How do i draw dimensions in a certain 3d view so that it shows up according to that view? For example, I'm in isometric view but when i draw a dimension it shows up in 2d at wrong angle.

I don't know whether I pressed something and switched off the dimensions display. When I started to use Autocad I could type in the dimensions of a box I wanted to draw and it would be highlighted in blue to let me know whether I was typing in dimensions for the height or the width of the box, but now I can't see it displayed. And when I click on line a previously drew it no longer shows what the dimension of that line anymore.

My problem is that, i can only draw in the top view, but when i change the view, in the viewcube to front, left, and draw a circle or a polygon, only appears a thin line.
Before when i changue the view to another face, i can draw circles or any form. I think is something related to the UCS., and the Z axis
I'm using Auto Architecture 2013 and the dimensions are always coming in on layer A-Anno-Dims; which is fine for plans. I also use dimensions for reflected ceiling plans as wells as other plan options. I want to set the dimension on the current layer, but no matter where I choose the command (ie command line, ribbon, toolbar, tool palette) it comes in on the same layer. Can I turn this option off? Is there a variable that I can chage?

Decided to uninstall and reinstall software. I now have software fully deploying but if you draw a square it views like a rectangle.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt times when I am dimensioning a dwg in paperspace one of the dimensions will assume the viewport scale when the dwg does a regen. Its as if the DIMLFAC will be set to something other than 1but its only for one or two dimensions. I check the DIMLFAC var for thje dwg and its set properly to (1). Since I am dimensioning in paperspace i have the DIMASSOC set to (2).
As you can imagine this is a huge problem when I send the dwg out for fabrication. What is the problem and how can I stop this from happening on random dwgs to random dimensions?
I like my Dimenion Extension Lines to be hidden if over another object, so I use the Draw Order button "Send to Back", but it gets a bit tedious to do it every time.
I searched this forum and found a thread that explains how to create a keyboard command to do it, which is useful, but I'm wondering can I set a property of Dimensions (or any other object for that matter) so that when it is created its Draw Order is automatically set to the Back (or the front, if I wish)?
I have never gotten this to work, but had put little effort into it until recently. Thus far I have checked my project standards to make sure "match sheet views to view" is checked to "yes".
In both View drawing and the sheet- VISRETAIN is set to 1.
the VPLAYEROVERRIDESMODE is set to 1
I am working on drawings that are in my current project through project navigator. I am using ACA 2010 and not sure what else I need to do. I turn off all the unwanted layers in the view drawing, then create a sheet and xref in the view to model space- all the layers reset, and I again have to turn off all the unwanted layers. If I change a layer color in the view drawing, it does not change in the sheet drawing upon save and refresh.
I hate wasting time repeating the same task over and over....
i draw up all of my walls, i connect them properly, cleanup etc. then i want to trim them with my roof slabs and what i see? i see my walls suddenly dissappear in 3d view but are still correctly shown on plan view? i know it has something to do with roofline because when i tried to project them automatically to ontu my roof slabs the walls dissappeared too!

Is there an option other than the Structural Catalog and placing each "beam" individually or arraying it? After a few placements the snaps act with a mind of their own and it's maddening! View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using AutoCAD since, well, for many years now. But i've only learned the basics, and recently found out about the Architecture version which simplifies so much. My projects are usually just for fun, drawing my own home, or planning things, making cutting designs for furniture etc. I've recently made a pretty exact floorplan and facade view of my house in acad (not architecture) for an application to build a terrace outside my house, but this was in plain 2D...
Now, I want to start over, using my old drawings as a reference (layers, blocks, not to mention imperial template which nagged me with annotations, plots etc.), but the first thing I want to know is how to "work smart".
- Which template should I use, seeing that acad and acadiso isn't present? I want too use metric as default for all my drawings.
- Should I split it into several drawings inside a project file? (I have no experience with project files). Or should I just use layers and such?
- Can I draw the whole thing as 3D, and still get good floorplans, facade views etc without all the "noise" from other lines as there are no planes to cover the "background noise". I'm not (currently) planning any rendered 3D pictures, but it would be nice to to keep that option available.
- I'm also looking through the content browser (which is also new to me) for electrical installation components as switches, receptacles etc, but can't seem to find it.
I am having a huge problem with two of our projects. Whenever you try to make modifications in the file, it has this error "ERROR: Could not draw text!" in the command line - HUNDREDS of times. (As a matter of fact, it maxes out the amount of lines that the command history will remember.)
Mainly this occurs with ACA objects like walls and doors; does not do it for lines. It will also do this if you "undo" a command involving an ACA object. It also does this if you run an audit on the drawing. THUS, making the drawing very slow.
We have tried to copy out the objects and paste them into our clean template, but it follows along with it.
Is there something that I can delete or remove from the drawing? I need to get this fixed as we are just at 50% and 95% on the files, so I will need to be able to use them for a while. Projects are too big to redraw the files.

I'm adding wall type tags and moving dimension objects (leaders, mostly) around in a plan. Occasionally, maybe 2-3 times an hour, text objects and dimension objects suddenly cannot be moved. When I try to move them, they disappear, and upon Regen they reappear in their original position. AutoCAD does not crash- everything else is fine. I have to close and reopen the drawing to regain the ability to move text and dimension objects. Audit sometimes finds and corrects problems, sometimes not, but either way it seems to have no effect on the problem. My Autosave is set to 30 minutes- probably not a factor, but who knows.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEverytime I select Mtext, specifically in a dimension, Autocad 2010 Arch automatically switches the highlighted (computed measurement) text to Arial before I've done anything. So everytime I have to edit a dimension Mtext, I have to reselect the computed dimension (<> / highlighted text), then select the correct text style again to get it back to the correct text style I'm using (FluxArch ttf). All of my text styles in the file have no association w/ Arial, and all the dimension styles rely on the text styles...so I'm stumped. Do I need to repair Autocad due to it Mtext editor being corrupted or something to get it to work properly again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the 'Room tag with Dimensions' from the Content Browser. When it comes into the drawing, the room name is not centered above the rest of the tag text. So, I opened the block and moved the text and then saved the block. When I go to use the tag again - it tags everything - walls, doors, windows, etc...
Also, the drag and drop function does not work well - I have to drag a tool several times into the drawing from the content browser in order for it to work..
Dimensions appear tiny compared to drawing ,how do I change this?

If it were a rectagular dining table of any size how do I array the dining chairs around the table's shape. Alternatively what if I had a large square table and wanted to array 12 chairs with 3 chairs on on each side of the table ????? I can see lines as I draw once I specify the first point with ortho on or off, but I can't see shapes (dimensions, circles, rectangles, ellipse, or box) while I draw. Once I select the second point the object does appear but a setting has changed and I can't figure out how to get it back to normal.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a problem of net being able to view dimensions in the model space in the current view. i was not paying attention to what view i started the 2d drawing in, but right now it is in the front view. the dimensions lines gets put on a plane that the program has decided and wheather i try to dimension above or below it, it goes to that line. i have also noticed that for some unknown reason the 2d drawing gave itself depth. it is a very large drawing and i have tried to clip parts of it to put on a new drawing it defalts to the front view and i still cannot dimension on it.
I am using arch 2009, and the program did get corrupt during my work and had to reinstall. i have reinstalled several time with the same result. i have tried arch 2011 also with the same result. i think there is a setting that somehow changed and i can't figure out what it is, or should i chalk this up to a program malfunction and start from scratch in a top view (which works fine).
I created 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project. I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?
