I am trying to add the measure command which adds nodes / points to what I select to the tool bar and it wont let me do it when I select it out of the commands search box.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to use the DIVIDE command but can't see the points (nodes) it creates after the command is complete. I have the OSNAP setting on to snap to nodes which I can't even see. The QSELECT command let me see that they are indeed in the drawing, and that is the only way I can select them.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am doing takeoffs from a CAD drawing. Without getting too deep into it, I have one origin point, and then I have 200 or so points around the origin. I'm trying to find the fastest way to get the X offset, and the Y offset between each point and the origin.
Right now I'm drawing two lines to connect each point to the origin, then using PROPERTIES on the lines where they meet to get each length - I need to be able to see the numbers on the screen for a second while I copy them into a database. But I'm wondering if it would be easier to write a script, or if there happens to be a tool that could do this with fewer clicks.
I imported survey data and had auto lines drawn. then I rotated my points/nodes. -- how do i get my linework to update?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a block that contains attributes. When I select the block, you can see all the nodes/insert points from the attributes within the text. I was wondering if there is anyway to have the block only show the insertion point of the block and not the attributes? The attached image shows what I am talking about.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy surveyor gave me a topo survey done in no particular coordinate system. He set up his total station on a PK nail and gave it a coordiante of (5000, 5000, 100). I used this survey to generate a surface.
I also have a site survey of the same site, done in state plane coordinate system. the two surveys have mulitple common points; pk nails, iron pins ect.
What i need to do is move the points for the topo survey over to the survey that is in state plane. A simple move command will not do this.
How do i go about moving these points to thier correct location without having to manually edit the .txt file?

I have what seems like an odd, but needed request here. I have an engineer that is looking for a way to measure between two lines that are not co-planar, but he wants the measurement in a specific plane.
Basically he wants to be able to select a plane or line, then be able to select the second plane or line and have the tool automatically "project" it to the plane of the first selection and give the angle in that plane.
Ref the attached - the purple lines are in the XY plane, the blue line is not, but he wants to measure the angle from the X axis to that line but in the XY plane as seen by the green line that was manually projected to that plane.
Without having to manually create a sketch and project the entities that need to be measured (this example is an extremely simplistic one), how can this be done? Measurements in this way need to be done in numerous complex angles.
He's claiming Catia, Pro/E and of course, SW can all do this "project" within the measure tool. I figured if that's indeed the case, Inventor sure be able to.....JD, you're the resident expert on SW & Inventor....do you know what I'm referring to?
I have moved onto a new machine and there are 2 AC functions I need to change.
1. I used to be able to toggle between Ortho on/off by holding the SHIFT key, on this machine it doesn't activate. Is there a command for this? I know I could use F8 but my hand is over the SHIFT key when I draw so its easier to do it this way.
2. When I activate the MEASURE command AC automatically activates Dynamic Input which makes my cursor jumpy when I move it. How can I stop this from happening? To clarify, I don't want Dynamic Input on when I am in the measure command.

When you measure something with the distance command, according to the type of file, the last zoom you did, your graphic card and probably the speed of the wind, the little red line won't show.
Normally when you measure something, a thin red line is shown were the distance is calculated. But in my laptop, and both pc's of my client, Inventor shows this line only in parts, not in assemblies. I've got a Quadro 2000M, my client got Quadro FX 1700 and 1800, all with the recommended drivers.
So I tried with 3 other laptops. On one of them (with a K2000M) if you do a measure right after the file open, it give you the line, if you zoom with the measure command open, the line disappear and won't show again until you close and open the file again. But if you zoom without the command active, the line is shown normally. But it's not working like that on all machines.
How to use the divide and measure command , and also I knew how to change the point style. But after I used the divide command to split my object into 5 parties. I can not click the point I created.
For a instance I have a 10 meters line and I used the divide command to divide it into 5 parties, and so I have 4 points. But if i want to draw some thing on the new point my mouse could not click it.

I cant do what the guy did in the video. when I move my mouse on those points I created I could not connect a line on the point like the guy did.
I want to add the Measure (Distance) command to my quick access toolbar. When I right click on the Measure button the "Add to quick access toolbar" is grayed out in 2013.
Also why can't they make it so when I add something to the quick access toolbar stays added to all file types. I have to add it to .ipt, .iam, .dwg...
BTW Not real impressed with 2013 so far.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a lisp that prompts you to select multiple lines, and then prompts to enter a name of a block you wish to use. With that information use the measure command to place the entered block along the selected lines with the spacing set to the value in the blocks attribute.
I have a lisp that does most of this with the exception of the extracting the value of the block size to use as the distance between blocks, the current lisp just prompts for the distance.
I have a lot of blocks with different spacing so it is hard to remember the distance.

I use this application to give me precise pixel color information by rolling my cursor over the area needing color info.In addition to this information, the window also displays dynamically the x and y pixel coordinates of my cursor. good for measuring pixel dimensions of an object. This feature has now disappeared. I've upgraded to Mountain Lion..Would that have eliminated this feature with Digital Color Meter? Is there any way of using the cursor to measure pixel dimensions between two points?

I have a bunch of points that I am trying to turn into a solid object. I am doing this by using the 3D poly command and then LOFT, UNION and CONVTOSOLID. this has previously worked well, but this time when I use the LOFT command it does not produce a 'closed' surface, but rather a grid like surface which wont convert to a solid. Are there different settings for the LOFT command, and if so, How do I change them to produce a closed surface?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a dimension style that annoyingly adds the number "1/8" at the end of every angular dimension. Linear dimensions are fine.
I already checked and there is no suffix specified in the style. I also tried the dim/up feature, but the "1/8" still appears.
Degrees in "Units" are set to decimal. They are also set in decimal within the dimstyle.
Just to clarify, the number "1/8" is added after the actual dimension. I drew a 90 deg rectangle and the dim shows 90 1/8.
I could certainly try to create a new dimstyle from scrap, but perhaps any better tip.
What settings has changed to make any polyline I offset to add a radius fillet to it. See attachment

I am trying to make a macro that adds the vendor column to the end of a parts list, sort by it first, then by part number, renumber the parts list, then save the overrides to the BOM. Everything works great except for saving the overrides to the BOM. The item number sort order gets jumbled back up. I am using Inventor 2008 Pro SP2. Below is the

when I export a 1024 wide graphic, I am getting 1026 wide PNG files from it. This is throwing off tiling in my game. Here is what I am seeing:

I will have to keep bringing them into Inkscape and exporting them as PNG from there after doing all the work in Illustrator.
I had to create a boundary map and place points to all corners. How to export these newly created points back into my data collector (Ranger) and also I'm trying to figure out how to print out a points list.

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?
there is a way to convert land desktop aecc points to cogo points and use the full description?
I do not have access to the ldt files nor to the Descriprion keys file. It would be nice if there was an option to preserve full descriptions when converting (that would be just too simple).
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, my freehand lasso tool in CS2 has been, by default, adding to the first selection I make without me asking it to. Usually you would have to hold shift down to do this, but it is doing it automatically. How do I stop this?
Caps lock is not on.
I would prefer it to be back to normal because I often deselect using the lasso tool by clicking out of a faulty selection I have made.
I hope that this makes some sense.
