Aug 11, 2012How can I get dimensions and stair well in view to show in sheet view? Basement & 1st fl are ok but 2nd floor is not.

Sep 21, 2011I have never gotten this to work, but had put little effort into it until recently. Thus far I have checked my project standards to make sure "match sheet views to view" is checked to "yes".
In both View drawing and the sheet- VISRETAIN is set to 1.
the VPLAYEROVERRIDESMODE is set to 1
I am working on drawings that are in my current project through project navigator. I am using ACA 2010 and not sure what else I need to do. I turn off all the unwanted layers in the view drawing, then create a sheet and xref in the view to model space- all the layers reset, and I again have to turn off all the unwanted layers. If I change a layer color in the view drawing, it does not change in the sheet drawing upon save and refresh.
I hate wasting time repeating the same task over and over....

Dec 12, 2012How do i draw dimensions in a certain 3d view so that it shows up according to that view? For example, I'm in isometric view but when i draw a dimension it shows up in 2d at wrong angle.

Jun 11, 2013When I create a model space view; then drag it on the sheet; shouldn't they be linked? I mean if I go into the View drawing, move the drawing in question, then update the model space view, shouldn't that update the sheet view automatically? Theoretically speaking of course; we are talking AutoCad.

Jul 9, 2012We have had a reoccuring problem in autocad architecture 2012 where model space views can no longer be dragged into a sheet. It just shows a circular cancel icon.
The sheets are set up fine and it may even have several MSVs already in place then out of no where the ability is lost. We have tried allt he usual fixes (checked the layers, restored the .bak file, tried on other computers, installed service packs) but it seems once the file is "poisoned" the only fix is to recreate the sheet and delete the old one. Not a terrible solution but it is not efficient.
We have a dozen computers all with acad architecture 2012 and it seems to happen on random computers and we can't pinpoint any specific differences between them.
We did not have this problem with Autocad architecture 2009.
It could be something with the project database.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Viewport Goes Blank After Dragging View In Sheet
May 10, 2012Since I installed autocad architecture 2012 I have this problem. When I drag a view from the project navigator in a sheet I see the content and the option to set a scale. So far so good. When I click in the sheet to set the location the viewport goes empty. I can stretch the viewport to top left to get the drawing within range and then move it back to where I want to place the drawing.

Nov 12, 2012I have set up a view with a stair that goes from the first floor to the second floor. The stair has been asigned to the first floor level only. It appears as I want it in the view. However, when I drag the view into my sheet file, the stair disappears and only the path shows, without the individual nosings.

Oct 27, 2011We're testing some new machines running Windows 7 64-bit with both AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and 2012 64-bit installed.
When dragging and dropping a model space view onto a sheet, instead of the folder with paperclip symbol, we're getting a circle with a line through it prohibited symbol. This only occurs when our project files are on our network. When we use them on a local machine this does not occur.
We cannot drag and drop onto new sheets either.

We are running on a Novell Linux Open Enterprise Server network. We previously had a problem with not being able to open any sheets if another drawing was open, which we resolved by disabling Novell File Caching. We are also now experiencing unhandled e06d7363h exception errors with any type of file access in the Project Navigator. This crashing also does not occur when the files are on the local machine.

Mar 26, 2011ACA 2011. I would like to copy the "standard" wall style add a surface hatch and display that in an elevation (exterior) view. I have played around with this and due to many different places to edit the materials.
I have the elevations created. When I go back into the construct and edit the wall style do I have to re-create the elevations to see the hatch? Or I think I just have something set incorrectly in the style.

Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..

Apr 23, 2012I use all the time L shape and U shape winder stairs in combination with the Monolithic Type.
We use to concrete the monolithic part of the stairs and then dress the stairs with treads and risers. The new tool looks that working very nice.
So OK I draw the U shape winder stair and of course i want to construct the stairs.
I want to prepape a detail plan view with dimensions only for the Monolithic Part (Concrete) of the stair but i can't find a way to dispay only the monolithic part without Treads and Riser.It is possible in 3d view but no in plan view. The news tool that calculate winder stairs is "half job done" if i can't print with dimension the concrete part of the winder stairs.

Aug 9, 2012i have a problem of net being able to view dimensions in the model space in the current view. i was not paying attention to what view i started the 2d drawing in, but right now it is in the front view. the dimensions lines gets put on a plane that the program has decided and wheather i try to dimension above or below it, it goes to that line. i have also noticed that for some unknown reason the 2d drawing gave itself depth. it is a very large drawing and i have tried to clip parts of it to put on a new drawing it defalts to the front view and i still cannot dimension on it.
I am using arch 2009, and the program did get corrupt during my work and had to reinstall. i have reinstalled several time with the same result. i have tried arch 2011 also with the same result. i think there is a setting that somehow changed and i can't figure out what it is, or should i chalk this up to a program malfunction and start from scratch in a top view (which works fine).

AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Get Dimensions To Default Close To The View
Mar 8, 2012I have dimensioned hundreds of drawings with the Ordinate Dimension command in Inventor 5.1. I'm now using Inventor 2011 and I'm having lots of issues using this command. When I first set up the dimensions, I can't get the dimensions to default close to the view. They almost always want to be on the very edge of the title block. I don't think this is a sttings problem, because occasionally they will lock to where I want them. What am I doing wrong?
The first attachment is how they go on their own. In the second attachment, I have manually moved them, but at 1 dimension per move, it's slow, and also hard to keep the all aligned.

Additionally, when I try to add lines to an object that is far from the x-y plane, the mouse position responds to the line's location as if it were drawing on the x-y plane.
Do I have to continually make custom UCS coordinates just to draw in 3d without hassle? There are other times when this does not happen (perhaps only when my 3d object is very near the x-y plane...

Sep 21, 2012Recently when I have placed a view of an assembly into an idw drawing, then try to dimension distances between parts it gives me strange looking dimensions, or no dimensions at all. It looks as though the dimensions are going from the edges of each part at different angles, when I want them to be parallel to the view. I just want the dimension from a line to a line in that view as though it is 2d, but it is acting like it is still in 3d. I do not know if their is a setting that will change this or not.
