View 2 RepliesI am working on a simple function to add/remove a non-printing stamp our drawings to specify a preliminary drawing. The issue is that I cannot seem to get AutoCAD to accept the text height in the Mtext command. Below is the code; try it and see.
(DEFUN NOT4CONSTRUCTION(/ CTR HGT PT1 PT2) (IF (EQ (GETVAR "CLAYER") "NOT4CONSTRUCTION") (SETVAR "CLAYER" "0")) (IF (EQ (GETVAR "CTAB") "MODEL") (SETQ HGT "8'-4"") (SETQ HGT "1"")) (IF (= (ASSOC 0 (TBLSEARCH "layer" "NOT4CONSTRUCTION")) nil) (PROGN (VL-CMDF "-LAYER" "M" "NOT4CONSTRUCTION" "C" "30" "" "TR" 90 "" "P" "N" "" "") (SETQ PT1(LIST (- (CAR (GETVAR "viewctr")) (/ (* (GETVAR "viewsize") (/ (CAR (GETVAR.

I'm looking for a lisp routine that i can globally change the text height and width factor of a particular block attribute. The name of the attribute tag is "TAG". I would like to be able to select all the blocks that i need to edit and then specify what text height and width factor i want to change to.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble opening a drawing created by other software, I am using the following
(defun c:water ()
(setq acApp (vlax-get-acad-object))
(setq acDocs (vla-get-documents acApp))
(vla-open acDocs "L:/GIS_CAD/CAD NZMG/Water/Water Nov08.dwg")
)
If I try the routine I get ; error: Automation Error. Error Decrypting Data.
If I open the drawing normally (that works) and save as a dxf, then open the dxf and save it again as a dwg the routine works. I use the routine for 5 seperate drawings that get updated every month and would rather have a routine that opens the drawings without the fiddle.
how to access custom drawing properties using LISP. It was in a discussion initiated on 01-06-2011, subject: Custom drawing properties.
One solution was to use the following method:
(setq si (vla-Get-SummaryInfo (vla-Get-ActiveDocument (vlax-Get-Acad-Object))))
(vla-GetCustomByKey si "DWGPROP1" 'pval)
(princ pval)
Now taking it a step further, using LISP, how can I "update" my custom drawing properties?

I have this lisp which will display the height of a 3D object to 2 dps. What I need is for 3dps to be displayed but I have no real understanding of LISP coidng so I can't work out where this is specified in the routine.
Why this LISP does not work when I try to use it in a drawing which has a Pointools POD file working (or previously had one) within it?
I am currently writing a series of routines for setting the layers for text, leaders and dimension commands. The end goal is a system where any annotation command sets the correct layer for the duration of the command, then reverts back to the layer that was active before the command.
I have managed to complete all the code, and it appears to be working fine, I just have one question: I have used -layer "m" "Lay_name" etc... for all layer setting commands, rather than any code to see if the layer exists already. In my limited testing this seems to be suitable, nothing that exists on that layer seems to be affected.
I know how to write code to determine if the layer exists already and set the layer instead, but so far it seems unnecessary??
I'm looking for code to retrieve the "Paper Text Height" from the current (active) "Text Style".
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up a height label for sections and elevations. I then want to update it with a shortcut.
I already tried it with a field that shows me the y coordinates, but it won't show me the "+-"0.00 sign,when I put it to zero level. It only writes "0.00".
I design a small plant in Autocad 2012. For the pipes we used cylinders and boxes(for square pipe), now we need to make the bill of materials, but I don't know how to extract the data from each cylinder(radius and height) or box.
It is possible to do this?
I place a small sample from the plant. Totally I am having around 6000 elements.
I am trying to create a custom message box with variable width and height by passing width height title and list of text. I can get the routine to work if I use preset width and height, but would like to make the box adjustable.

I'm trying to write a lisp routine that, when I invoke the mleader command, osmode is set to "nearest" & orthomode is set off. I then would like the original settings to be returned.

I have the following code, that for some reason the last created dimension is no being selected. That's the first problem. The second (and not as improtant) problem( becasue it does work), is that I'm using the "dimedit" command. I prefer to do a swap within the dxf codes, that I treid but didn't work, so I resorted to the "dimedit" command.
(command "DIMLINEAR" pause pause pause)
(setq last_dim (entsel (entlast)))
(setq oldunits (getvar "lunits")) (setq oldprec (getvar "luprec"))

I only do programming when absolutely needed so it usually only happens every couple years. I wrote this routine to count nested blocks inside of dynamic blocks to count parking spaces. The routine worked fine but was relying on the ltscale to scale a block containing an attribute for the total number of spaces. I want to update the routine to use an annotative block so the scale doesn't have to be set. I changed my block containing the attribute but now when I run my routine, the attribute height gets changed each time the routine is run. The text just gets larger and larger. Here is the portion of the routine where the attribute info is gathered and updated with the new value for that attribute. If you need the entire routine, I can post it with a slight modification so it will work outside our network.
(defun updateattrib ()
(setq CNT 0) ; sets count to 0
(while (< CNT (sslength ss)) ; starts loop while CNT is less than the number of objects in the group

I am running this in Civil 3D 2010 but will want it to work in 2013 so if the solution will only work in 2013, that is fine with me.
I would like to select all instances of a block, and put a new block on top of them using the same properties (insertion, rotation) but am unsure how to do this
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have blocks that were created on one layer but inserted on another layer. So, when i turn the layer off that the blocks were inserted on they remain visible because you have to turn off the layer they were created on to have them disappear. Is there a way for me to determine what layer the blocks were created on?

