I love the feature of Object Snap Tracking but for some reason or another it has stopped working. I normally use F11 to turn it on or go through the drafting settings menu to turn it on. The Object Snap Tracking box is checked and should work, but it doesn't. Is there a magic variable that needs to be set?
I used object snap tracking for years.Since I upgraded to AutoCad 2014 why does object snap tracking only work with Dynamic input turned on?
Personally I do not like to work with Dynamic imput on, when I use object snap tracking with out DI turned on it doen't work right. Past versions worked fine. What do I do to get this back?
Object Snap.jpg I want to pick the point where the circle hits the edge of the box but there seems to be no Intersection there. But they are on the same plane!
I'm working in Autocad 2009 full, I've "polar tracking" ON, "Object snap", as well as "Object snap tracking" but still my polar tracking doesn't work. How to resolve this problem?
I have a drafter that is using AutoCAD LT 2013. When they are drafting it acts like the Snap is on and Poplar tracking does not seem to be working. They do not have Snap on and they are using Polar tracking.
Have looked at all the setting that I can think of and compaired it to my AutoCAD 2009, full version. Our setting are identical. We both have Windows 7. I have mine set to look like XP, they have theirs with a custom looking display.
I have a rather simple 3rd party custom object... I tried to get its bounding box but the coordinates that come back don't seem to relate at all to the object.
What I'd like are the coordinates of two nodes the object contains...
Is it possible to apply the autocad cursor in some why with the node object snap to get their coordinates?
I really like the object snap tracking feature to snap between 2 points intersecting but I find it overly sensitive and hard to get it right the first time.
Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity? I use this feature frequently.
in ACAD 2013 if I use object tracking to space an object or dimension (or anything, really), as soon as type on any key the tracking goes away. What can I do to change this? I do not have this problem in 2012.
Having problem of polar tracking extension lines working in one direction, but not perpendicular to that orientation? For example, when drawing a simple rectangle after drawing (2) sides, If I go to snap to my initial starting point to show a vertical extension line to intersect with my third line I am drawing, the vertical extension will not show up, even though the horizontal extension line is visible, and even though it snaps to the my starting point to where I wish have the polar tracking show the vertical extension.
I'm trying to snap one object to the other with vert snap.
It's trying to snap from the center of my object rather then the vert I am hovering over. In the Snap settings I have only "vertex" checked so it should snap to whatever vertex I hover over but no...This keeps up I'm going back to 2008 when all this worked fine.
I am having trouble locking onto a temporary tracking point in autocad 2011. I can't seem to find the start tracking icon and it doesn't recognize the 'TT' command. I have a tracking line, I just can't seem to do it in two dimensions.
Since AutoCAD 2013, I'm not able to use tracking when inserting block from tool palette. Example, I want to insert a door at 6 inches from a wall. I click the door from the tool palette, leave a tracking point at the wall corner, move the cursor in the right direction and type 6 follow by enter. The door is insert randomly in the drawing. It was working perfectly in previous release.
Actually I had to insert the door anywhere in the drawing and moving it at the right place and rotate it if required, it is very tedious.
There ought to be a way to do this, but I don't see how: I record forums, and the presenter frequently wanders back and forth across the stage. I can use the motion tracker to track his wanderings (since the camera is set to a fairly wide angle). What I want to do with the motion tracking information is have the presenter's clip pan back and forth as he walks forth and back - with the net result that he stays in the center of the screen. (I'd use a zoomed portion of the image so that there would be enough to fill the frame.
Is there a way to do this? It would make forum recording so much easier.
When the wind space warp is used, what series of mathematical equations or algorithms is 3ds Max invoking to generate motion based on an input force, turbulence value, etc.?
Are traditional fluid dynamics equations embedded into the calculation process? Is there any way to specifically see how the wind force (strength) and turbulence are interpreted to cause the modeled motion?
Is there any way to switch between wind force (strength) and wind velocity?
