AutoCAD Inventor :: Projected Drawing View Doesn't Show / Design View Rep Don't Update

Sep 27, 2013

After upgrading to Inventor 2014 we notice that the graphics do not work properly, and that the overall performance in drawings and modelling bad compared to 2013. Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..

Any workaround regarding disappearing views?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Projected View From Crop View

Mar 24, 2011

I have a Crop View of a IAM and want/need a Projected View of the Crop View. When I select the Crop View as my base and then select try to create a Projected View, I get the whole IAM.

I guess one could use the Section View and eliminate all the items I don't need for my Base View.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing View Won't Update?

I've got a macro which is creating .ipt and .idw files from templates. I'm once created I'm replacing the reference in the .idw to refer to the newly created .ipt file. The problem is that the drawing view isn't updating... I've make the .ipt file dirty then udpate the drawing, but that hasn't worked. I've tried just using the drawingdocument.update function, but that hasn't worked either...

AutoCAD Inventor :: Show Thread Features In Drawing View By Default

May 1, 2006

When you have a part with a thread feature, the default setting should show the thread feature in the drawing view...rather than making the user right click the view and select "Display Thread Feature". I don't understand why this doesn't show up in the drawing automatically...it is, after all, a feature on the part.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Projected Geometry In Sketch In IDW - Related To Breaks In View

Apr 12, 2012

I'm using Inventor 2012, and experiencing some trouble with certain types of projected geometry that I'm using in a sketch associated with a view in an .IDW file - but only when the view involves a break (or breaks).

I'm generating section views to show the layout of hole details at various axial locations along the part. When placing a section line, I can't "pick up" any appropriate locating geometry from the view. So, after creating the view (using just a vertical section line), I edit the sketch that defines the section line. Project some geometry (the edges of the holes, in the attached example), draw some additional geometry constrained to that, then constrain the section line to that. That works fine; if I move the view around, the section lines stay attached to it. This is what is shown in the attached "before break" picture.

When I apply a break to the drawing, though, the section lines don't follow the changing view. They stay right there, as if the view had not been broken at all. This is what's shown in the attached "after break" picture. Move the view around, and they track with it - but always staying the same "real" distance apart from each other. It is as if that projected geometry were completely ignoring the break.

I observe something similar if I start with an IDW view with one or more breaks, then create a sketch associated with the view. If I project geometry, some of it projects where it should, but other geometry projects elsewhere on the page - as if no breaks were present in the view.

The part I've shown here is something I put together as a simplified example of what I'm observing. The part I'm actually trying to detail is more complicated (many more details), and much longer (so breaks are a requirement to put it on paper).

For example, He has a car assembly file with 4 wheels and alot more subassemblies, then he creates a view representation which only visible for 1 wheel.

When he generates the part list in Inventor 2D drawing, he go to part list >filter setting and set to ‘’Assembly view representation’’ but the quantity for the part list is still showing as 4 as per attachment.

Each time when I place a part in base view, have to follow few steps; go through view label, format Text, than choose type option - [Properties-Model] and its property - [Part Number], than placing dimensions. it takes long time and very repetitive, especially, when placing a hundreds of parts and I was wondering if there is an option, to set up view label; [Properties - Model ]& [Part number], as a DEFAULT. So, each time placing a part, in base view it will come up with correct label. Also, overall dimensions, can it be retrieve using parameters of the part?

When I click "Update View" in AutoCAD the command line says, "1 view(s) is up to date.", but the drawing does not change. Both the AutoCAD drawing and the Inventor part file are located on a server drive which is mapped as a network drive. AutoCAD Inventor :: QTY Of Parts In Design View Rep

Nov 29, 2011

I know this wasn't possible in the past (and probably still isn't now) but does any trick or something to only get the qty/parts used in a certain design view rep.

We are starting to do work orders (routings) with parts lists for ONLY whats used in that step in the process. Having to manually count screws,etc.. seems silly now.

Design view reps works excellent for showing the assembly process of a product but the parts list (even filtered to that design view rep) shows the total quantity of each component..not just the count in that design view rep.

Any possibility of doing this with ilogic or something?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Design View With Occurrence

Aug 21, 2013

I am working on some codes that let me make some change on visibility of occurrence. So I am I main assembly, and 3 occurrences of the same sub-assembly. The sub assembly was saved on a design view named hole that is hiding some occurrences.

if I work with one of those sub assembly (checkOcc as component occurrence)and then I try this:

                Debug.Print("Occurence name: " + CheckOcc.Name)
                Debug.Print("Is DRV associative: " + CheckOcc.IsAssociativeToDesignViewRepresentation.ToString)
                Debug.Print("The Active DRV is: " + CheckOcc.ActiveDesignViewRepresentation.ToString)
                CheckOcc.SetDesignViewRepresentation("Default")
                Debug.Print("Is DRV associative: " + CheckOcc.IsAssociativeToDesignViewRepresentation.ToString)
                Debug.Print("The Active DRV is: " + CheckOcc.ActiveDesignViewRepresentation.ToString)

The first time I check for the name, the result is empty, but is should hole as it's what I can see in the browser. then I change it to default. The result of that, the representation views disappear from the browser for that occurrence and still, the name is return as empty...then I carry on with turning on the hidden occurrences.

objCol.Add(checkocc)
dv.SetVisibilityOfOccurrences(objCol, visibility)

The result, all the hidden occurrence appear ALSO on the other subassemblies... It look that it's affecting all the Designview of all occurrence of that name...then, if I try the reverse, by turning it off... the switch off on the other occurrences but not the one that is checkoff!!

If i manually insert profile view label for that point it is correct.

As you can see in attached image green station value (that one is label for projected points) is wrong because it does not take equation into calculation. How to make projected objects labels to consider station equation?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Design View Representation - Add Using IMates

Jun 17, 2013

Is there a secret to having the Design View Reps stay on the right settings when using Occurrences.AddUsingIMates? I've got a master top level assembly that I'm bringing other iLogic modules into by using an iLogic form in the master top level assembly. The form calls a rule that makes a copy of the module assembly in the same file location as the master TLA. It then adds the module TLA  to the master TLA using iMates, and calls an external rule to copy all the sub files from the module into that file location and replace them in the module TLA. The user then calls the module's configuration form using a button on the master TLA's form.

I've been using a line of code to set the DVR back to default and associative for the module, but now that has stopped working and it immediately goes back to Master after running the rule, or even if I try and set it by hand. But if I bring the same module in and place it using the Place button, it comes in correctly. I've even added a NameValueMap for the DVR optional argument on AddUsingiMates and that hasn't work.
