The layer is on and the ground levels on the architectural drawing in model view show the number and the box surrounding them however in the drawing window be it in the numbers have dissapeared and we are left with only the boxes ?

I know that the solution is to use alternate units with Architectural units format, but how mach is the multiplier that I have to use?
I have no experience in British metric system.
So I left the multiplier 25.4 as AutoCAD prompt.

Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..

But I can find no way to use these "edges" or "lines" or "entities" or whatever they are, later in a drawing view sketch. No way to project them from Model Sketch to Drawing View sketch. I can attach leaders and dimensions to these Model Sketch entitites but I can find no way to use them in a sketch owned by the drawing view. Am I missing something?

how can i rotate a drawing view in model space and paper space? UCS -> new -> 3 point -> and saving the view works, but trying to figure out how to do this with paper space now. My purpose if for pulling construction lines from plans, for elevations. In the past I simply rotated the drawing, but if i had a layer turned off it would mess up their positioning.

When you have a part with a thread feature, the default setting should show the thread feature in the drawing view...rather than making the user right click the view and select "Display Thread Feature". I don't understand why this doesn't show up in the drawing automatically...it is, after all, a feature on the part.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old dwg that I used to add new data to. I also inserted a block produced by Revit to get a building elevation. I am not sure when or how it happend, but my drawing scale units are stuck on arch. I am talking about the bottom right hand corner of the screen on the status bar where there is the spot to set drawing scale. When I open by clikcing the arrow all the scales are in architectural units. I can add a custom scale of 1"=100', but it does not otherwise appear in the list. I wasn't going to wrry about it, but when I layout a plan/pro series they do not seem to be scaling correctly (and I cannot find a place to specify what scale I want the views to be at). UNITS, -DWGUNITS & -AECDWGUNITS don't fix it, they are all set to decimal, etc. Using the seetings tab to change the drawing settings, everything is set to feet, there is no place to specify arch units, the 100 scale drawing is shown as a custom scale.
This is C3D release 2012, on a 64bit Win7 Pro machine, everything is up to date.
Where I can change the units for the drawing scale?

I'm trying to edit an architectural Title Block. I've went into block editor and did attribute definitions. However, when I save it I can't insert it into a drawing. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, I have used Gimp to downsize large architectural drawing images from Tiff's to jpgs. Well, I always thought I was downsizing them. In the past, the process always seemed to make the files more usable in the application where I need to use the architectural drawings without a significant loss in quality.
I will open a tiff in Gimp, save as jpg, export if prompted, then select quality of 40 or 50 percent, and the result is a usable file that is significantly smaller than the source tiff file.Today, the source tiff which is 900 mb in size is being converted to jpg which is 6 or 7 mb in size, totally unusable.
Additionally, if I simply open the source in Gimp, save it to another directory from Gimp without making any changes, the file also grows to 6 or 7 mb. What am I doing wrong this morning that I have not been doing wrong for the last 6 months?
Using version 2.6.11 in Ubuntu 10.10 if that matters.I have a version of 2.7 on my Windows XP OS, and it will lock up trying to open these drawings.
It's curious, because, at 900 MB, I typically can use the drawings without even altering or downsizing them.What I really cannot understand is why Gimp is causing unaltered files to grow in size when saving them.
I need to copy a layer from one drawing to another, the problem is that one of them is in model and the other one is in paper. The method I tried using was: I used the q select command to copy all objects from one layer on to the clipboard and then tried pasting it in the other drawing (which was in paper) - and nothing got pasted.

The viewport will show the selected area. find the old VBA code that achived this and the .net code I am trying with. .Net code always gives some exception.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEach time when I place a part in base view, have to follow few steps; go through view label, format Text, than choose type option - [Properties-Model] and its property - [Part Number], than placing dimensions. it takes long time and very repetitive, especially, when placing a hundreds of parts and I was wondering if there is an option, to set up view label; [Properties - Model ]& [Part number], as a DEFAULT. So, each time placing a part, in base view it will come up with correct label. Also, overall dimensions, can it be retrieve using parameters of the part?

If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs this software continues to change it's behavior of function over nite. I am assuming due to new updates in inventor. I can no longer get my drawing to update per changes made to the model. This started about 2 weeks ago.
Change are completed perfectly, I open the drawing and it still has the old model represented. When I right on the view and open the model. Model contains all of my changes, but the drawing does not seem to care or notice that changes have been made and saved. I even closed inventor and reopened.
Even though I'm paid by the hour I really do not want to delete all views and start all over.
So the only answer is to delete all views replace them re dimension them and of course add any time consuming sketches.
10-15 minutes change now is going to take 3 hours. WHY can't autodesk make a stable piece of software?
I have received a drawing that is only showing in the first layout tab on a contractor's template. The drawing is in a viewport of course. The drawing does not show in the model space.
1. Is it possible to send a drawing only in the Layout tab?
2. Is it possible for me to do something to view the drawing in model space and how is it done?
3. Could it simply be a compatibility issue between the contractor's.
how to identify the model associated with a particular PL on a drawing. I'm able to find a PL and write to the header which is cool. But I'm trying to determine the model associated with the BOM pipline so I can get it's P/N iproperty and write that to the PL header.
