CorelDRAW X6 :: Some Series Of Fonts Turn Italic By Default
Feb 12, 2013
I am using Corel X6 on Windows 8 (64bit),
I am facing some problem with few font series. Like the series of fonts called "Heavenetica" has turned italic.
Nothing happens even if I click Italic option again, I tried un-installing and re-installing the fonts, but still the same. The same fonts work and look fine in other software.
I recently upgraded to windows 8, this problem was not there in corel X6 in windows 7.
FontNav X6 64bit is wrongly detecting italic fonts as duplicates of others?
My details:X6 installed on newly delivered 64 bit win 7 professional (with all available windows updates).Asked fontnav to find fonts from D:UsersPublicDocumentsCorelContent X6Fonts (as installed from X6 DVD).The catalogue shows at most two fonts from each family of four:
Going to file > Settings > Duplicate Fonts shows the reason: the regular and italic versions of the font have been improperly detected as duplicates of each other.
It applies equally to the fonts on the Corel CD and those already installed in windows, including standard fonts such as Times New Roman.

I have been working on a series of drawings for a catalogue. I am using solidworks, creating a sheet, all line thicknesses are changed to 0.05mm and then exporting the sheet as .AI. Every drawing I create is saved using identical settings.Out of say 10 only 3 of them are okay and can be edited as vectors. The rest seem to turn themselves into a series of images.
when i converting my arial font to curve it automatically convert to Italic i have replace my arial font from other machine as well but still the same issue.
I'm having problems with printing documents in color using the Corel Draw X6 (Windows 7). My printer is an HP Photosmart 8200 Series and I'm using the most recent driver from HP. I've made sure that the color is turned on (i.e. grayscale is turned off).
When I go the print dialog and the preview I only see black and white (and get no colors when proceeding with printing). For some strange reason I don't get a 'color' tab in the print dialog (where I could check whether grayscale/black&white printing is turned on).
But when I use a different printer driver (e.g. Windows XPS) then suddenly I see the correct preview with color. So somehow this is linked to the HP printer driver.
I want to make a series of numbers around the edge of a medallion. I first make a temporary circle (the size of medallion) then curve my numbers to "fit to path". Then I delete the circle. But when I want to edit (make new numbers) they don't fit to the curve anymore. Is there a better way to do this?
Im having a hell of a time with PS. If I superscript something (I do alot of retail price points) and then make a new type layer, it automatically defaults to superscript instead of defaulting to the normal font. This happens every, single, day. I finally got fed up and I bef of you a solution if you could. OS and Version below.
Photoshop is current on 12.0.4 x32 Mac OS X 10.6.8
With other software in the past, I have been able to set a default substitue font for a specific font not in my system, but I cannot see how to do this in Illustrator.
Another designer uses the same font as me, but his computer has labeled it differently, so every time I open a file in which he has used that font, Illustrator says the font is missing. instead of having to go in and manually change the font every time I open a files he has worked on, I would like to set Illustrator to automatically change the font on opening.
An opened image is always locked. And if you want to do something you need to get rid of the lock. And yes, there are workarounds to do that. Can you add a preference option to turn off the backround lock default.
Rather than having to add a mask, why not also have a any new layer to automatically have a mask. Its a small step, but its something we do alot. All layers should have blank masks associated to them.
I'm looking for any way to set the startup state of the viewport windows so that two sided lighting is turned off whenever i start Maya. I work in game assets creation a lot so having it turned off allows me to make sure my normals are facing the right way. I usually just turn it off manually but every now and then i forget and it comes back to bite me.
In maya 2011 I used the script found here [URL]
which is as follows :
Append the lines below to file "initHUDScripts.mel", preferably in a local copy to your maya scripts directory. Path is, in Windows: C:Users\Documentsmaya\scripts
// CUSTOM SETTINGS BELOW // Set Two-sided lighting to off in default 4 views. modelEditor -e -twoSidedLighting false modelPanel1;
[Code]....
but I can't seem to find the "initHUDScripts.mel" in the 2013 file structure. Alternate script I can implement or know where I should append this existing script in the 2013 files? the script still works in 2013, I just dont know where to put it to load at startup
I prepare graphics mostly for print, so I like to turn on the Proof Colors view and Overprint Preview views. It's a pain to turn these on for each document. Is there a way to make these the default viewing settings in Illustrator CS6?
I tried creating an action to do it, but the Insert Menu Item command in actions causes Illustrator to crash every time, and the help file seems to say that View commands are unavailable to actions. So I'm not sure if that's a bug. Oddly, Photoshop has the very useful File> Scripts> Script Event Manager that let's me turn on Proof Colors (via an action) whenever a document is opened. It works very well. However, Illustrator does not appear to have these options. I found the View> New View options in Illustrator. They let me create a view that turns on Overprint Preview, but absolutely refuse to turn on Proof Colors. So it's the same number of clicks and pointless.
Illustrator CS6, v. 16.0.3 64-bit, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
I installed the new OSX update, Mavericks. Hadn't noticed anything weird in its running, except that when I went to run Photoshop my most commonly used font, Lucida Handwriting Italics was missing. It's still in my font book on my Mac, so that's not the issue, but it's like Photoshop just doesn't recognize it. I tried downloading another copy, but my font book said that I had duplicates and I had to disable the newly downloaded one. I need this particular font for my job.
My converted FreeHand files show the Background and Guides layer names in italics. Is there some simple way to change them to regular or back to italic in Illustrator?
My colleague just reminded me to one, very often appearing, situation - u get pdf with embedded fonts and u need that pdf opened in CD but don't have fonts?
We just updated from Draw X3 to Draw X5 on our 64-bit machines. We have one problem...We have two Helvetica types with exactly the same name, T1 Helvetica and TT Helvetica. In X3 we could have both fonts turned on, and it would let us use both fonts. Now in X5 when we have both fonts turned on it only allows us to use the T1 font. I am able to use TT, but I have to turn off the T1 in Font Navigator. I have read a lot of forums and understand that we should not have both T1 and TT, but our former worker used both font types, and we have to often go back and fix old files.
Is there a way in X5 to have both T1 and TT fonts show up like we have in X3?
I know the Find/Change tool is quite powerful within Indesgn but I was wondering if there is a way for it to find all text wraped in “ ” and make them italic
I have two 10,000 word documents filled with quotes and I was thinking an automated process maybe more accurate than be skimming it and doing it manually.
Some fonts are having issues on X6 that we didn't have with these same fonts on X3.Below is a sample of some fonts: Arial, Garamond, Nuance, Impact. This issue seems to be present in most if not all of our PCs.
The culprit is security patch KB2753842 (12-11-12), in my case, in Windows 7, 64-bit, I have talked to Microsoft and reported this as an issue. In the meantime, hit a previous restore point and re-install all service patches except for the one above. Right click on the link to that patch and HIDE it. Then, update your antivirus and you're back to normal.
When I am editing text, GIMP will no longer apply italic nor bold effects. (Underline works though.)
I just upgraded from 2.8(.2?) to 2.8.6, and now I have this problem. I also just upgraded from Win XP to WIn 7 and upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, so I don't know if that is a factor.
I have files I created with the last version of GIMP that I can open and see the text properly formatted, but if I adjust the text the formatting disappears and WILL NOT come back.
GIMP won't print anymore either. My printer is set up correctly and I can print from other programs, but when I print from GIMP, it LOOKS like it went through, but the printer fails to do anything. I wind up having to tell GIMP to print to the microsoft xps writer (which DOES work) and then open the xps file I just made and have windows print it.
