AutoCAD Architecture :: Auto Layering And Dimensions In 2013

I'm using Auto Architecture 2013 and the dimensions are always coming in on layer A-Anno-Dims; which is fine for plans. I also use dimensions for reflected ceiling plans as wells as other plan options. I want to set the dimension on the current layer, but no matter where I choose the command (ie command line, ribbon, toolbar, tool palette) it comes in on the same layer. Can I turn this option off? Is there a variable that I can chage?
How do i draw dimensions in a certain 3d view so that it shows up according to that view? For example, I'm in isometric view but when i draw a dimension it shows up in 2d at wrong angle.
recently switched over to AutoCAD 2013 from 2012. A time svae feature I used extensively in 2012 was the auto update feature for dimensions. My workflow is to set up a base plan then xRef that plan to my various sheets where needed in viewport in paperspace. If I set my DIMASSOOC to (2) and then dimension in paperspace I was able to auto update the dimensions with any changes by simply double clicking in the viewport window then switching back to paperspace. I have spent some time researching this feature today without any answers. Would this be just a bug in the new version or is it a feature that has been disabled?
Is it possible to auto-reattach dimensions programmatically?
I have an assembly that I'm suppressing/unsuppressing parts in and my drawing dimensions keep getting orphaned. I discovered the "Preserve Orphaned Annotations" option, which keeps them from disappearing on me. I can then reattach the dimensions via the design doctor, but who wants to click the doctor 6 times for 20+ dimensions?
I am working for a company right now and we design cases. The design process involves creating a rectangle of length and width, extruding it to height and than building a case around it. the sides are 20mm offset from the item itself and the top and bottom are 27mm offset from the item itself.
Is there any way I can avoid having to repeat what im doing over and over every time i create a case. We also have standard latches and handles. The top is also standard being 60mm panel height. There is also standard for spacing between the top panels and bottom panels to allow for tongue and groove.
The automatic save option keeps shutting off on one person in our office. She says she is not doing anything weird but all of a sudden, when she checks her auto save settings, the check box is clear.
I have a wall with gyp on both sides, I can not get the aec dimensions set up to only dimension the stud. It either gives me the overall thickness including the gyp or dimensions each individual component. What is the trick to achieving my goal or is it not possible.
In ACA 2012 there was a nice feature that did the following:
When you finished creating a new Sheet Set in the SSM, it would then immediately open the new Sheet Set in the SSM. (a few seats of ACA 2012 were in use in the office) In ACA2011, it didn't do this. You had to browse for the newly created .dst file to open it. (I was using ACA 2011 at the same time as those others were using ACA 2012).
Now we've all upgraded to ACA 2013 in the office. However, that nice little feature appears to be gone again. Any way to turn that back on in ACA 2013?
I don't know whether I pressed something and switched off the dimensions display. When I started to use Autocad I could type in the dimensions of a box I wanted to draw and it would be highlighted in blue to let me know whether I was typing in dimensions for the height or the width of the box, but now I can't see it displayed. And when I click on line a previously drew it no longer shows what the dimension of that line anymore.
After having a problem projecting my walls to my roof slab (flat roof), which worked fine in previous sessions; and then trying the standard solutions of making sure my walls clean up properly, etc., I determined the problem was actually in that the walls do not like to project to a roof with components. In my last work session, I added a component to my roof. I switched back to a "standard" roof slab, projected the walls, and then switched back again to my roof with components.
I'm adding wall type tags and moving dimension objects (leaders, mostly) around in a plan. Occasionally, maybe 2-3 times an hour, text objects and dimension objects suddenly cannot be moved. When I try to move them, they disappear, and upon Regen they reappear in their original position. AutoCAD does not crash- everything else is fine. I have to close and reopen the drawing to regain the ability to move text and dimension objects. Audit sometimes finds and corrects problems, sometimes not, but either way it seems to have no effect on the problem. My Autosave is set to 30 minutes- probably not a factor, but who knows.
Everytime I select Mtext, specifically in a dimension, Autocad 2010 Arch automatically switches the highlighted (computed measurement) text to Arial before I've done anything. So everytime I have to edit a dimension Mtext, I have to reselect the computed dimension (<> / highlighted text), then select the correct text style again to get it back to the correct text style I'm using (FluxArch ttf). All of my text styles in the file have no association w/ Arial, and all the dimension styles rely on the text styles...so I'm stumped. Do I need to repair Autocad due to it Mtext editor being corrupted or something to get it to work properly again?
i have a problem in Architecture 2012, First i can't use AEC dimensions because the tool is not found in the workspace and i'm using the loaded architecture work space.also i cannot get into the cui, i click on it and it just stops working.
I am using the 'Room tag with Dimensions' from the Content Browser. When it comes into the drawing, the room name is not centered above the rest of the tag text. So, I opened the block and moved the text and then saved the block. When I go to use the tag again - it tags everything - walls, doors, windows, etc...
Also, the drag and drop function does not work well - I have to drag a tool several times into the drawing from the content browser in order for it to work..
When I add text and dimensions to my drawing it appears tiny on screen.What is the correct setting for text size for A4 and A3 drawings,And how do I set this?
AutoCAD insists on stacking fractions. I've tried everything I can think of to get the Auto Stack dialogue box to come up, but sometime I must have checked the "do not show me this again" box. I can't figure out how to reset the default to horizontal fractions.
How do I control the 'auto' option under DIMSPACE?
I have found that the entry listed as 'Jog Height Factor' under the 'Linear Jog Dimension' are of the 'Symbols and Arrows' tab of dimension style does the trick. However, does that control a variable?
I am in search of a add on program or a lisp that I can change an architects layers to the layers we use. I know layer translation command is available but every time I have to select what the layers translate to. It would be nice if there was a way to add the new architect layers into a database so when we run the lisp or program the layers will automatically change to our layers we use.
When I am working with 3D models, autocad keeps changing my ucs by a face I am near. I want to work in the current ucs and not change. How to change this setting?
I have one drawing with several thousand instances of the same block in it. Each block has a 'name' attribute. I want to populate those block attributes with a spreadsheet. What is the best way in AutoCAD 2013 to do that?
Ideas: the old ATTOUT, ATTIN commands from Express Tools....rather a dated method, but it might work

Data Extraction Wizard: I think is just for data extraction from a drawing, but again not sure.
In 2010, I thought I remember the grid snap would automatically turn off when I was in a command for selecting stuff, then after completing my selection, the grid snap would automatically turn back on. For instance, if I wanted to isolate a layer, with grid snap on and set to 1/2x1/2", the object I would try to select would be in the middle of all the grid points and my curser would just jump around it. I'd have to F9 to turn off grid snap, then turn it back on when I was done selecting.
I am trying to figure out if there is a LISP or autocad add-on to start a library of architectural layers to be translated to our layers. So all I would need to do is hit a toolbar button and the LISP/Program would take a layer from archetects prints that I already added to a database that already knows what layer to change that layer to and so if there are different layers in the CAD drawing I can add them to the database so it will be saved for future layer translations. So once we get the database started I am hoping after awhile I wouldn't have to add any layers since they are already in the database to change the layers too.
When I go to open up any of my files, any dimesion that has an "8" in it, is automatically changed to a different text font. It just happens to every "8" and no other number or letter. I have to individual change them on all my files. How can I fix this? It just started doing this today.
I'm new to Autocad Mechanical. How can I get rid of the arc on radial dimensions in release 2013? When a radius dimension is put in then moved an arc is automatically put in and the arrow head snaps to the arc, which seems it cannot be removed.
