have a spherical object (such as a basketball) and I want it to remain spherical (not circular) but it should have a water surface and be somewhat transparent.
possibilities to create water surface in Gimp. I found a simple way that creates the water surface mostly found in 3d games. Further you can create ripples animation using script-fu called water waves.
Follow steps below.
[*] Start with new image of desired dimensions
[*] Go through menus Script-Fu > Render > Lava
a new window will appear, select gradient named Horizon 2 (if you do not have this gradient in list, then download attached file, I do not remember from where I downloaded this file, credit goes to respective author.
how to create an animated water texture? It'd basically be like the image below (pretend its square), except it would shimmer and move about in a wavey manner. It'll be used in a 3d app as a simple water texture overlaid on polygons.
I'm new to Gimp - I've had it installed on my computer for a while now but haven't tried to use it because it's got so many features it was just - well, intimidating. But now I've started a big scanning project involving a lot of old family photos, and as you can imagine they're not all in good shape. So I have some repairs to do.
The first one I scanned turned out pretty nice, but the second one is challenging me. It dates from about the 1920s and looks kind of sepia-toned but I had to scan it in gray shades because of a kind of moire pattern at the bottom (it's mounted on a piece of thick cardboard which is bowed and I had trouble getting it to lay flat on the scanner bed, so maybe that's why). The black-and-white image that resulted actually looks better than the sepia, but there are a lot of water spots in the upper left corner. Some of them are really large and in many different shades of gray, which is making it almost impossible for me to fix them using the cloning tool. I thought about just copying and pasting from a better section, but all those different gray shades mean that didn't work very well either. I can crop some of them out, but not all, and besides, the cropping changes the composition of the photo, and not in a good way.
Obviously I don't have great skills with this software (although I'm thinking that might be different by the time I get this project finished ). FYI, the version I have is 2.6.11, which is probably old; I could update if necessary. And it's running in Windows XP SP3.
I want to make a fountain that has water jets that cause ripples when they hit the water. I have tried the basic reactor water and Pflow setup, as well as super spray, but neither seem to work. Is there any way to accomplish this without "faking" it by doing something creative with the water's texture?
In the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.
I have some photos of my wife in a dress that came out pretty nicely. The only issue is on the day we took the photos it had just rained and the bottom edge of the dress got wet.
I want to know if it is possible to use gimp to remove the water / wetness from the dress so that the photos look like the whole dress is dry.

Just upgraded to PS CS6, and am having a problem manually entering a value for the magnification level in the status bar (same goes for Navigator panel). Is it supposed to automatically zoom to the amount entered without hitting enter/return? For example, if I want 25%, the box will read 2%5 and tells me my value is invalid by the time I hit return (the document will go to 2% automatically before I hit the 5). I can find nothing on this anywhere online, and the documentation mentions typing a number then having to press enter/return. Is this a feature? A glitch? Can it be disabled/fixed?
I am running a Mac and small Cintiq with an on-screen keyboard (so typing speed is slow and screen area at a premium), and the button on the pen (set to be an 'option' key) sticks on occasion.
We do draw a lot a we want to draw fast. And sometimes you hit the wall. But XDP9 has a flaw that I ddn't experienced before and that I'd like to check with users on this forum. But only those with a Pen like a Wacom or nTrig. So all users with a tablet with pressure sensitive setup are susceptible too.
Try to doodle a line with your pen by circling around fast and long. In my experience the lines go less smooth and eventually will evolve to straight lines (see attached screendump) Once you hit that level Xara tends to straighten every move you make with that pen.
I've hit this behaviour when I was doodling on a rather outclassed tablet with rather ancient hardware (a Portege m400 with only 2gb Ram and a Pentium T2600 (dual core). I can repeat this behaviour on a M700 with a core2duo and 4Gb albait it takes longer to hit the wall.
there is a little bit of a "Play Lag" or Pause just after hitting Play. Afterwards it works fine. is just the beginning. Even on a Very Fast Computer with all resolutions even on Pro Res LT.
Also when I press "L" more than once, everytime I press it there's the pause or lag before changing speed.
What's the setting to draw dimensions as objects? For some reason it's drawing them as seperate lines, text, etc. and they only show after hitting enter. I've had this problem in the past and i'm not sure what setting does this
This error message appears when I have the Direct Selection tool selected, but have not selected an object. Every time I press Enter I get the alert: "Could not complete your request because of a program error." It doesn't matter what file I have open.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.5, 2.2 GHz, 16 GB memory. This is just one of several weird bugs I've encountered in CC.
I just recently installed Inventor 2012 and I'm finding it extremely annoying assembling parts together. I recall in 2011 I could see the parts interact and how the constraints would effect assemblies as I change offsets, relstionships, etc. But now in 2012 I can't see any of that until I acutallly apply the constrain and if it's wrong I have to back and edit it over multiple times till I get what I want. Is there anyway to get a preview of what will happen before I click the apply buton?
How do I fix the issue of the shutting down? I had been printing and then it wouldn't let me. i have updated everything and still won't work. I have windows 7 and lightroom 3.6.
For selecting objects, I must have hit a buttom trying to figure something else out and now I can't select objects without touching them and clicking on them, I used to be able to pick whole sections.
I'm using an HP Envy x2, which is a tablet-laptop hybrid with an attachable keyboard, and I'm having an issue with Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.
When I attempt to start a new line of text in a text layer by pressing "Enter," it doesn't let me start a new line of text; instead, it stops editing the text layer altogether. I would like to be able to press "Enter" and have PSE11 start a new line of text in the text layer; I have been using Elements to create graphics since 2007 and have never encountered this problem.
I have already tried: - Uninstalling and re-installing PSE11 - Ctrl + Enter, Shift + Enter, Fn + Enter - Resetting the type tool - Making sure the spacing is set to Auto - Turning on and off the Num Lock key via on-screen keyboard
My question is maybe more of a creative one than a technical one. I want to make an illustration showing that a moving particle has hit a target particle at rest resulting in a collision, where three new particles have been created. They are moving away from the collision point with high velocity. I have been giving it a try, as shown below, but I am not entirely satisfied, especially not with the two particles from the past creating the collision.
They are both gone after collision, but three new particles have been created after collision - Particle Physics is weird! How to make a nice informative illustration. At the moment I am using transparency to show the fact that the particles are moving ...Maybe I will need two illustrations to cope with the past and the future?
I'm putting together a simple lisp routine to issue bound, purged drawings.
I have code that will do the binding & purging but need handling the saving.
This is my approach :
(1) ask the user to save the drawing using this line (command "_saveas" "" "~")
(2) run a subroutine that binds xrefs etc (this works ok)
(3) run the QSAVE command
Trouble is, if the user cancels or hits escape during the SAVEAS command the subroutine & QSAVE will still run, overwriting the current drawing. How do I handle this scenario? Or should my appoach be different?
create hair strands to use as a texture in 3D modeling, i managed to create the hair texture with shadows and all that stuff but actually my goal is to make that hair strands.
Since i updated PS (CS6) the last time it has this very strange behavior when i try to position a object via the Arrow Keys. When i hit a Button very fast (3 times) the object jumps back to its very first position where i started to move it.
When it is a new "feature" - where can i turn it off?