Lastly, if one were to have an object billowing in a breeze, is there any way to track the coordinates of a vertex at each point in time? The closest I've come is manually extracting the object's box dimensions at each interval - I would prefer to track how a fixed point on the object moves over time.
My snap to extension feature is not working, and I'm looking to see why. In my object snap menu the extension is selected, and aside from that I'm not sure what else it could be other than bugging out.
The extention line (green dashed) will usually (but not always) show up in the vertical direction but almost never in the horizontal axis.
After I drawn a Polyline or rectangle, I wasn't able to Snap the Object. So measuring was a hard thing to do.I found a solution to this bug: Disable the Linetype Generation. After that snapping will work again.
This problem occurred out of nowhere. It always worked without changing the linetype generation.
AutoCAD exchange or any books that are available on the web. Everyone simply says "here, it exists" but I can't find a description of what object snap enforcement is, nor have I managed to figure it out from its behavior in AutoCAD.
I want to join a couple of lines with arcs. Unfortunately I have got a dxf created with CATIA. When I try to join them with pedit it does not work.
If I move the end point of the circle away and snap it back to the line, I can join them. Blending the Curves together is working (this shouldn't if the endpoints match, right?)
You can see it in this screenshot:
(On the left the circle and line are joined after I snapped them together, on the right they are connected using "Blend Curves" as you notice the tiny white connection)
So here it leads to my question:
Those lines seem not to be lying end to end together so I can join them. Is there a function to snap them together or to automatically ignore/fill such a little gap?
I get inconsistent results when I try to use the object snap to a point such as an intersection in an xref. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Even the "nearest" doesn't seem to recognize the xref consistently. Is there a way to insure that the point is recognized?
How to use keyboard shortcut to allow for a temporary override of my "Nearest" OSNAP. I often find myself pulling leaders from splines and/or circles and need the "Nearest" OSNAP active.
I was in CUI and saw the temp override shortcut key was setup but inactive as it has no ties to any keys. I also saw others setup with shortcuts keys and decided to give them a demo. While in a line command (for example) i held 'SHIFT + C' to trigger the temp override of "Center." It didn't seem to work. Dynamic input popped up as if i was entering "C."
I want 'SHIFT + N' to be temp override for "Nearest" OSNAP.As a side note, i was able to set up ACAD to zoom extents and close dwg simultaneously with 'CTRL + W' without any hiccups.
When using object snap feature, if a particular point has multiple roles, by which I mean it could be {endpoint, node point, circle, intersection, etc.} at the same time, is there a way to toggle the snap point selection?
mt.png
For example, does there existKey or key combination 1: Change the object snap mode to “single” amongst all enabled modes. Key or key combination 2: Iterate one by one through all available modes.
I no longer seem to be able to snap to the nodes of block attributes.
My osnap settings are set to snap to nodes. I wonder whether it's a variable that on my previous version of AutoCAD was set to one thing and the new version defaults to another.
How do I snap my new line to the edge of another object? A workaround is drawing the line over the object, and snap the point back using intersection snapping. I hope you understand.
Using AutoCAD from another drafting program and trying to determine if AutoCAD has a feature I have become used to. The program I am using is Vectorworks and they have these items called loci. They are basically just snap points that do not print and are not actually geometry. They are great though for aligning items and referencing points. Is there a similar item in autocad?
Using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, now installing Service Pack 1 (kept crashing, this time it's working though), and I'm trying to find the area of a pathway that I've drawn in 2D with standard lines. Using the area tool, I want to find the area of the path, but it arcs around a 180 degree corner. I tried getting a rough estimate of the area by clicking at several points along each of the arcs, but after clicking a point where the arc joins the straight line of the straight section of the path, it literally won't let me click the next point. I can, however, specify the next point as long as it's nowher near the arc. Same goes for the polyline tool.
Just got an error code for the Service Pack installation, too. "A problem prevented the service pack from being installed, contact your administrator. Error 1603"
