I have AutoCAD 2013 hitting the following registry location several hundred thousand times before closing a file:

Looking at a Procmon trace, there is a set of 3 entries: RegOpenKey,RegQueryValue,RegQueryValue and each is successful.
registry tweak to allow overscrolling on a PC when zoomed out to where the entire image fits on the screen, and I made a mental note to get back and try it, but now I can't find the post from which to get the specific setting.

Any registry setting (or some othere way) to disable Autodesk 360. My users have no reason to use this feature and I don't want them wasting time with it.

The /nologo switch is for a different screen. Need per user or prefer per computer registry setting to turn off the Welcome Screen.
Thought it was InfoCenteron key,set to 0, but that was not it.
Thought it might be MC3 key, but not there either.
i am wanting to use the apprentice server in another program. The apprentice server is 'normally' found in the registry under this key:

The problem is, that if you uninstall all things autodesk, and run a registry cleaner (or delete that key by hand), and then install only inventor view 2013 and run inventor view 2013, it will *not* create that key in the registry.
This makes it impossible to run the apprentice thru the COM mechanism, even your SDK samples will not work.
(i suspect (but havent proved), the bigger problem is on a brand new machine, install and run only inventor view 2013 , you still can't use the apprentice server.)
The 'workaround' is to install and run inventor view 2012. running inventor view 2012 will create the registry key. After that, running inventor view 2013 will happily update the key's value to the appropriate place.

so try this :
1) run regedit and delete the key and all its subkeys

2) optionally install inventor view 2013 ('as administrator' or not doesnt matter).
2) run inventor view 2013 ('as administrator' or not doesnt matter). exit it
3) run regedit. the key is not there still. you won't be able to run any SDK samples or get an apprentice server using the following 'basic'
Set ApprenticeServer = New ApprenticeServerComponent

is a bug in 'inventor view 2013', or is that intended for some strange reason?
I read in autocad help that these are saved in the registry. I'd like to change their values via registry instead of using acaddoc file. Where can I locate these in the registry? Could not find them...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running AutoCAD Electrical 2013 and every time I open a new drawing my undo is automatically disabled. Sometimes even changing from sheet to sheet in a project will result in my undo command being disabled. When I use the UNDOCTL command I seem to default to 48 and when I use UNDO to re-enable it I select the "All" option which gives me a 53 back for UNDOCTL, meaning that undo has been re-enabled.

I want to do that Customer Error Reporting thing, but no Window appears after the Crash, and I haven`t found it in the options yet.
The Computers are 3 x Fujitsu Esprimo P900 with an additional Graphic Card.
Intel Core i3, 3.3 GHz and 6 to 8 GB Ram.
2x is Windows 7 64bit and one is 32bit with 4GB RAM.
And the other two are Fujitsu Celsius M470 with 3.46GHz and 8GB RAM. NVIDIA Quadro 6000.
All Patches and Updates of AutoCAD2013 are installed. Why it crashes, why the CER doesn't appear?!
Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
I was attempting to troubleshoot some performance issues I've been having using process monitor. I noticed that AutoCAD 2013 is constantly checking for an XREFSTATE System variable, that according to documentation is stored in the registry. however, process monitor is reporting this variable as not found. So that leads me to a couple questions:
why is it constantly checking the status of the variable
why is the variable not located within the path it is looking for.
registry.gimp.org seems not to be working.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.
I made an image, but we had no idea what pc was going to be the NLM server so I didn't fill in the serverfield. Then I deployed the image to 10 pc's. I got my .lic file, set up a server. It loaded the .lic file, saw I have 10 seats so YAY.
So, when I start AutoCAD 2013 for the first time there is no "Where is your server?". Only registering or activation code.
I verified my image and it was alright (Network license checked > empty serverfield) Will I have to reinstall the images or am I missing something why he's not asking for a server?
I have 2 staff members who both have recently had problems with their custom settings from OPTIONS revert to the default settings every time they close out of AutoCad. One is using AutoCAD 2013 on W7 & the other is using AutoCAD 2014 on W8.1.
They have to reset their display, units, osnaps, etc regularly. I suggested creating a profile they can use until we resolve the problem,
We just switched to AutoCAD 2013 and we are trying to figure out the best way to make a note with a leader. So far it seems the best thing to use is the keynote option called TEXT WITH STRAIGHT LEADER. If we just do text, no leader is automatically added. This seems to work except we cannot set the text to a default of arial.
Once the text is entered, it changes to ArchDim instead of the text we created called 'Arial'.
I'm the REVIT person in the office so I'm trying to figure out CAD as I go...hence I need easy instructions that I can try to navigate...
I have just installed my autocad 2013 software. I've set the units to millimeters. But the workspace is still in inches. Even the dimentions are coming in inches. How to set the unit in millimeters?

This versions of AutoCAD crashes a lot, usually related to making pdf's, but that, while problematic in itself, is a secondary issue and not the reason for my email. When it crashes, it rests all my custom work place settings, even after I have saved and locked them. Restarting AutoCAD takes a few minutes, but this is VERY annoying and time consuming to reset everything everytime this crashes. I have never encountered this problem with previous versions of CAD.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe default file location for the template .dwt file in my AutoCAD options keeps resetting to None (see attaached, red arrow). It should be the same location as the line below it (see attached, green arrow). I have reset it a few times now, but it keeps reverting back to None. Do you know why this is happening and/or how I can fix it so the setting will stay?

The reason I use this method instead of the tool pallet or the regular hatch toolbar is that I have quick access to multiple commonly used hatch patterns already set up with scales and directions and can pick multiple objects at once.
The only problem is I loose the associativity when stretching an object. It's Associative if I use the hatch command or the tool pallet. I had no problem with this method when using AutoCAD 2010. Is there some system variable setting that has changed?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI created a model, assigned materials, and it renders fine if I leave the facetres at the default of .5. My model has curves though, so I need to increase the facetres to at least 3 or 4. If I set facetres to anything, even 1, the next time I render, I get the message that the scene cannot be rendered because it does not contain any faces. My machine is a Xeon, 12gb ram, with quadro fx580, autocad 2013 x64. But this happened to me on earlier versions, and on my previous workstation as well.
Is there some bug with the facetres variable?
Is there a way in AutoCAD 2013 to have it automatically change to a certain layer when you do common tasks. I am wondering if there is a system variable, or a routine that I could automatically load when I start AutoCAD to do this. It would also be nice that the layer would then go back to the original layer that was being used prior to the command. What are my options for doing this.
For instance when I load an xref I would like it to go on the layer; A-XREF. When I insert a block I would like it to go on the layer; 0, when I create a new dimension I would like it to go on the A-DIMS layer, when I create a hatch it would set to the layer A-WALL-PATT, when I add a leader with text it would go to A-ANNO-NOTE, etc..
I'm drawing something much larger than the paper so I would like to chose paper size A(8.5x11) set the scale then print it out on A(8.5x11) paper. For example: my desk is approximately 65inch x 30inch and I want to draw and print it on A(8.5x11) paper. I want it to print with the drawing being accurate to scale...how do I do this?

set my units to inches so I can enter dimensions in inches and see them displayed in inches.
Setting that will turn on snap all of the time instead of just when a command is active. You can't even tell that snap is on unless certain commands are active. The cursors doesn't snap on the BREAK command thus I can't use a two point break with any accuracy because the cursor doesn't snap until after the object is selected.
I need snap ALL THE TIME not just when certain commands are active.
sent drawing out to vendor, received back drawing where they had changed the width factor to .75. is there a way to globally edit all these mtext entities?
