GIMP :: Making Bending Metal Pipe
Jan 17, 2012The way I've seen is making a rectangle and filling w a gradient and copy/paste and move it over. My prob is when I rotate the image to make the bend and copy its copying the rotated image.

Jul 19, 2011I received a drawing from a client, which has all the features on a coordinate system, But the drawing is rotated for some reason. Even after rotating the drawing the coordinates are the same as it was prior to rotation. I believe there may be some variables that has been changed for this. If a line is drawn A@100<0 it is drawn vertical instead of horizontal and like wise @100<90 is drawn horizontal instead of vertical.

Nov 11, 2012Im trying to teach myself to draw pipe spools but am kinda overwhelmed by the options (MET and lisp addons etc.)
Im using auto cad 2013 and inventor 2013. Can pipe spools be easily drawn in 2d and 3d in these programs or do i need a 3rd party add on?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Network Not Drawing Pipes
Jun 18, 2013I have a sanitary pipe network as well as a storm network. Now I need to extend the sanitary network one extra section. I go to edit the network, and choose the correct parts for structure and pipe from my catalog.
When I choose the draw; pipe only, structure only, pipes and structures it highlights like normal, and in the 'command' box it says to choose an insertion point. When I click an insertion point (either to an existing structure or a new place on the screen) the draw button that was highlighted becomes unclicked and nothing gets drawn. However this is only an issue when pipes only, or pipes and structures is picked. When I choose structures only It works fine.

Dec 22, 2013I downloaded the C3D 2014, and trying it. When i discovered the new function, i try to draw a pressure pipe network.
After i was take the design, there is no any object in the model space. Nothing.
There are a full list of pipes and structures in the tool space tree menü. When i just click the network name and select it, i get all of information about the planned network but i can't see any object, lines or other in the model space. All layout viewable, What is the problem with it?

Aug 3, 2012I am having an issue seeing a 2line pipe drawn in MEP and viewing the drawing in AutoCAD vanilla. I can view the 2line pipe in it's original dwg file, but when I xref it into the base drawing the 2line pipe shows up as a 1line pipe in AutoCAD vanilla. I am using AutoCAD MEP AS AutoCAD which has all the enablers.

Dec 21, 2010When creating my plan set, I need to data reference pipe networks into other drawings than that in which they were designed to show crossings in profile views or to separate out profiles into managable drawings. When I do this, if I have swapped a type-13 inlet for a 10' type R inlet or something during design, the data referenced pipe network will replace the 10' type R with a default inlet. Also if I have swapped a proposed 30" pipe for an existing 30" that have different styles, the data referenced pipe network will revert back to the proposed 30" pipe. how to make a data referenced pipe network reflect what is currently in the design drawing?

Sep 12, 2012For those who are familiar with the Ultra-Pipe Program, when I open a drawing from Ultra-Pipethe title layer is updated by the kbupdate.lsp file and the drawing decription (title Layer) is updated with the Circuit ID and TML range. Referencing the attached pdf, you can see that this would be misleading in some cases. I need the description in the title block to be updated with the drawing name instead.
We have changed the default layer colors before in the kbupdate.lsp so I know it's not impossible. I am 99% sure that the changes needed for the problem above would be in the same file.

Jan 8, 2014One of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

AutoCad :: Pipe Cutting Template - How To Unwrap Pipe Into Flat Section
Dec 27, 2003I have these two pipes, one is 4" diameter (running horizontally) and the other is 6" diameter running at a 30degree from horizontal angle. eventually the two hit, and at that intersection I need to make the 4" pipe join to the 6"' pipe, which then continues on its merry way farther down the structure. So I can extrude the two pipes, and I can even make a union and then remove the excess of the 6" pipe, because what I am really looking for is: a cutting diagram for the joint where the remaining 4" pipe hits the 6" section. A cutting diagram for the short piece of a Y joint.
I can make this image appear on my screen, but I am then stumped as to how to unwrap the pipe into a flat section so that I can see the curvature of the cuts required in planar view, for the real pipe that I have on my shop floor.

Jun 26, 2013WHAT I A TRYING TO DO: is bend a grid/mesh pattern of material to a certain radii and distance. In the attached DWG I have used either Extruded or Sweep to create the existing (latitudal?) grid but am not doing well creating the perpindicular grid at the arc drawn below the existing (lat.) grid.
I believe the dwg is a good representation of what I am attempting to do, and I am trying getting to my end result, whether it means using what i've begun or starting over, and using the "Best Practices" to achieve such.

Dec 3, 2013We have an issue where we are trying to bend a 1mm sheet with a 24mm radius. The one side must come out 105mm wide and the flange must be 50 mm wide. inventor gives a flat pattern width of 143.4
If we bend using a brake press and a 24mm tube blade then it wont come out the right size. its like the flat pattern isn't big enough. we get the 50 mm flange but whats left over is 99 and not 105. How do we deal with something like this?
