GIMP :: How To Create 3D Conic Section

Nov 10, 2012

I am planning to create a blog post that discusses the mathematical characteristics of conic sections, and would like to include some images.

I have found images that are almost exactly what I would like, on the Mathworld and Wikipedia websites:

[URL]

I do not think I can just take an image from either of these sites, so I will probably have to make my own from scratch.

Is it possible to make these kinds of images in GIMP? (Will also need to be able to annotate the cutting angles of the planes, and include some Greek alphabet.)

Or do I need a commercial Mathematics software package to start the image, and then use GIMP to make relatively minor edits afterwards?

AutoCAD Architecture :: How To Cut A Section And Create A Section View

Nov 3, 2012

So, I we were taught autocad at hour school but not autocad architecture because apparently autocad architecture is too "advanced" for us.  so now I need to draw window details (thermally broken aluminum frame window with insulating glass unit) but it is so much work in autocad however I was told that I can just draw a window in autocad architecture and just cut a section and just make a few adjustments to get the window detail.

Revit :: How To Create Section Markers

Mar 25, 2013

We as a company have just made the step towards Revit and I have been given the task to start using it and getting things to be presented as our company standards.

I have took a bit of time to create our section markers. They all seemed to work great and ticked them as complete off my list till I tested them and realised they are numbered. Is there a way I can get my section to be alphabetical e.g. section A-A, B-B etc.

Paint.NET :: How To Create >2GB DIB Section On 64bit Windows

Sep 19, 2011

I want to use CreateDIBSection to create a DIB section of >2GB, and I prefer to use GDI functions, not GDI+ or .Net.

I know I can not accomplish this task on 32-bit Windows, so I tried on 64-bit version. Then I found that I can create several 2GB DIB sections but can not create one which is over 2GB, even if a few bigger than 2GB is impossible (such as 2.1GB). The test platform is 64-bit Windows 7 with 8GB physical memory.

It seems that there's a 2GB limitaion, is that true? Does GDI object still have this 2GB limitation on 64-bit OS?

But I can allocate one memory block much more than 2GB on the same system using malloc or some functions like that.

Revit :: How To Create Section That Is Inside The Cabinet

Jan 17, 2013

I created a kitchen counter in Revit 2011 however, when I try to create a section it does not show what a section should show such as the shelves that are inside the cabinet. It just basically shows what an elevation would show. I checked all my settings and everything is good. What could be the problem? I created another family as well and when I do a section it shows what should be seen in a section. The same thing happens when I put the counter into a project. The section does not show correctly as well as the wireframe visual style does not show in plan view. It show as if it were in hidden line.

What is the reason of it?  It's a 3d dwg file exported from Revit.

Also, can you generate a 2d section thru the xref.

GIMP :: Cut / Copy Section Of Layer

Why I can't copy a section of a layer.

I open a .jpg file and then using the Rectangle select tool highlight a section of the image. I then click CTRL+X and it actually cuts the whole layer showing me just the empty background.

All I want to do, is open the .jpg, copy or cut a section from it to a new image.

If you can create a solid by lofting between two section, in this case they are 3d polylines,  along a given path. The path is at the top of the sections. Using the loft command  I have to key in the PO ( point ) option several times to get the path option to show then when I select the path it gets treated as another section. See attached.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Create Some Cross Section Reports

Oct 8, 2012

I am trying to create some cross section reports. But I have noticed that none of the options available (Section Point Report, or any of the ones that use Sample Lines) will show any featureline information if it is not part of the region which is attached to the alignment chosen in the report.

For instance, I prefer to create my splitter islands as a seperate baseline (levels taken from a dummy surface) and add a simple kerb assembly to this. (So both are in the same corridor). My normal visual cross sections show the splitter island kerbs without issue. But the cross section reports do not.

I have a similar problem with some of the footways, which are created on a separate baseline. (I am working on car parks, where the footway surrounds the car park. So it is easier to create the footways seperately). The section reports do not pick up the footways, presumably because it belongs to a different baseline.......

I dont understand why a section report cant simply pick up any featureline it crosses??

I have created a network surface but Civ3D doesn't seem to able to use this type of surface to create a profile. Is there anything I can do, perhaps a way of transforming the network surface into another type of surface? Or am I going to have to manually create this profile in ACAD!

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Multiple Section Views From A Corridor

Right now I get 10 high then across the page (using 'draft' option).  I've tried to make a dwt at a 10 scale, (setting the viewport at 10 scale and viewport as a 'section' in the properties), but when I use that, the sections start overlapping (this is using the 'production' option).
