View 2 RepliesI found that when I open the autocad using Classic view, the icon are dimmed as attache file, however, when I open it in annotation view, it is normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from 2007 to 2012 and the entire look and feel of the program is different. Like Microsoft, AutoCad has "upgraded" everything so overnight i have managed to go from marginally competent to totally inept!
I really really would like to know if it is possible to switch back to the classic view with the old tool bars and commands.
AutoCad 2012 and 13- PROJECT NAVIGATOR or project browser disappears in Classic view.
We are running 2012 and like the look of the older versions. We are using the Autocad Classic workspace, BUT the Project Browser and all that jazz is missing. Where or how do i get it back?
Is there a way to switch to the classic tray view in AutoCAD 2014? What I am referring to as "classic" was the tray that had the more rectangular icons with words in them as opposed to graphics. The buttons would highlight if active. To ensure I am clear on what I am referring to as the "tray": the new tray has smaller, square icons, shown below.

Smoke classic shortcut is not working for Schematic vuew in CF, tried on three machines. Also why there is short cat for all "delete" "add" but not just plain move anymore. space M is not working. What's the logic?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project. I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I join the entities? I guess if they are only lines, I can just create a new polyline with every vertices of the lines.
But I have arcs as parts of the entities, I don't think I can just link as a polyline for an arc.
So I tried the following...
ObjectId[] oIDs = oIDList.ToArray();Editor ed = doc.Editor;ed.SetImpliedSelection(oIDs);PromptSelectionResult psr = ed.SelectImplied();if (psr.Status == PromptStatus.OK){ doc.SendStringToExecute("._PEDIT
_m
_p
_y
_join
", true, false, false);}
It works, but this is not the perfect solution I wanted. I need to Transform the joined polyline, meaning I need to get the Object Id of newly created joined polyline. I guess I can use Object Appended?
doc.SendStringToExecute("-view
top
", true, false, false);
Well, I know this would change the view.
But I need to do this in the middle of some process. (I tried it, but the next step gets executed before view change is done.) I am changing the view to use SelectWindowPolygon().
So I need to do this by lines of codes. (So that the view change gets done before the next step.) I found a couple solutions but the codes contain some methods that is not supported in ARX 2007.
I am losing my dashboard setup when closing drawings/autocad, getting a bit annoying now, having set it back up for the umpteenth time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust trying to bring in a Volumes Dashboard report from IE10 to Excel 2010 (it all worked fine until I my PC was upgraded from IE9/Excel 2007)
When the report is in IE10, I Select All and paste to Excel (as I always have done) and the numbers are not recognised as numbers (there is no convert text to numbers prompt) and seem to have a leading space which Find/Replace can't find and replace.
If I right click in IE10 and Export to Excel, most of the exported data has a weird character preceding it (but which can be found and replaced). What this character is and how to stop it appearing?

Is there a way I can sort the columns in the dashboard alphabetically? Normally you just click the title in these windows to toggle the way it sorts it, but you cannot do that with this tool. Its making my cut/fill report look messy, as the surface volumes are not in any order.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open the Volumes Dashboard in a drawing and then close it, my cursor and my WCS compass start blinking erratically, and the program seems more apt to freeze up when I try to do other things from that point on, especially if I try to move to a drawing in another tab. If I bring back the volumes dashboard, it's fine again, but then I've got the annoying outlining of my volume surfaces that I don't want. how to handle this? Is it just an unavoidable glitch in the program?
(I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014.)
Everytime I click on the sketch button/icon inventor changes my view and rotates / re-angles my view. When I'm make those narrow sketches inventor messes up my view.
How to stop this.. I'm guessing settings of course but which ones exactly if you've done this and what are the down sides to turning this off?
We have a number of drawings, where the views in paperspace viewports are not orthogonal to the XY plane. Is there any way that we can adjust the viewport view to a TOP view (a view aligned to the XY plane) without changing the viewport scale?
If I activate the viewport and use either PLAN or View->TOP my viewport scale is destroyed, and the view is rotated along the Z-axis.
How does one change the field of view while in perspective mode? I am not referring to a camera's field of view, but the field of view which is displayed on your screen while panning and "walking" around a model. Similar to how sketchup lets you change from 1 to 120 degrees at any given time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedTrying to model a car dashboard, not the wheel or gears but the big shape you hit your knees on if you sit in a car. Following some simple box modeling to get the basic form, apply turbosmooth, add some edge loops to get the right amount of curvature on some edges, great.
I'm miserably failing the next step, which is adding in details like lcd screen and vents. But even something as simple as making a crease that goes left to right across the whole vehicle, since those loops end up breaking the smoothing and the nice subtle curve is gone.
So next I tried geting the basic shape and adding an edit poly modifier on top then another turbosmooth on top of that. But it's getting very out of hand with the amount of faces.
Another idea was putting in the detail first on a flat plane, then using FFD 4x4 to bring the curve back, but then I'm not able to pull out the pieces that came from the box modelling method, how the armrest area comes out from big piece itself.
Am I missing a method of doign this? I don't want to have to resort to just unwrappign it and adding my details with a normal map. I want to use real geometry, and I've seen some great models in the past with this kind of detail, but don't know how to get there.
I thought I kind of understood level of detail and master views but apparently not. I have an I-Beam that I have cut and bent in the part file. In the drawing I would like to show the beam both full length and in the bend configuration. From my reading I thought I would be able to create one view with the part in final shape and one view where I suppress all the bends and show the part with the cuts in it but all flattened out. I created view1 with the part bent, I then created view 2 and supressed all the bends. Unfortunately the bare does not toggle back and forth in the part, and when I place the part in a drawing. I am still not bale to have a difference in the part in the drawing with the two configurations either. What is the proper method of obtaining the two different views?
Also is there a way to request software enhancements?
We create many large assemblies where the shop uses a cut sheet to make the parts. Since many of the parts have secondary opperations like forming or cutting done to them i like to create a second sheet with the piece parts dimensioned on the sheet. In SolidWorks i would simply create the views, create an assembly BOM and link the balloons to that BOM, end of story. Not in Inventor! And creating a million LOD views to hide all but the one part in each view is not an answer for a professional CAD program.

