View 5 RepliesI have moved onto a new machine and there are 2 AC functions I need to change.
1. I used to be able to toggle between Ortho on/off by holding the SHIFT key, on this machine it doesn't activate. Is there a command for this? I know I could use F8 but my hand is over the SHIFT key when I draw so its easier to do it this way.
2. When I activate the MEASURE command AC automatically activates Dynamic Input which makes my cursor jumpy when I move it. How can I stop this from happening? To clarify, I don't want Dynamic Input on when I am in the measure command.
Having only recently started using Autocad 2012 (I mainly used various versions of LT over the last 10+ years) I have noticed a few strange goings on.
It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes whilst in a command ("move" for example), when I go to click on an object or pull a window, a separate, totally random command activates itself. Why this happens, I just hit escape a couple of times & continue what I was doing.
I'm not sure if it is a case of me, in my haste, missing my intended object & hitting the right click button (which I use as a return & not a drop down menu).
I use wipeout command in creating Dynamic block it shows some problems. When I try to print the drawing the Dynamic objects which is I add wipeout command goes to black color. The problem only with printing, the PDF and plot previews are look fine. I tried so many times..I have attached my drawing file. check out the dynamic blocks and wipeout.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've tried to nail down exactly when and why this happens but have yet to figure it out. Usually happens (but not all the time) when I'm using the path tool and hit command+z to reverse a node I've created, but then the cursor swtiches to the magnifying glass/zoom tool.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is something I should know as a long time CAD user. I have line of points, ~200 on the screen and I want to draw a polyline through them without selecting each point. I know there was a command to select the first point and the last and ACAD would draw the line between. I am using AutoCAD 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a little lisp routine to draw splines, but can't get it working. The basic idea is that i first select a set of points that i can feed to my spline command.
(defun c:test2 () (setq pt (getpoint "
define point:")) (setq ptlist nil) (while (not (equal pt nil)) (setq ptlist (cons pt ptlist)) (setq pt (getpoint "
define point:")) ) )
Now i need to draw a spline based on these points. My plan whas to simply use the acad command itself. But this option didn't work.
(command "spline" ptlist "")
Then i tried using the vla-addspline command. But i can't even get this one working .
I have a bunch of points that I am trying to turn into a solid object. I am doing this by using the 3D poly command and then LOFT, UNION and CONVTOSOLID. this has previously worked well, but this time when I use the LOFT command it does not produce a 'closed' surface, but rather a grid like surface which wont convert to a solid. Are there different settings for the LOFT command, and if so, How do I change them to produce a closed surface?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy new HP laptop has functions assigned to the F function keys, and this disables the autocad functions for these keys. I am told by HP that it is not possible to turn off these functions to allow cad to use them. I just tried working without using the F3 and F8 keys, and I am crippled. How can I assign another key - say Q - to toggle ortho?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Autocad LT 2012 and ortho is only working vertical. Circles appear as straight lines and arcs won't draw at all. If I copy an object or text from another drawing, it pastes as a straight line. I also can't rotate anything except vertically.

When I pan around a drawing by holding down the scroll wheel of the mouse button, I sometimes pan quite slowly, AutoCAD decides to zoom to extents. I know I have not double clicked the scroll wheel.

When I select any visual style other than '2D Wireframe' in AutoCad 2011 for mac it stops me from being able to edit it at all, not even select any objects.
I trialed AutoCad 2012 and it allowed me to edit solids whilst they were shaded. Is this a feature difference, a bug, or something that I haven't set up right in 2011?
Is there a quick way of achieving the following:
You have an object rotated at an arbitrary angle
You want to rotate it back to a 90 degree line by snapping it.
I can do this by measuring the arbitrary angle and then rotating it manually based on my measurement.
I am running AutoCAD 2012 and i am having a problems with drawing a line. The problem i have with it, i have changed some settings and i can't remember what i changed. But how to change it back.
First let me explain what i am talking about. Once i am in front view and trying to drawing a line vertical and with ortho on, it will not allow me to draw a line vertically either up or down, only horiztonal. It looks like to me that ortho is lock on top ortho only.
I can't use F8 key for Ortho mode in Auto Cad 2012. I checked CUI and it seems to be ok but when I press the F8 key It doesn't work. as matter of fact, after pressing F8 key, line type manager window is opened!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to extrude cut an object which passes through another but I wish for the cut to ignore the other geometry and only cut the other. I have attached the model. I do not wish the cut to cut throuh the curved surface and only through the vertical pieces seen. Is there an option to cut and ignore certain solid bodies in the process? This is not an assembly btw.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am working on Autocad 2012, and am having a problem drawing on faces under another face, whilst working on 3d objects. I have the view set to 2d wireframe, and can select objects underneath whilst not drawing/modifying anything, however as soon as i try to draw it just selects the uppermost face to draw on.
Is there a button to allow me to snap to different layers whilst drawing?
Why, when I edit a sketch in context of another assembly do sketches of other parts suddenly become visible?.

Any way to permanently disable polar. Like if autocad were to automatically switch to ortho every 10 mins or something?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would love for my 2011 and 2013 to work the same as my 2008 does.
In 2008, when I grab a grip and stretch it with either ortho or polar turned on, I get a little tooltip beside the crosshairs. All it says is the distance and the angle, and whether it is Ortho or Polar. For example, if I stretch to the left with ortho on, it may say
Ortho: 16.55 < 180°
Or if I stretch up and to the right with Polar on, it will say
Polar: 16.55 < 45°
I really, really really want this back! This is not dynamic input, I hate all that ridiculous clutter around my crosshairs. But this little info box is absolutely invaluable!
I have checked the Tooltip setting (on in all versions), And I've been playing with all the Dynamic Input settings, but I can't get it to work. The odd part is that 2011 was working until about a week ago. I'm not sure if 2013 was or not.
