In modelspace I have a drawing that is aligned perfectly, but when I create a new viewport in a layout the drawing that was created in modelspace seems slightly rotated in the layout view?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a viewport on a drawing within a layout tab. When I go into paper space the available scale options are in metric units e.g. 1:500. When selecting the scale that I require that should allow the drawing detail to fit within the viewport it is too large even when the smallest scale available (1:5000) should easily be adequate for the detail to fit within the viewport. The detail within model space has been drawn in millimetres.
I guess that some defaults, scaling options are conflicting with each other.
I'm writing down some names & seeing how they'd look like when I use a different font but just now, I've realized that the text slightly blurs when it's rotated.

I know this isn't much of a big deal but I'm just wondering if there is a way to prevent the blurring or anything like that. I tried 'sharpening' the selection but as far as I'm concerned, it didn't change anything.
My issue is this: While trying to print or pdf a drawing in (lets say 8.5x11) layout view, the edges get cut off. It looks as though the template I copied is too large to be printed in full. If this were the case, wouldn't it be the same even if I tried printing in extents? It still does the same thing printing in extents.
I am using Mechanical 2012.
Centering the drawing (or viewport) in the lay out, I’m not sure about the best practice to center my drawing in the lay out so that it will be centered as it sis printed from the lay out

The size of the A4 is 29.7x21The size of by title block is 27x19Then I have like 1 cm margin from top, 1cm and bottom, 1.35 cm from left and 1.35 from rightI managed to have the view port / drawing centered on the A4 layout by setting the “plot offset” to be: X=13.5 and Y=10 using the printer “dwg to pdf.pc3”
It looks fine in the printed pdf, but when it is printed using printer “HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6”, the drawing is not centered on the hard copy A4 paper (attached)
What might be the issue here? Is the approach that I used to center the drawing in the layout is efficient? Why the drawing is centered correctly on the pdf but incorrectly centered in the printed A4 paper?
I have a 3D drawing in model space which I want to print with different views. I know how to make viewports for top orthographic view, side, front and 3D perspective view, but I can't figure out how to make a sectional view viewport from the 3D drawing as well.
Also, I can't figure out how to have autocad place hidden lines and centerlines for me.
I created some shape with line tool and added extrude modifier to it. After being converted to editable poly I want edges to be slightly softer. But turbo smooth creates a big mess. Swift loop won't work. Is it because sides are single polygons? Is there an easy way to add edges inside them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing I am working on regardless of whether I use DVIEW Twist or UCS rotate I encounter the same issue. I start with MTEXT that is parallel to my intended view. However, as soon as I make it annotative and set it to Match Layout the text rotates 90-degrees and is no longer plan readable.The text lives in model space, not paper space. I've even roated the layout viewports in this specific drawing to match, and the text appears correct when viewed through a viewport, but when I jump back to model it is turned on end 90-degrees again! Have I missed a setting somewhere? Shouldnt the text reamin oriented with current view in model space?

I have received a drawing from a consultant that appears to be locked to a plan view. How this has been done and I would like to switch it off.
Just to be clear it is locked in the modelspace tab not a viewport.
Is there a way to align a modelspace rectangle to viewport extents in paperspace? My situation is that I have several page 'layouts' (complete with paper size boundaries and title blocks) drawn in 2D modelspace, as this is how I have been plotting up until now. I am trying to set up these 'layouts' in actual paperspace Layout Tabs for batch processing, and I would like a way to position my view within a viewport so that the recatngle that I have drawn in modelspace snaps to the viewport extents. I am sure this is a 'day1' type of question, but I'm very new to paperspace Layouts.

I have a drawing for which i am doing a vehicle swept path analysis on via autoturn in autocad 2012.
I have been sent the drawing, however when i open it the drawing only appears in paperspace and modelspace is blank........
Example for creating layouts for the zoomed portion in the model space.. Im able to zoom the drawing sheet but im not able to create layout for that sheet..See my attachment ..i created layouts manually(layout1,layout2,layout3)....But i dont know how to do this in .net API.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this drawing that I just finished. There were a few dotted lines that were showing up correctly in model space. Then, when I switched over to paper space all of those lines were solid. I messed around with the option LTSCALE and set it to 0.01. This made the lines show up correctly in paper space, but now they are all messed up in model space. Is there an option to make it so they show up exactly the same in both model and paper space?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble creating a map book where north is rotated in the view. I've tried using ucsfollow, and the ucs command to rotate the map correctly, but when I try to create the map book the map doesn't show up in the main viewport.
How to rotate the map when creating a map book?
When I rotate my view in drawings containing .sid orthos, the orthos shift. This also happens when I rotate the view in a viewport. I've attached a couple screen caps showing the problem.

If i do the same task in model space, it accepts the window i select. I am currently using civil 3d 2013 with the latest updates.

i have a template, created a viewport and fit the model view in the layout space. However, when i scale the template... the viewport model doesn't follows the layout scale. Is there any ways to fit it so that when i scale the template i don't have to set the view again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI received the attached drawing file "A" from a surveyor that was created in an earlier version of AutoCAD (approx 2000). The attached drawing is rotated so that the view in Model Space shows the cross-hairs with north pointing northwest. There are points included within the drawing that do not match the coordinates of the surveyed points within the attached ascii text file. I would like to rotate the drawing so that the points match the coordinates in the ascii file and North follows the y-axis.
I have imported the points from the ascii text file into a new drawing file "B". I external referenced (overlay) the new drawing file B into drawing A. I tried moving all of the objects in the drawing file A (with MOVE) to a known point coordinate and then rotating (ROTATE) the objects to two known points. I don't know how to select all of the objects in drawing A and not the external reference in drawing B so that I may Rotate only drawing A objects.

So I have a survey of a roadway that was created 15 years ago and was converted into autocad civil 3d 2012. No problems there, however, I am going through the survey and rotating the COGO points (ie Traffic Signs, Utility Poles) and the text to be parallel to the roadway. I am in UCS World and have no problems rotating the points and text to what I want. THe problem starts when I rotate the drawing using UCS 3P so that I am looking at a portion of the roadway that is parallel to my computer screen. Now the text and orientation of the signs etc are no longer parallel to the roadway and did not rotate when I rotated the entire project.
Now I was under the impression the points were to rotate automatically to what I set them as, ie parallel to the roadway. I'm sure this is an easy fix or I am not understanding something.
I'm working in Civil 3D 2012 and when I print to a .PDF with rotated views, the .PDF file is very large compared to file with non-rotated views. how to control the file size?

CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

I have just switched from Pc to Mac with AC. Not sure if its the platform change, or the later version, but I am having problems doing things I used to have no problems doing!
I have duplicated a layout, but when I click on the inside of it it wont make it active and allow me to zoom the view.
If I create a new layout, I can click inside and zoom, however, in this instance, its quick for me to duplicate and re-zoom, if only I could I have tried the MV > L > off command, but that is wanting me to select an object, and not unlock the whole layout. Same thing if I hit the lock or freeze button on the right hand tool panel.
