I am using a Pipe Network for all my drainage culverts on a large industrial site. I have created all my pipes from "Create Pipes from Object", which were all feature lines. While generating the pipes, I told it to use the object as my pipe invert.
I have set up my pipe rules (i.e. minimum/maximum slope and cover) to what I want. Also when creating my pipes I assigned my design (top of sub grade) surface to them. But I noticed that it's calculating my pipe cover from the middle of my pipes.
My pipes all have the right wall thickness, etc...set in the style. Is there a setting I'm missing telling the pipe to calculate it from the top of the pipe...instead of the middle of the pipe?
I am working on sanitary pipe network, in which I want set Pipe Rule Set as
Min Cover = 0.3 &
If Road Gradient <= 0.6 ,Pipe Slope = 0.6
Road Gradient >0.6 , Pipe Slope = Road Gradient
Pipe Rule (Cover and Slope Rule) for the same.

I know it can be done usign Pipe networks and feature lines and a massive waste of time.. But I just want ot offset my FG to show a line constant offset. Can this be done? If so how?

I'm attempting to model a gas network using the pipe tools (Civil 3D 2011). The problems I'm having:
1) The pipes are coming in at all depths (mostly too deep), rather than at the constant 3' cover I would like.
2) Pipes all have zero slope and "stairstep" at null structures, instead of sloping with the surface.
My pipe rule set is:
Cover only, min/max 3'
Match pipe-to-pipe, inv 0'
I tried adding a slope rule, it dropped pipes lower.
For structure rules, I have tried both 0' drop across structure, and no rules (hoping pipe match would take over). All are null structures.
I do have the surface referenced, and it is being recognized (structure rims insert at grade).
Simple program that will adjust invert elevations of a pipe based on the cover depth.
I have a existing uitility maps that only label the the cover depths. I have to show these utility crossings in my profile views. I have different rules set up for various depths when laying out my crossing pipes in plan, but I need the ability to to edit the various cover depths more quickly. I am using Civil 3d 2012 only.
i need to label the same pipe in 2 different profiles

We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created pipe network for my storm drain project. I have located all the structures (manhole) to all angle point of my alignment as required. Also I "insert" manhole every 400' per local code requirements using the command "network layout tools; structures only. My problem is I couldn't find the tools how to trim the pipe that pass through the manhole. Please see attached pdf file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

I created this label for my pipe crossing. I want to be able to start the vertical line at the invert, and be able to move the text up and down and have the line adjust.
Currently my dragged state has the arrow head size as 0 and visibility as false, since it starts the leader at the centerline of the pipe. But without using the leader, I cannot adjust the vertical line dynamically.
I need to add label in a pressure pipe in the profile view.
How can I do it?
Selecting a pipe and using add label doesn't work, it works in plan but not in profile.
How do I get Civil 3D to put pipe elevation labels at even stations?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wanting to know it it is possible to get a block component out of a pipe label with the API to project onto a profileview.
The reason a want this is that to label lot connections in the form of a wye connection I typical use a pipe label with a stick block at 45 degress to represent the connection then explode it and use project to profile view command so the lot connection applies there as well. Just wanting to do it faster thru using code if it can be done.

Settings > Pipe Network > Right Click > Edit Feature Settings > Default Profile Label Placement, gets you to this point:
Does the highlighted line only apply at the time that the label is placed? I have multiple sewers to label and I want to each set of labels at a different elevation. Changing this default will have NO effect on existing labels?
I have a pipe network created that is shown in multiple drawings. I created labels for the structures showing Rims and Inverts. How to put the Rim info on a different layer than the Invert info? Right now the label has 3 different components...I feel like there has to be a way to put each component on different layers...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to make a structure label that defines the "PIPE FALL" for each incoming pipe. By "PIPE FALL", I mean the elevation difference between the bottom of the structure and the incoming pipe invert elevation.
Actually, I thought it was going to be pretty simple, just by doing:
PIPE FALL = INCOMING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION - OUTGOING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION <CONNECTED PIPE OPPOSITE STRUCTURE NAME>
or
PIPE FALL = INCOMING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION - SUMP ELEVATION <CONNECTED PIPE OPPOSITE STRUCTURE NAME>
I just need to define the elevation difference between the bottom of the structure and the incoming pipe invert elevation.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to label pipe networks in my section views. i hit the 'entire network section' option and it just labels 1 pipe in 1 section. i would think it would label the 1 pipe in every section or every pipe in 1 section. is this how it's supposed to work? is there a workaround?

I would like to know if it is possible to display the pipe inlet/outlet elevation in my structure label. It seems like it is not possible. It is possible to use the inlet/outlet elevation of the pipe in my pipe label however I would like to display it in my structure.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWater main pipe network profile labels for structures do not attach to the structure properly in C3D 2014 (this same label style works fine in all previous versions of the software, through the 2013 release). The labels come into the drawing at a northing of 0 rather than attaching to the structure itself. However, if you grip edit and reset the labels, they reset to their correct attachment point. Additionally, if you attempt to grip edit the profile labels with Ortho mode on, it moves the label back to a northing of 0. I've created a new block for the structure, but that does not resolve the issue.
I've included a link to a Chronicle video that demonstrates the label behavior. [URL] .......
Am I limited to the fields that appear on the label for a pipe network data band, or can I add my own customized expressions?
Using Building Design Suite Ultimate 2014
The labels normal anchor point is the bottom outside diameter of the pipe, but when dragged the anchor snaps back to the cl of the pipe.
The only workaround I was able to come up with is a "static" leader made up of two lines and an arrowhead block, which you can only slide up or down the pipe with the desired appearance but can't stretch.
The attached image shows the Civil 3D pipe label above and the desirable text/leader legacy version below.
how to update the information? I revised the pipe alignment but the profile did not update the station. WHat steps do I need to perform?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem I can't figure out. I have a Pipe Style defined that is set to draw my pipes as double lines in plan using the inside pipe diameter. The problem is that there are a few sizes such as 21" & 30" that will not draw/display the double lines to the correct inside pipe dimension.
It will draw a 27" pipe as 10" & a 30" pipe as 12", but all other pipe sizes are drawn crorectly. I have looked at these in part builder & have also rebuilt my parts list.
What would cause certain pipe diameter not be drawn at the correct size it the style is defined correctly?

I have a 18' x 10' special structure where I'd like to be able to connect the pipes as shown to the structure but I'm not aware of any way to force the Connection point of the pipe to the desired location along the structure.
Normal behavior is to connect all pipes to the same insertion point or center of structure.how to go about maintaining pipe connection orientation to reflect the design requirements?
Just a question about pressure pipe networks in 2013. Is there concrete pressure pipes in the part family, including concrete bends?
