View 1 RepliesJust got updated from IV 2012 to 2013 with a new Dell (yawn) workstation to boot. OK, I did a section view of a pretty complex assembly and when I tried to take a measurement, the section view just dissapeared and it went back to full view. One of the primary uses of using section views is to view / inspect / measure, that which cannot be seen in the normal full view.
Why did this break in 2013 ? and is there a patch to fix it ?
Is there any tool in AutoCAD 2014 to obtain broken section view (generated from a base view in a layout?I have some very long section views and just can't find a way to shorten them...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of creating an exploded view of an assembly. I'm having to do this in a presentation file, and I was wondering if it was possible to section one of the parts in the exploded view. To be more specific, I have the majority of my parts spread out around another assembly in the center of the page. I want to get a three quarter section view of the center assembly so the internals are visible. Is this possble from within a presentation file and if so, how can it be done?

So, I we were taught autocad at hour school but not autocad architecture because apparently autocad architecture is too "advanced" for us. so now I need to draw window details (thermally broken aluminum frame window with insulating glass unit) but it is so much work in autocad however I was told that I can just draw a window in autocad architecture and just cut a section and just make a few adjustments to get the window detail.

I am experincing an issue with display quality when using broken views in Inventor 2013 drawings.
After adding the break to any view in the drawing, part geometry and draft items in all views disappear/reappear upon zooming in and out on the drawing. The entities are still there (they can be highlited and selected), but they are not displayed.
If the view is deleted, or the break removed from the view, the problem goes away.
This seems to be related to the software because both myself and a co-worker are experiencing the same thing while using competely different hardware configurations.
Edited a corridor section. Hit some button (not sure what) now I can't get back to my regular view. If I select the "Top" view, now all that shows up is one contour, and the top of one cross section, like it's only showing stuff that is at one elevation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working for an hour trying to add this split to this part. I have an extruded surface (ExtrusionSrf10) that I need to use as the parting line. When I try this all I get is a "Create parting line failed.....Errors occurred during update".
I have done this many times on other parts, this one is being a pain. I need the split to have two solids when its done. The reason that I want this is so I can sculpt out a portion of this block.
The file is about 15mb. Here is a link to it.

I have a part that when I adjust its length additional fabs are needed. Now in my idw for this part I want to secure the break lines on the part at a exact distance from the end / each other to display these fabs. Is there a way to parameterize or set the break lines so they adapt to the change in length and move accordingly?

View 9 Replies View RelatedDesign view representations in an iPart file are not included in the generated members after installing Inventor 2014 SP2 (and also in Update 1).
In the attached part factory, the two work planes are included in the members. They would need to be individually set invisible in each assembly view representation because the members only have the Master view representation.
It's possible to do a cut view with the cup part with a different view style from the other "not Cut" half.

I place the first view in a drawing and want to be sectioned.
Is there a way to do that, since when i mark the section line, another view is created.
Or should i put the main view outside of the paper boundaries?
I use the split face tool on my ipt. When i create a idw of this part I want to show the split face line in the drawing. When I initially place the view the line is shown, however when the place view command is finished the line is not shown.
I see nothing obvious in the place view dialog box controlling the visibility of this line............how do i show this line in the view?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need an urgent solution to my issue.I have created section view from a sketch (a line constrained to the projection of a work plane) from my derived part to my drawing using the "Get model sketches ". When i update the iassembly and update the the view using model state the view tries to update but throws an error see attached document. When i delete the section line and create a section line manually ie. by creating a normal sketch in the drawing the same model gets updated without any error.

In the past when I have encountered this issue I would simply locate the part in the browser, Right click on it + Section Participation + section. That usually solves the issue. This time it is not working.
While sectioning an assembly in .idw file, I dont want to see any thing that is behind the section line.
I am not talking about hidden lines. (I can switch of the hidden lines).
Some times, there are holes or opening while sectioning. Thru those openings, some of the parts that are behind the section planes are visible. I dont want to see anything.
How to do it? I am using INV2013.
Options like,
Option 1: Dont view anything more then 0.00mm or 1 mm behind. (Like section depth or view depth which can be entered)
Option 2: Switch off that are not sectioned.
