AutoCad :: Polar Tracking Not Working
May 5, 2009I'm working in Autocad 2009 full, I've "polar tracking" ON, "Object snap", as well as "Object snap tracking" but still my polar tracking doesn't work. How to resolve this problem?

View 9 RepliesHaving problem of polar tracking extension lines working in one direction, but not perpendicular to that orientation? For example, when drawing a simple rectangle after drawing (2) sides, If I go to snap to my initial starting point to show a vertical extension line to intersect with my third line I am drawing, the vertical extension will not show up, even though the horizontal extension line is visible, and even though it snaps to the my starting point to where I wish have the polar tracking show the vertical extension.

strangly enough its does give me one tracking option (read line) wile drawing at 5°
and when i draw a square it seems like my plane is off a bit (prolly 5°, looks like a perspective)
Tried fiddling around with the DSETTINGS command but nothing goes.
so i s my plane off, UCS off, also i get sometimes 1 out of 10 times an innorect SNAP ( snap to a point and its off by a 0,x margin. i
I seem to be having trouble with polar tracking on. With this activated and in front view I can only create a line in up or down (Y) direction. I cannot create a line along the z axis. This happens randomly so I must be overlooking a setting somewhere.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drafter that is using AutoCAD LT 2013. When they are drafting it acts like the Snap is on and Poplar tracking does not seem to be working. They do not have Snap on and they are using Polar tracking.
Have looked at all the setting that I can think of and compaired it to my AutoCAD 2009, full version. Our setting are identical. We both have Windows 7. I have mine set to look like XP, they have theirs with a custom looking display.
I love the feature of Object Snap Tracking but for some reason or another it has stopped working. I normally use F11 to turn it on or go through the drafting settings menu to turn it on. The Object Snap Tracking box is checked and should work, but it doesn't. Is there a magic variable that needs to be set?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince AutoCAD 2013, I'm not able to use tracking when inserting block from tool palette. Example, I want to insert a door at 6 inches from a wall. I click the door from the tool palette, leave a tracking point at the wall corner, move the cursor in the right direction and type 6 follow by enter. The door is insert randomly in the drawing. It was working perfectly in previous release.
Actually I had to insert the door anywhere in the drawing and moving it at the right place and rotate it if required, it is very tedious.
I've got the very basics down on autocad 2012 but was just wondering if you can use the polar command while using snap from, like for example if i want to draw a circle 180mm from another point at 45deg (@180<45)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a way to change the toggle polar On/Off from F10 to F6. I already did it with the "delete" and the "Ortho" keys but i can't find the macro for the toggle polar on/off.
Has you can see on the picture for Delete it's ^C^C erase;
For ortho it's ^O
Maybe for Polar it's ^P but i could validate with you before i do any changes. (;
I have drawn a bar counter in 3d which has a top rectangular shape with curved corners. The front of the bar has 100mm wide wooden fascia panels and they need to follow the line of the bar. I am using the Polar Array function which works great except I cant seem to get the panels to follow the curves/arcs around the corners, but they sit neatly on all the straight edges of the bar. So in other words the panels are straight and lined up on the straight parts of the bar but the panels stay at 90 degrees instead of following the curved areas of the bar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI put the three holes in the outer ears/lugs with a Polar Array and want to change their diameter to make them smaller. If try to use Delete Faces to remove the holes it drastically effects one of the other lugs.
Is there a better way to edit holes in an array and is there a way to make arrays non-associative after the fact of creating them? The dwg is saved in 2007 but created with 2013
I drew the polar arrayed rectangle as attached and tried to trim the inside lines to create an octagon but i cant trim the object.
However, if i try the same thing without polar arraying ( i.e just by drawing the two rectangles similarly) it works. I would like to know what might be causing this.
I use autocad 2011 LT and I have some problem with polar stretching!I have to get from A(see picture) to B but C is always happening! I want to put in an angle in te propertieswindow so that I become B. the angle is variable but the middle stays the same length!

View 8 Replies View RelatedPolar Stretch and Linear Stretch work properly independently, but when their "grip points" are overlayed and I'm trying to stretch the right side and stretch and rotate the bottom side of the drawing - Polar Stretch is screwing up.
The idea is to NOT to use them separately, but with one stroke having "grip points" overlayed all the time.
I cannot find the drop down for Polar array. I just have the 4 squares for array when I click on it I can request polar as the array type but it gives me a quirky menu with grips and does not allow me to set fill angles and number of pieces. I had issues loading this program, Map3D 2013 and was wondering if it was skipped in the installation, The circular pattern button is not on list of commands but does show in the documentation provided.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is an oven design in 3D. But I would do it brick by brick, if feasible. Below the picture. Some considerations: I tried to do using Autocad 2012 using the Polar Array new feature, but I can not close the oven on top.

I would love for my 2011 and 2013 to work the same as my 2008 does.
In 2008, when I grab a grip and stretch it with either ortho or polar turned on, I get a little tooltip beside the crosshairs. All it says is the distance and the angle, and whether it is Ortho or Polar. For example, if I stretch to the left with ortho on, it may say
Ortho: 16.55 < 180°
Or if I stretch up and to the right with Polar on, it will say
Polar: 16.55 < 45°
I really, really really want this back! This is not dynamic input, I hate all that ridiculous clutter around my crosshairs. But this little info box is absolutely invaluable!
I have checked the Tooltip setting (on in all versions), And I've been playing with all the Dynamic Input settings, but I can't get it to work. The odd part is that 2011 was working until about a week ago. I'm not sure if 2013 was or not.
I am trying to put a polar stretch on the block uploaded, but it doesn't seems to work (maybe because of my constraint? ). If something major is wrong with it, is there another way I can make the same drawing proportional when i rotate it and stretch it ? Also, after that I have to use it for vlisp.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to be able to have my outreach arm stretch horizontally and on angles of 5 / 10 / 15 degrees from the pole. I have been able to make the polar stretch for this and it works fine though what i am trying to do is have the luminaire height also stretch and move when the size of the outreach changes (i can make the linear dimension work the way i want though not the luminaire parameter) as when you add the paremter into the stretch action is only moves the top and leaves the bottom at the same location which is not giving me the correct height.
The block itself is alot more complicated then this I have stripped most of the parameters out to make it less confusing but the end result would allow the user to input the outreach angle, outreach length and luminaire height. I have attached drawing for your reference.
I've made this block . when i rotate the vertical line I need to add lines every 15° as you see in the image, i've seen that polar array is not possible in the dynamic blocks.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just started my CAD classes. I have been doing basic 2d drawing and just learning the commands etc.
My question concerns polar coordinates. I know how they work, but are you expected to be able to get polar coordinates off lets say a hard copy drawing with no annotations.
My homework so far has always had the length of the lines depicted on the drawing but not the angles. So if I was required to replicate a drawing that had no annotation is there any way other than guessing or whipping out my protractor.
This is just a nagging thought as I strive to understand CAD.
how do one wants to do a polar increment angle to make a degree in a autocad drawing. I want to design a truss but at the angle of the truss , how to make an angle between the top chord and lower chord. which icon i should click on ?
