AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Part Family Validation Error
Mar 16, 2011I am getting the following error when trying to validate my part.
ERROR: Sample Expanded Table Row not fully expanded (calc error)
My part works fine as far as I can tell. when I change dimintions it changes to what it is supposed to. I don't know where to start to isolate what is causing this error.
Revit :: How To Create Adaptive Family (concrete Bleacher / Bench) That Mitres To Its Adjoining Instances
Dec 23, 2011I'm trying to create an adaptive family (a concrete bleacher/bench) that mitres to its adjoining instances when placed in a project (see attached images).
The family is not acting as I intend it to when loaded into the project (bottom right image). I've created six adaptive points which are intended to correspond to refeence points in the project.
I think the problem has to do with the faces of the extrusion, they don't seem to be able to align to an angled reference plane. How the extrusion can expand/contract in a linear fashion and have ends that mitre adaptively?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Rectangular Pipe Part Builder
Jun 19, 2012Is it possible to move the autolayout data of this existing rectangular pipe (see attached). I want my pipe to attach at the top or bottom rather than the middle. I tried creating one from scratch but don't really know what im doing yet and can't seem to get it to validate.I've seen a bunch on creating structures, but not much on pipes.

May 10, 2013I have a problem I can't figure out. I have a Pipe Style defined that is set to draw my pipes as double lines in plan using the inside pipe diameter. The problem is that there are a few sizes such as 21" & 30" that will not draw/display the double lines to the correct inside pipe dimension.
It will draw a 27" pipe as 10" & a 30" pipe as 12", but all other pipe sizes are drawn crorectly. I have looked at these in part builder & have also rebuilt my parts list.
What would cause certain pipe diameter not be drawn at the correct size it the style is defined correctly?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Networks - Connect To Part
Jun 5, 2013I have a 18' x 10' special structure where I'd like to be able to connect the pipes as shown to the structure but I'm not aware of any way to force the Connection point of the pipe to the desired location along the structure.
Normal behavior is to connect all pipes to the same insertion point or center of structure.how to go about maintaining pipe connection orientation to reflect the design requirements?

Dec 31, 2013Using part builder, I created a new pipe part for an odd-sized CMP arch pipe. In plan view, the pipe looks good. At first glance, I thought the pipe was drawn correctly in a profile view, but I realized that the pipe was displayed with the invert located at the wrong place in the profile view. I thought this was because the insertion point of the new pipe part that I had made was placed at the incorrect location in part builder.
So, I swapped out the incorrect pipe size for another one that I knew was correct, and then deleted the incorrect pipe from the pipe parts list, and went back to part builder, and placed the insertion point at the invert of the pipe; then saved the edited pipe part, ran partcatalogregen, added the "corrected" pipe part to the pipe parts list and swapped in the new corrected pipe size to the pipe network. However, the pipe still displays incorrrectly on the profile view.
The pipe data is correct in the pipe properties: the invert is stated to be located at elevation 20. The overall height of the pipe , 38" (3.1667') is correctly displayed on the profile view. But the actual location of the pipe invert is not shown at the correct location, elevation 20, on the profile view.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Model A Force Main With Several Vertical And Horizontal Bends?
Sep 5, 2012I am trying to model a force main with several vertical and horizontal bends. Getting the network set up and drawing in the pipe segments with the styles is a sinch, what I am having trouble with is modelling the horiz and vert bends to show up both in plan and profile view. I have done many sany and storm profiles but this is a first time with a force main. Does Civil 3d have the capability of modelling these or is this more of an MEP type task?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Volume Calculations For Concrete Piles
Dec 9, 2013I have been asked to do volume calculations using Civil 3D for some concrete piles for a oil/survey company. I have done volume calculations for site and land development projects but nothing to do with concrete piles before. It also appears I am the only person with any Civil 3D back ground in the office. I did mention my experience with Civil 3D was limited but I was trying to expand it by looking for Civil 3D jobs and working through the 2012 Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D book.
I am assuming doing volume calculations for concrete piles is quite different from doing volume calculations for grading plans. The company has been primary using AutoCAD Maps and doesn't have much set up for AutoCAD Civil 3D yet.

Nov 20, 2013Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.

Jan 8, 2014One of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

Apr 19, 2010I am using inventor 2010 sp1. I have a content center part that I want to replace the family template. I am having problems doing so on random components. Sometimes it lets me and sometimes not. I cannot pinpoint any differences or irregularities between the different library parts.
I am recieving the message indicating..."Import Part Invalid"
Here is my process
Open from content center and save to another folder with or without the same name.
Open Content Editor
right click and replace family template
Recieve this message. "Import Part Invalid"
Note that i made no changes to the file.

Then i prepared the drawing for that i mean *.idw. In the drawing file i have to attach a part list. and i need to add the the new colum generated in family table to part list.Do we have any option available to add the specified column in part list ?

May 13, 2013I've got an error everytime I try to replace a Family template in my Content Center (I work with Inventor 2011).
I try with a simple part. Here's the steps:
1- Create a simple part (cube with Width, Height and Depth parameters)
2- Create an iPart with 12 members
3- Publish the part in the Content Center
4- Modify the part (add a column in table)
5- Save
6- Open Content Center Editor and click on Replace Family Template
Got the error: "Import Part is Invalid".
I tried "Save As" instead of "Save" and got the same result.

May 17, 2013I'm a bit confused on the style library system built into Inventor - it isn't very intuitive.
I'd like to create my tube and pipe styles as well as sheet metal styles and have to never create them again - regardless of the project/workspace. Is this something that can be saved in the standard part/assembly template files? If so, how?
I'm tired of creating styles every time I start a new document - it is a waste of a lot of time! And I'd like to avoid having to import settings on every document.
