Illustrator :: Bend Paths To Make 90 Degree Curve Point
Mar 9, 2013Can I bend these paths making a 90 degrees curve pointing right so that the green line forms the inner curve with a smaller radius than the red line?

I am self taught so I don't know all the commands but I understand the concept from using Maya / 3Ds Max in the past.
Also why do I see the diagonal lines at the end of the 90 degree?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to crate an anchor point on an intersection of two paths. Not by 'joining paths' (as that joins them from the ends); I just want to join two paths in such a way that an anchor point is crated at the point where they intersect. That's how it works in Flash, but I can't figure it out in AI. I created an image to clarify what I'm trying to achieve.

View 15 Replies View RelatedHow to label the curve with its degree of curvature (Da)?
Degree of curvature (Da) can be calculated based on two different ways
Arc definition (considering 30 meters arc length):
Da=1719.74/R
Chord definition (considering 30 meters chord length):
Da=ASIN(50/Radius)*2
The issue here is that there is not built in option to label the curve with its degree of curvature.

I have a curved path I imported into Illustrator, and I'd like to draw a line perpendicular to the curve at a particular point. I've searched google and this forum, but can't find any description of how to do it. Corel Draw has a button that lets you do this, so I'm hoping something similar exists in Illustrator...
i'm currently just calculating the angle at the point I want using the derivative, finding the angle, and then adding 90 degrees to it. But I need the line to be placed at a particular point, and the X/Y properties of the line are based on the ruler which isn't even in the center of the document (I want to position it relative to the artboard). As in, I just want to set the position of one endpoint of the line...
I have a small company doing designs onto mugs, steins, pints, etc. I recently added the ability to do custom photo designs, so now I'm trying to perfect the image curvature for my pint glasses and coming up against a problem.
So - with a pint glass, in order to put a design on it you actually have to curve the image. I'm following this tutorial here - [URL] where he shows how to use GIMP to curve a photo to insert into a tumbler.
I am doing the same process except my dimensions/numbers are different. I need to be able to create the appropriate .points file for my pint glasses but if I use the one he created, my image will be off since the pints don't have the same dimensions as the tumbler he did the tutorial for.
SO - all this to say - how the heck do I calculate what values to put in the points file? For example, on this particular project I need to make an image to be curved up 5/8" on the bottom and 3/4" on the top. He used .25" and .3125" so if I use his file, my designs won't be right.
How can I bend or curve a background and object like in this picture?.
(Not spiral bend, 3D shape or whatsoever but like in the picture below)

Most of the bend and curve tutorial not really showing the result that I wanted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to make some paths - straight lines, really - in an Illustrator file that will be "paper white" when printed. Working in CMYK mode. In other words, when printed, there will be no dots at all in those spaces. Can I do this by setting the fill to none and the stroke to white? Or do I need to do something else to signify "this space is empty"?

View 9 Replies View Related.... so as to be able to apply a fill over the whole object??
This might sound more obvious than it actually is in this case so i'll explain. My partners artwork contains a lot of linework and unfortunately, i can't get the degree of accuracy i need with a continous path. Therefore, the problem i have is joining lots of paths (some of which have endpoints joining midway through other paths) to make a single object with the strokes preserved, so i can apply a fill to the overall object or to individual sections.
I've tried unite, join and all the other commands that i'm aware of but all give undesired effects. I've tried using a compund path but all that does is make them act as one but still doesn't do what i need with regards to filling the object.
A simplified example of what i need to achieve is this...... create a square using 4 seperate paths and then a cross through the middle using more seperate paths to create a 4 box square. I need to be able to make this one object so i can fill each individual square a different colour if need be?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a repeat pattern tile (using CS5 on Windows 7), but when I crop the pattern, the expanded paths underneath become visible as on the flowers.This is what I did after creating the artwork:
Used the rectangle tool to make a box with fill/stroke directly on top of the artboard.. Select all > Expand (selecting stroke only, not fill) Deselect the cropping box and grouped the remaining objects. Reselected the cropping box and grouped all objects Pathfinder > Crop I'm guessing it may have something to do with the fact I used a gradient on the flowers but how to resolve it.
I have a short macro to add the compliment angle to all the bend angles on an Inventor 2014 drawing. I want it to always show one decimal point on the compliment angle, but if that would be '0' then it doesn't show it. I.e. in the attached picture I want it to be 58.0 (122.0) DOWN.

I want to join two paths to create a shape that I can fill but at the same time retain one of the original paths (the red one in the image below). I can copy the path I want to retain but surely there is a more elegant solution. See below for for an illustration:
View 6 Replies View RelatedBasically I have a centerline alignment for a roadway and another alignment for a retaining wall. They both have the same bearings and a common horizontal bend point, though the wall tapers off in another direction at the end. The issue I'm having is at the common horizontal bend point, when I label my retaining wall bend point and reference the centerline I get a different centerline station than what I should be getting. It appears that when Civil3D calculates the reference station, it uses the line segment after the bend point instead of the line segment before.
Is this dependent on a C3D setting and is it possible to change this?