I am using the following routine definition then calling the different view poins from a pop up menu.
Each time I switch veiw points it drastically zooms out. I would like to maintain the "zoom distance" if there is such a thing when switching views.
Ideally, like when in 3dorbit, I would like it to swing views around similar to that but to the defined viewpoints as below....
(DEFUN V (inp) (setq inp (strcase inp))
(cond ((= inp "T") (SETQ IXY 270) (SETQ FXY 90)) ((= INP "F") (SETQ IXY 270) (SETQ FXY 0)) ((= INP "RE") (SETQ IXY 90) (SETQ FXY 0)) ((= INP "L") (SETQ IXY 180) (SETQ FXY 0)) ((= INP "RI") (SETQ IXY 0) (SETQ FXY 0)) ((= INP "URI") (SETQ IXY 0) (SETQ FXY 45)) ((= INP "UL") (SETQ IXY 180) (SETQ FXY 45)) ((= INP "UF") (SETQ IXY 270) (SETQ FXY 45)) ((= INP "URE") (SETQ IXY 90) (SETQ FXY 45)) ((= INP "URF") (SETQ IXY 315) (SETQ FXY 35)) ((= INP "URR") (SETQ IXY 45) (SETQ FXY 35)) ((= INP "ULF") (SETQ IXY 225) (SETQ FXY 35)) ((= INP "ULR") (SETQ IXY 135) (SETQ FXY 35)) );COND (COMMAND "VPOINT" "R" IXY FXY) );END V.LSP

I'm new to AutoCad Map 2011. If I recall correctly from the last time I used a map product (3D 2006) there were map tools available from the drop down menu. I have set my workspace to map classic but cannot locate any map tools. I've tried entering the command "CUI" but cannot locate any map tools there either. I was most interested in coordinate systems, I read about the coordinate tracker in 2011 but I cannot locate that either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed Autocad Architecture 2013 only to learn that Autodesk once again is hard at work making our lives difficult. For some reason they seem to want us ALL to use the ribbon. The ribbon in my opinion is HORRIBLE. I MUCH prefer the classic workspace since I do not use many toolbars and I key in the vast majority of my commands. As such, I get rid of the ribbon because it takes up too much space considering the fact that I only use a handful of buttons from the ribbon. But Autodesk has thrown a bunch of obstacles in my way.
1. Type "ribbonclose" - this closes the ribbon.
2. Type "cui" - this bring up the Customize User Interface dialogue box.
3. Right click on workspaces. Enter a new name for your new workspace.
4. (optional) Right click on toolbars to make your own. Then drag and drop commands from below into your new toolbar. You may also notice that you no longer have toolbars, soooo..
5. Type "menuload" - things brings up the Load/Unload Customizations dialogue box.
6. Click "Browse".
7. Select the first file ending in ".cuix". Click "Open". Click "Load". If you get an error message don't worry.
8. Repeat step 7 for each and every file ending in ".cuix".
Now you have tool bars and menus. However, the Express menu may STILL not work.
9. Then visit this webpage:URL.... to get the Express menu working.
10. Close autocad. and re-open autocad.
11. Set up your screen the way you like it.
12. Either click on the workspace switching icon on the lower right portion of your screen or type "workspace" and select "Save Current As".
13. Save your workspace with whatever name you like.
