Basically what I'm wanting to do is curve the text around the image...which I already know how to do...but have the texture and color of the image its around be applied to the text. I've included the file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my Text to Path, specifically, I want to apply a gradient to my text, however when I make my path and select my text, the outline only appears over part of my text and thus I am not able to apply the gradient to the entire block.

It seems like there is a character limit for this type of text, because I added some characters and it shrunk my selected area further.
Basically I have 2 images, 1 texture background and 1 logo vector and I wanna blend these images together.
I have the vector on a layer on top of the texture background on the layer underneath and I want to get rid of the background but have it imprinted onto the vector as a texture fill effect. How would I go about doing this?
Is there any way I can type in text, and put it in the same place in each layer without having to go to each individual layer and putting it in?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm an infrequent and relatively unskilled GIMP user. I have used drop shadow in the past, and have been using it this afternoon with no problem until I started working on one image where I can't seem to apply the drop shadow to some text. I've got a 3-layer image, a background, a smaller image on a separate layer, and a text layer. Whenever I try to apply drop shadow to the text layer or the smaller image layer, it applies it to the background. I've tried everything I can think of...deleting and recreating the text layer, changing the "level" of the layer, closing then reopening the image...closing and restarting GIMP.. I select the text layer, click "Filter > Light and Shadow > Drop Shadow", and apply and it always applies it to the background.

I just upgraded from 2.8(.2?) to 2.8.6, and now I have this problem. I also just upgraded from Win XP to WIn 7 and upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, so I don't know if that is a factor.
I have files I created with the last version of GIMP that I can open and see the text properly formatted, but if I adjust the text the formatting disappears and WILL NOT come back.
GIMP won't print anymore either. My printer is set up correctly and I can print from other programs, but when I print from GIMP, it LOOKS like it went through, but the printer fails to do anything. I wind up having to tell GIMP to print to the microsoft xps writer (which DOES work) and then open the xps file I just made and have windows print it.
Im fiddling around with textures and want to apply a brick texture to a face. The texture itself is a frontal one without perspective, but I want it to follow the lines and perspective of the face. Additionally, I want the texture to have depth and some good lighting to it.
No I know a little about displacement maps, bump maps, specular maps etc, which ones to use in this case..
i know you can drop a color on the bevel but is there a way to apply a texture to the bevel only and not the face of the object?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am bringing into an old photo which is in fact a scan of a printed photo, an item selected from a recently taken photo and I need it to look as if it belongs to the old photo.
The immediate difference is in the texture, best shown with a photo here. try viewing it also by moving head laft and right ! I can even see a regular pattern of something within the cruder pixels. I could take days to try out various filters, it may be it requires a combination of filters and given the variables involved the chances of hitting upon the right settings and the right filters is remote and it would take days. Is there a way of sampling the recipient photo and then applying the effect it sees to the cleaner looking modern photo ?
I come across this situation all the time when one photo, even a modern digicamera one, taken by someone else, differs from another photo, unless the 'textures' can be made to match, the added in pics stick out like a sore thumb ! A photo with jpg artefacts receiving a cleaner photo is one common occurrence, try geting the cleaner one to look very jpegged, not easy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using gimp 2 to make a cartoon/rotoscope video. I used a separate program to remove each individual frame (2400+ frames) from a video as still images that can then be edited in Gimp. What I do is open the image, add two filters, then I save the image. The problem is repeating this over and over for each frame is getting to be very cumbersome and annoying. Is there a way to have the filter apply themselves automatically each time I open a new image? It would make things a lot easier and it would make the process go by much faster. It's annoying having to choose the filters from the drop down list every single time, especially when i keep applying the same 2 filters with the same exact settings every time. The same goes for the size of the image. Is it possible to just set gimp to a certain size and have it open at that same size every single time? It keeps asking me what size I want every time I open a new file. Gimp does remember the last size I typed in, but it still asks me to confirm it every single time i click new.

I'm, using GimpShop (downloaded two days ago) on Windows 7. I've created a text layer and tried setting the font to Webdings, but the font doesn't get applied. Other fonts seem to work fine, but although Webdings appears in my drop-down of available fonts, GS doesn't seem to know about it.

I want to know how I can put a pattern on an image. It needs to be an image with a transparent background. For example, this image (that I found on Google):

I haven't found a way to do this, even approximately (which would be enough), in a textured surface. Methods I've seen changing the hue saturation seem to work when working with primary colors, but I can't get it to work with a gray color.

I am trying to recreate the text of this logo: [URL], specifically the "Arkham City" text. As you can see, there are several darker and several lighter pixels inside the text, forming a great looking texture that isn't a single color. My question is, how can I recreate this texture, having some darker and some lighter pixels?
Also, what would be the best way to recreate the wind effect? I tried using wind, but that winds out the entire text rather than just the bottom of each letter.
When I create a curve to apply to an image, GIMP gives me only two choices: a freehand curve and a smooth curve. I need to apply a stepping curve (piecewise flat) and I am out of luck because there is no such option.