Searching the forum, I found the following

I need a program to move some selected text to a line something like as extend command but for text objects!
suppose that there is a horizental line (y=constant) or vertical line (x=constant) and some selected text(or other objects), I want a lisp program that move these selected text (or objects) by their "insertion point" to this line.
in other word, if the selected base line is horizental (y=constant) then property of "Y" of all selected text should change to line's "Y"; and if selected base line is vertical (x=constant) then value of "X" of all selected text should match to line's "X" value.
for example, for base vertical line (x=constant) and 3 selected text(or can be any object) result is:
text1. | text1.|
text2. | ===> text2.|
text3. | text3.|
| .text1 |.text1
| .text2 ===> |.text2
| .text3 |.text3
Any lisp routine on how to change "Drawing Properties" (fields via Mtext) on multiple single drawing files?
There are several instances where we would need to take a project to create another one and simply change the title block description.
As of now, we are opening each drawing (there could be hundreds) and modifiying the drawing properties on each drawing to change the customer name and other project descriptions.
These are not attributes, but fields. I've researched alot on here and couldnt find anything.
The drawing is attached.
I'm trying create a LISP to customize PDF creation. The lisp looks into the .PC3 file which paper size better fits the plot area. But its exaustive to every time i want to create a new paper size i have to open the .pc3 file and configure a new paper.
There is a way to open the .pc3 properties through lisp?
I've been looking for commant that will allow me to copy a selection of entities to another layer for details. I'll need to be able to select several objets all at once and have each of them maintain the correct colors, linetypes, lineweights. Most everything is set as bylayer but that makes everything change once the objects are moved to a new layer.
How can I keep the everything looking like it never changed except for the fact that it will be moved to a new layer - layer 0 in this situation?
I have a routine that work fine, but I receive a nil at the end of command. How to fix that?

we have a good size project going on with lots of view ports of a base map (floor plan or site plan). Then we set the viewport layers the way we would like it, but along the way, we keep getting updated base maps (floor plan or site plan) with new layer created in them. These newly created layers are for the originator and will not affect our project.
Is there a way to have our project set to ignore any newly created layer from the originator of the base files? That is, we have our project (viewport layers) set the way we want it. When we get an updated base file, replace the xref(s), our layer state will still be the same, ignoring any newly created layer, automatically. I sure hope I am clear enough here.
Our problem is that when we get a new base file, then we would have to go to every file that has a viewport related to this new base file and turn off the new layers.

Is there a tool out there that will allow me to pick an object and change it's layer properties?
View 9 Replies View RelatedNormally when applying the matchprop command in CAD, one has to first pick the template element, and then select the elements which should have this template element's properties copied to/matched.
is it possible (via lisp perhaps?) to reverse this order, so that i can select a bunch of elements (e.g. through the quickselect icon) and THEN apply a matchpropertieslisp command, then select a single template element which the initially selected elements should mimic?
We have a lisp routine that I co-authored ages ago and then haven't done much programming in about 7 years. I seem to have forgotten much of my language skills. This portion of the lisp routine was running fine in autocad 2005 which is what the computer had on it, and it doesn't run on autocad 2010.
I've narrowed it down to the while statement which is why you see it commented out, but that portion is necessary. My main question is was there a change in the language specifically the while statement between 2005 and 2010?

I am using AutoCAD 2011. I have a lisp that I have created/modified.
What it does:
Allows me to Select a layer that I call out and change its color properties back to bylayer.
(i primarily use this when i am cleaning up my drawings, I turn them all to gray with another command i have then i run this one to find all the entities on that specified layer)
What i am trying to do:
I would like this command to do a loop. So say i type in a layer name that does not exist, instead of running through the rest of the command i want it to revert back to "specify layer name" until the correct name is entered for that layer.
Here is the lisp:
(defun cLL ()
(setq varLayer (getstring t "
Specify Layer Name: "))
(sssetfirst nil (ssget "X" (list (cons 8 varLayer))))
(command "change" "p" "" "p" "c" "bylayer" "")
(princ)
We have developed processes, standard operating procedures, work instructions (whatever you want to call it) for several tasks we do on a regular basis. More importantly, tasks that we don't do on a regular basis. On some processes, performing certain commands is a critical step in the quality of the product. I have also developed a lot of lisps to streamline these processes. Of course there are commands that just don't make sense to try and include into existing lisps.
The problem we're having though, is that people are not following the processes. I don't know if they think they are smarter than the process, or if they don't understand the process, or if they are just complacent.
One of the things that would really work to get everyone to follow the process, is to have my lisp routines check to see what the last entry at the command line was.
For example, if one of my lisps depended on the drawing be saved, well, instead of putting the save command in the lisp, sometimes it would be beneficial to check to see if the drawing was saved in the first place. Kudos to those who do follow the process, they do save the drawing, and then run the lisp. On rather large files, I would prefer not to save the drawing twice, back to back.
There are a lot more benefits to checking to see what the last user entry was, in a certain drawing.
I am new to DCL programming and am having an issue getting a button to recognize a command. As a simple first attempt, I am trying to create a dcl with a button called "draw test line" that will draw a line from 0,0 to 1,1. The lisp loads correctly and the "cancel" button works fine. However when the "draw test line" button is pressed, autocad locks up and the only solution is to restart. here is the dcl

label = "draw line test";
: column {
: boxed_column {
: button {
key = "but1";
label = "draw a line";
