View 9 RepliesI am trying to do a polar array of a small circle within a large circle. I chose the center point of the large circle as the center point of the array, but for some reason the smaller circles are not in perfect array as some one them slightly overlap the larger circle. Is there some way to calibrate it correctly?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a bar counter in 3d which has a top rectangular shape with curved corners. The front of the bar has 100mm wide wooden fascia panels and they need to follow the line of the bar. I am using the Polar Array function which works great except I cant seem to get the panels to follow the curves/arcs around the corners, but they sit neatly on all the straight edges of the bar. So in other words the panels are straight and lined up on the straight parts of the bar but the panels stay at 90 degrees instead of following the curved areas of the bar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI put the three holes in the outer ears/lugs with a Polar Array and want to change their diameter to make them smaller. If try to use Delete Faces to remove the holes it drastically effects one of the other lugs.
Is there a better way to edit holes in an array and is there a way to make arrays non-associative after the fact of creating them? The dwg is saved in 2007 but created with 2013
sequence for creating a Polar Array? I have no problem with Rectangular Array but for some reason I have no success with Polar. include what it should say in the command line in the sequence. I am looking to place 22 .1" circles around a 1.5" circle. I am using v2000 if it matters, however I can use v2007 if need be.

I just have the 4 squares for array when I click on it I can request polar as the array type but it gives me a quirky menu with grips and does not allow me to set fill angles and number of pieces. I had issues loading this program, Map3D 2013 and was wondering if it was skipped in the installation, The circular pattern button is not on list of commands but does show in the documentation provided.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to do a polar stretch and array for rigid insulation. RIGID2.dwg is my best option. but as you can see in the jpg, the first line should have arrayed already, because the gap is over 2". i tried to follow the instruction someone used for the clothes hangers URL.... and it resulted in RIGID.dwg, with the lines rotating off the main line.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is an oven design in 3D. But I would do it brick by brick, if feasible. Below the picture. Some considerations: I tried to do using Autocad 2012 using the Polar Array new feature, but I can not close the oven on top.

I've made this block . when i rotate the vertical line I need to add lines every 15° as you see in the image, i've seen that polar array is not possible in the dynamic blocks.

If it were a rectagular dining table of any size how do I array the dining chairs around the table's shape. Alternatively what if I had a large square table and wanted to array 12 chairs with 3 chairs on on each side of the table ????? I get polar arrays around a circle or polygon but do not understand the rectangle concept ???

View 7 Replies View Relatedis there a way to create an associative array of posts so I only have to edit one part to have the entire array change? that is, I want to have global values for the dimensions in the picture below: post diametervertical width between post centreshorizontal width between post columns (again, centre to centre)vertical shift of each column w.r.t. previous one I've used the Rectangular Pattern tool to create a repetition of my posts, but I want to shift each column of posts up slightly with respect to the one before as in the attached picture:
It seems that if you want to repeat along non-perpendicular axes like this, Inventor fails if there are too many repeats. I came across this when searching the site:
[URL]
I can verify that this is my exact problem but can add that in my example, 4 repeats on the almost horizontal axis and 3 on the vertical work fine. However, 3 almost horizontal axis repeats by 4 vertical axis repeats will only work if I choose the vertical axis as Direction 2. (Is this a bug or am I trying to use the Rectangular Pattern Tool incorrectly?)
The repeat unit can be simplified to 1 circle with 2 construction lines along the repeat Direction instead of the 2x2 circles shown here but the problem persists. Also
I was trying to figure out how to edit an array to either remove all the array objects outside of a shape or to fill in a shape with objects.
For example, I created a rectangular array of dots and want to remove the dots such that it makes a circle (or triangle if that's possible?). There are reasons that I can't use the polar array to make the circle because I need certain parameters that really I can't replicate. Also, selecting each point is too tedious and really not efficient (though it could be done eventually, but I don't want to waste a ton of time).
Looking for a method of selecting multiple blocks that have been arrayed within a drawing. I have tired with filter and qselect however there is no way to filter out blocks by name contained within an aray. Would be great if there was a .lsp routine or arx file that could deal with this.

I have sometimes an array with 10x45=450 assemblies. Because this slows down my computer dramaticly I use LOD to suppress parts within the assembly. The problem is that I have to expand every single assembly in the array, select all of them and than choose the LOD I want. This takes me a lot of time. Is there a way I can select all assemblies within an array with one (or two) clicks?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to select things on an angle? The default selection tool is a rectangular shape, I need something linear that I can draw. Like draw a line through several elements and everything that line touches it selects.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSuppose I have an object filled with a linear gradient. This object is the only selected. I just would like to change the angle of the gradient to 25 degrees. So I think I could do:
var doc = app.activeDocument
alert(doc.selection[0].fillColor.angle) // the result is the exact angle of the gradient fill of the selected object. Suppose 12 degrees.
//now the try to change:
doc.selection[0].fillColor.angle = 25.0
No errors are found by the Extended Script Toolkit..BUT...it does not change anything. As Illustrator reference manual does not say this property is read only, I think I could write.
How does one get the array window in 2012 to open with the array command like it does in 2007
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the PATH array feature on 2013 to array stairs, and I can't get the array to be 100% accurate. It seems like CAD rounds the decimal to the nearest 3/4" which could be causing the problem.
I set my run to 10.5" and rise to 7.25", array along the angle of the stringer, and there's always a small overlap on the stairs. The "distance between" should be 1'-209/256" and CAD rounds it to 1'-3/4" which is where I believe the error is. Is there any way to fix this or array this correctly? Otherwise...back to the COPY method I suppose.
When I use the bucket tool to fill in an area, how can I select a color? It just uses black by default and I can't find a way to change this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I have ensured that Object Selection by Path Only is unchecked in the selection and anchor display prefs. However, I still can't select an object by fill (clicking within the object). I have to go to the object edge and select the path.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a script that will select text Frames, but I have come into a situation where I need to exclude any text frames that do not have a fill color. I do not see a filled Boolean property for character attributes or text Frames.
This is what I used to select all text on all visible and unlocked layers. I dont see a way to exclude textframes that have no fillcolor.
if (app.documents.length > 0 ) {
var doc = app.activeDocument;
var numTextFrames = 0;
for ( i = 0; i < doc.textFrames.length; i++ ) {
try {
textArtRange = doc.textFrames[i];
textArtRange.selected = true;
} catch (e) {} } }
i'm basically making a shape with the pen tool, then i click the paint bucket, then the shape disappears. i've also done this with the rectangle tool and the exact same thing happens.
usually, it will work when i frst open the document, but after i start making new layers/text then i try to do this, the shape i make disappears.
how i can keep the shape so i can select the paint bucket tool?
I am wondering if there is a way to use the "select same fill color" and/or "stroke color" for just a group of objects in a document as opposed to document-wide.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf i want select objects that same fill color in document, I can use 'select - same - Fill color' function in Illustrator.
It's so fast. below 1 second.
But, If i want make it in Javascript, I can't do it like fast.
for(i=0; i<activeDocument.pathItems.length; i++){...}
If document have 10,000 objects, above script can't finish in even 60 seconds.
How Illustrator can traversal fast?
Is there something other way?
Im drawing in isometric view and want to change the default drawing angle from 30 degrees to another angle.
