How can I bend a Living Hinge at 90deg angles for assembly? Also, is there any tool in either autocad or SW that I can get that final dimension with tolerances? My concern is the hinge might break after printing!

I am self taught so I don't know all the commands but I understand the concept from using Maya / 3Ds Max in the past.
Also why do I see the diagonal lines at the end of the 90 degree?

I want to make this part that bend 15 degree at 800 mm from bottom. In my attempt.
First, I bend it 15 degree.
And, make flange from Face and upper flange then I stuck with error.
What would be the best way to control the length of this piano hinge in an assembly? I need it to change in length when the door size changes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI developed a handrail extension that turns down and terminates on top of the stringer and I'm having some trouble controlling the "bend" to get a smooth arc for all angles. Is there away of aligning or constrining the arc in the sweep path to achieve this?

Under the modify tab in a part file, I can drop down and click "bend part." We have a bunch of frames made out of stock tubing that are welded together, then bent as a whole. Is there a way to bend at the assembly? I want the model to represent the production process. I don't want to have to bend each tube alone, then reassemble. That would double my parts/part numbers.

I'm struggling with the bend portion that I lined in. If my drawing doesn't make sense, that piece is 5" long, the bend is 5/8", and it's a cylinder. I'm sure it's really easy but I'm blanking. I've tried the bend tool to no avail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing from a client, which has all the features on a coordinate system, But the drawing is rotated for some reason. Even after rotating the drawing the coordinates are the same as it was prior to rotation. I believe there may be some variables that has been changed for this. If a line is drawn A@100<0 it is drawn vertical instead of horizontal and like wise @100<90 is drawn horizontal instead of vertical.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSay you have a dynamic block of a hinge, and you want to stretch it to the hight of a door. The dynamically blocked hinges have a base point, and a grip point. I place the base point at the bottom of the door, and stretch from the grip point to the top of the door, (so that there is a hinge on both the top & bottom of the door).
What i want, is for the array tool to automatically place another hinge in the center of the stretch, but only after the top hinge has stretched to/greater than 1000mm. I want this newly added hinge to stay in the center of my two hinges already in place (whenever the hinges are stretched higher or lower, the middle hinge moves to the center), and NOT add anymore hinges, 3 maximum.
Why is my corridor adding a hinge? [Atleast I think that is the problem]
I am trying to create a berm that is 8' wide. For my assembly I used 4' wide basiclanes and daylightgeneral (with 3:1 slope in all parameters) on left and right side.
In the top image I have circled two of the areas in which the hinge line is shown. And in the bottom right the cross section of one side of the berm is shown. As you can see on the inside (left) there is two feet sloped at approximately -1% before it daylights to the surface at 3:1
Why isn't the left side matching the right?
I am assembling a cupboard using a hinge and a door. I can make the hinge swivel quite nicely in its own assembly file. When I add the hinge and the door to the cupboard assembly I cannot get the door to swivel with the hinge. In fact I can not get the hinge to swivel once I place it on the cupboard frame member.

I can't apply an angle constraint when using it as a flexible assembly either - and the flexible assembly keeps throwing an error to do with the translational constraints.

Y and Z are fine, I can rotate a full 360°, but the X axis "bottoms out" if I try to rotate the view more than 180°. Is there something toggled that's causing this?

As the radius of the circular alignment (R) is calculated from the “degree of curvature” (attached) then I couldn’t figure out how to select a particular value for the “degree of curvature” (R=1718.8/Da) and then to label the horizontal alignment with it.
I am trying to create an expression so that I can put the Dc into my alignment curve label. I am using (5729.58/Radius) for the expression and using Double for the format which comes out fine in decimal form as in a curve with a 200' R comes out to be 28.6479º, the problem is that I need it to come out as Angular DMS... when I switch the format to angle it comes back as 1641º24'14".
