Dec 10, 2012Using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, now installing Service Pack 1 (kept crashing, this time it's working though), and I'm trying to find the area of a pathway that I've drawn in 2D with standard lines. Using the area tool, I want to find the area of the path, but it arcs around a 180 degree corner. I tried getting a rough estimate of the area by clicking at several points along each of the arcs, but after clicking a point where the arc joins the straight line of the straight section of the path, it literally won't let me click the next point. I can, however, specify the next point as long as it's nowher near the arc. Same goes for the polyline tool.
Just got an error code for the Service Pack installation, too. "A problem prevented the service pack from being installed, contact your administrator. Error 1603"
AutoCAD 2013 :: Dynamic Input Interrupts Object Snap?
May 21, 2013I am having this problem for the first time with my most recent install of 2014 on a Windows 8 computer. When copying a line or any other object along another line as a base, when I type the distance that I want to copy the object, it deselcts the autosnap vector that I had specified. For example, now when I copy an object along a line at various intervals, I have to move my mouse after entering the distance each time to enable the object snap to reselect the direction I want to copy it (along a line that should stay selected through the object snap: nearest).
Is there some object snap or dynamic input setting that I need to change?

Sep 11, 2013I used object snap tracking for years.Since I upgraded to AutoCad 2014 why does object snap tracking only work with Dynamic input turned on?
Personally I do not like to work with Dynamic imput on, when I use object snap tracking with out DI turned on it doen't work right. Past versions worked fine. What do I do to get this back?

Dec 19, 2013I've tried to figure out the pattern of how the command works for inputting partial customization menu toolbar names but I'm unsuccessful.
You should be able to show and hide partial customization menu toolbars with the -toolbar command because it can hide all toolbars including my partial customization menu toolbars currently shown. I've tried the toolbar menu alias (defined in the CUI command) and the name (refer to this link to the same image embedded below) and none work.

Dec 4, 2012Prior to the latest drawing editor crash, the display in my LAYERS toolbar would always display the layer of any single object that I would select without a command being active. After recovering, I find that this feature no longer operates.

3ds Max :: How To Snap One Object To Other With Vertex Snap
Apr 18, 2011I'm trying to snap one object to the other with vert snap.
It's trying to snap from the center of my object rather then the vert I am hovering over. In the Snap settings I have only "vertex" checked so it should snap to whatever vertex I hover over but no...This keeps up I'm going back to 2008 when all this worked fine.

Apparently, Autodesk feels so strongly that everyone should be working off their ribbon menus that they turn them on every time the drawing editor is started. We don't, nor are we likely to, use ribbons.

Aug 28, 2013I have a custom toolbar that I've used for years in an olderversion of CAD. Now I'm in 2012 and loaded my custom toolbar in from my previous CUI. Naturally it dropped in all question marks even though I have all paths in the support file added. I even copied all my bitmaps to autodesk's default bitmap location. Neither work.
So after that I went into the CUI and manually selected the bitmap image for "small image" and "large image". It shows in the CUI now, but no luck on the main board. (also, not that this matters, must be a glitch but it won't even show in the CUI until i manually select another bitmap and reselect my origional desired image)
So then I tried taking the whole path and copying it into the CUI manually but it goes right back to defaulting to (MYIMAGENAME.BMP) without keeping the extension. My other custom toolbars loaded with all the pictures but this one just refuses to cooperate.

Photoshop :: Display Bug With The Menu Toolbar Icons...
Jan 14, 2009I'm having a display bug with the menu toolbar icons in Photoshop CS4 Extended. The icons don't show when mouse hovers over them and they don't show at all for the drop down menus. Can this be fixed?
I'm on WinXP, Athlon 64 4000+, 3GB ram, GeForce 6800 GT video card [driver 181.20]. I'm not sure if this is a video driver bug or CS4 bug.
AutoCAD LT :: Object Snap To Xref Intersection
Oct 10, 2009I get inconsistent results when I try to use the object snap to a point such as an intersection in an xref. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Even the "nearest" doesn't seem to recognize the xref consistently. Is there a way to insure that the point is recognized?

Feb 13, 2013How to use keyboard shortcut to allow for a temporary override of my "Nearest" OSNAP. I often find myself pulling leaders from splines and/or circles and need the "Nearest" OSNAP active.
I was in CUI and saw the temp override shortcut key was setup but inactive as it has no ties to any keys. I also saw others setup with shortcuts keys and decided to give them a demo. While in a line command (for example) i held 'SHIFT + C' to trigger the temp override of "Center." It didn't seem to work. Dynamic input popped up as if i was entering "C."
I want 'SHIFT + N' to be temp override for "Nearest" OSNAP.As a side note, i was able to set up ACAD to zoom extents and close dwg simultaneously with 'CTRL + W' without any hiccups.

Aug 16, 2011When using object snap feature, if a particular point has multiple roles, by which I mean it could be {endpoint, node point, circle, intersection, etc.} at the same time, is there a way to toggle the snap point selection?

Jan 4, 2012I no longer seem to be able to snap to the nodes of block attributes.
My osnap settings are set to snap to nodes. I wonder whether it's a variable that on my previous version of AutoCAD was set to one thing and the new version defaults to another.

Feb 18, 2009I love the feature of Object Snap Tracking but for some reason or another it has stopped working. I normally use F11 to turn it on or go through the drafting settings menu to turn it on. The Object Snap Tracking box is checked and should work, but it doesn't. Is there a magic variable that needs to be set?

Sep 7, 2011Using AutoCAD from another drafting program and trying to determine if AutoCAD has a feature I have become used to. The program I am using is Vectorworks and they have these items called loci. They are basically just snap points that do not print and are not actually geometry. They are great though for aligning items and referencing points. Is there a similar item in autocad?

Users will connect some polyline or lines to the blocks inserted. My task is that blocks must have snap points only on their center so that the polylines must be connected to the block center point not to other points such that midpoints, end points of the edges.
I wonder if there is a way to override snap points of the blocks while other entities' snap points do not change.

Jan 9, 2013We use ordinate dimensions for all holes in parts. Unfortunately there seems to be features frequently left out of ordinate dimension mode. For instance, by default Inventor uses center and quadrant object snaps. Unlike in normal dimension mode, there is no right click option for disabling quadrant snaps. This is a constant annoyance, especially when dimensioning a print with a lot of holes. Is there any other way or hidden setting to disable the quadrant snap? In addition, add member is missing from the new "marking menu" completely so we have to enable the old right click menu to get it back. Are we the only ones using ordinate dimensions?
