Aug 28, 2011I recently purchased Coreldraw Home and Student Suite from my local computer store, on there advice that this would work with a vinyl plotter.
I have since installed the software and it has not worked as it is not compatible with vinyl plotters.

May 27, 2011New purchase of X5 Home & Student.
PC - Dual core with 2Gb RAM 300Gb disc space running MS XP Sp3 (ALL Latest updates installed), latest NVidia drivers installed. I have looked at all previous inputs on this problem and carried out installation with Anti-Virus disabled, FIREWALL disabled, disconnected from network etc etc.
On attempting to start any of the package applications the software fails with an A.R.M. error.

Jun 12, 2011I want all new documents to have a duplicate offset of 0,0 (so they appear right over top of the original). I can do this in a document... via Tools, options (or customization), document, general
set the x and y of the offset to 0
BUT, click on the "Document" tree branch and there are checkboxes to save the options for new files.
I enable "Save options as defaults..."
and click the "General options"
... and this should include the offset amounts...
click okay...
Then open a new document, draw a squiggle, hit Ctrl-D, but the offset is still .25 x .25.
I've tried clicking the Tools, "Save settings as Default" but that doesn't work either. I've also tried saving the workspace, but that doesn't work.
This feels like a bug, because both the save settings for a new file AND the tools, save settings as default should have saved these document settings (? right?)

Mar 20, 2012I've been using Corel Draw! 8 for years and my favorite tool was the angle of rotation. For example, I would select an object, usually a rectangle that has the point of rotation at end of the narrow rectangle. As I rotated it, I could see how much the angle of rotation in degrees is. Therefore I could type a value in the box and the rectangle would rotate some many degrees. Fast forward to my Corel Draw 12. Now when I click on the same object, the box will display what the angle is in degrees already based on the circular angle startingaat the nine o'clock position. I need it to say ZERO and I can't find the setting to set it at zero
what I am drawing is I rotate a narrow rectange and basically creating a dial face for instruments.

Perhaps, some short key buttons combination....Just got tired to copy and paste all my elements as a separate layers to the new page :( Need to have all elements separate because creating a SVG file for die cut machine.

I've highlighted the "Row or column offset." Try to change one without the other--won't do it. They change in tandem: change one and the other matches it. Why call it row or column when it's row and column? For that matter, why the radio buttons?

Aug 19, 2011I'm trying to output B&W art for offset and can't get a .tif, .pdf, or .eps to look as good as the Draw version. Even ran the .tif up to 2400 resolution, making for a 160+MB file; not bad, but still rough by comparison.
Then I turned View/Enhanced to View/Normal: they look the same now. Is Draw, when View is set to Enhanced, smoothing out my artwork in a way that can never be reproduced in real life? Would explain why my printer is always letting me down.

Feb 4, 2013I export many web graphics at the same size so with x6. I thought I would love the presets with x6 however when I set the preset to export like at 700px width it changes and re-sizes the exported graphic to 350px width. It show 700px on the screen when I load the preset however right when I click export or if I place me cursor in the transformation box it changes. I even tried to change it too 1400px hoping it would then change it to 700px but it still changes it to 350px.

Feb 26, 2012My wife is starting a label company - we design the labels in corelx5 then print & cut them out on our printer - but I'm wondering how to autoduplicate the names into each of the labels on the page (a page has maybe 100 labels that would have the persons name in them - same name in each label). Rather than copy things over & over how can I set things up so that I type the name into the first label and it fills all the rest of the labels on the sheet with the same name automatically ?
Do I need a macro for this ? (I'm green to macros)

Feb 10, 2011I haven't experienced my contour offset 'jumping' in too large increments.....BUT
my contour offset tool is not working like it used to.
Only rarely would I receive the message 'contour offset too large' when offsetting a bezier curve .025"
Whenever this would happen I would then reduce my nodes or convert them to cusp or smooth. This would almost always fix the 'countour offset too large' problem.
I've reset Coreldraw to factory default but still have this problem with certain lines.
All of my software is up to date.

Jul 28, 2012In working with slightly more complex curve shapes in CorelDraw X5, I'm discovering when using the contour option it results in an error ("Contour Offset too large"). This was not experienced in CorelDraw 9 at all. I'm experiencing this error with inside or outside contours, steps at 1, offset at 0.1. Reducing nodes eventually will allow the contour to be successful. However, it takes an extreme reduction of nodes which distorts the shape a lot.

May 14, 2012I am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.
I have attached the file, the style is ACHD-Sta Off-Rt [copy]

When I import audio (.WAV) it works fine, but if I offset it to a later frame the waveform moves to the right frame but when scrubbing the audio stays at 0. Making if very difficult to lip-sync. I have tried re-caching, playing the scene all the way through and all other options I have seen online.

Dec 17, 2012I modified the "Prepress" pdf preset to show crop marks and saved this pdf preset as "Cropmarks". However when I use the "Collect for Output" wizard, the new pdf preset (i.e. "Cropmarks") does not show up as an option in the dropdown.

Mar 9, 2011I’d like to copy an object a distance that I specify on screen. I can see how to copy a specified number of inches, but that is very awkward. You have to measure the distance (horizontal and vertical) and then input the numbers, then click “apply”. Is there a simpler way to do it?
Or is there a way to paste at a specified location? If I do an Edit>Copy then Edit>Paste, it pastes the new object on top of the old one.

May 24, 2013I've noticed that DRAW seems to forget whatever settings I choose for duplicate.
So, I found the following in the index:
"Copying objects quickly. You can use other methods to create copies of objects quickly, without using the Clipboard. You can use the plus sign (+) on the numeric keypad to place a copy of an object on top of the original object, or you can create copies instantly by pressing the Space bar or right-clicking while dragging an object."
The + sign thing is cool. Wish I had known. But the Space bar drag either doesn't work at all or puts down one copy at what is apparently a set distance from the original, and then a second copy wherever I release the mouse button. ? Win7, DRAW X6.
