AutoCad :: Creating A Tube With 45 Degree Angle
Jan 3, 2012
I'm trying to draw the following bench in Autocad but I'm getting bogged down trying to figure out how to create the following tube with an angle on it and how to achieve different shapes at the top of tube.

Is there a shortcut to draw a 45 or 90 degree angle from a drawn line on an angle using the pen tool? ie. Rather than just from the x and y axis.
I trace a lot of maps and site plans.

I'm trying to sweep it around shape like this But it won't, it says "The selected path curve is not valid." - so what do I do? (it is polyline) Is there maybe some other way to get this 3D shape fast?

easier way to program 45 degree corners on the top flange of two mating parts. We can't bend the ends on so they have to be welded. I am using inventor 2014 professional. Almost all my programming is done in sheet metal.

I am trying to make a toilet paper roller; standard white ones with the spring inside [URL] .
I need to cut the bottom of the cylinder at a 45 degree angle from the center to wall so if the roller was standing, it would be at an angle of 45 degrees to.
I have attatched what I have so far.
I am having trouble with the slicing. I am not sure how to chop the whole cylnder at an angle.
Also how do I remove the yellow lines and the white line with the measurement .1280 (you'll understand when you open the file)

I am trying to make a cut on a 12" D cylinder at a 45 degree angle and i am having a little trouble. I have projected the shape onto the curve and sketched it. Now to finish the cut do i need to scuplt that path or how do I go about doing this.
I provided a screen print to try and and explain it a little batter. The half moon looking sketch is what i am tring to cut out of the cylinder. i have already projected the surface lines on the cylinder, but get stuck at this point

What's the best way to model an alley with a 90 degree angle (turn). Do I treat it as an intersection with a zero radius? My typ section is 15 feet width with a 4% slope down to the center of pavement. "V" bottom. Not sure how to get it to model the outside corner and also eliminate the inside overlay.

I'm trying to create a dynamic block for plywood. I have the stretch parameter working so that I can stretch the plywood to the needed length. I also have set a rotation parameter based on the various roof pitches that we use. The problem is I would like to be able to rotate the sheathing to a 45 degree angle and then stretch along the 45 degree angle. Once I rotate the sheathing the stretch does not follow the rotation angle. I have attached the file.

I have a custom elbow that has an angle of 89° in the tube and pipe author dialog but I cannot select it in the tube and pipe style in the "elbow custom" field where the filter properties are 45° to 90°. I can select it as the standard elbow though where the filter properties are 90° to 90°. This doesn't make any sense. All the other filter properties (grayed out) are the same.

What is the best way to create a workplane at a given angle on the surface of the tube. Imagine the workplane long and thin running along the surface of the tube. The angle will be a parameter (from a sketch or user).
I'd like the workplane to always be on the surface of the tube, even when the diameter of the tube (from a dimension in a sketch) changes.I'm thinking that a (angled) line in the same sketch as the two circles (which define the tube diameter and thickness) would be a good starting point.

wrapping a continuous line of text around a 90 degree bend. The third attached image is exactly what I need it to do. That is something I just put together as an example though.
I have some repeating information that I want to wrap around the border of an image. Being that it is repeating information, the text can also look like the first and second image uploaded, where part of the word is cut off. I would prefer this to be minimal though.
So far all I have found in my time searching on this leaves the words distorted.
No matter the complications, this also needs to be scripted. It is not feasible to do this manually as the repeating information is dynamic.
EDIT: The upload for the thumbnails is off.

I'd like to orient a picture of a book so that it's on a 45 degree angle and then "cut out" the area around the "book" to that when you view the picture is looks like a book on a 45 degree angle with no area around it. I'm sure GIMP can do that but the question is whether I can put that same photo on a website and have it look like it's a book on a45 degree angle.

To draw the cope end I subtract one tube from the other, this creates a taper from wall thickness t at the intersection of the inner tube face to zero at the intersection of the outer wall face. This loss of wall thickness is not ideal. To get rid of this less than full thickness material I create a slicing plane through intersection of non-cut tube 1 and the inner wall of the tube to be cut, I establish this point by drawing a 2D cross section.
I realize this a bit of a hack and it never works out spot on as the slicing plan never seems to match exactly the intersection point of the 3D tube inner wall.
I have tried to get a work around. i.e. :
- drawing a tube inner radius only subtracting from that then shelling-this only re creates the taper.
-offsetting the intersection edge of the inner wall and trying to project onto outer at 90deg-this does not offset correctly due to the complex geometry.

2. How to create a mitre maintaining full wall thickness. Non 90 degree intersections.
3. How to create a mitre maintaining full wall thickness. Tubes angled in 2 planes i.e. : for triangular space truss.
4. How to create a mitre maintaining full wall thickness. Tubes angled in 2 planes centers lines not coincident ie internal members offset to enable 2/3 to meet at same node.
5. How to deal with the above when using non round tubes.

Currently running inventor 2013 premium still on the free trial until it runs out and i register it.
I am trying to create my own tube and pipe style for a 22mm copper heating pipe run.
I have been through and created the parts and successfully published them into a user contents library.
I start a new tube and pipe run in an assembly. then go manage>tube and pipe styles.
I then hit 'New' i fuill out the details, select my pipe, bend and coupler...everything seems ok, i hit save.
it doesnt appear in the styles selection menu to the left (where it should and did on the tutorial) and whats more when i try and exit or do anything else the 'Save Edits?' warning comes up (clicking save doesnt work) This is the second tube and piping run in this assy. but is a whole new run rather than route.is it a bug? or lack of privileges?

I have a question about calculating the maximum tube length. Why do i ask this, because you can just measure it on drawing?
I'm building a parametric model for building simple storage tanks, and the goal is to get a complete BOM out of the model without any difficulties.
I have 4 possibilities of tube positioning on the tank. (see image)
1. A tube that stands in the center of the axis of the main tank.
2. A tube that stands in the center of the axis of the main tank, but under an angle
3. A tube that doesn't stand in the center of the axis of the main tank.
4. A tube that doesn't stand in the center of the axis of the main tank, but under an angle
These 4 possibilities can be flush with the inside of the tank or not.
Is there a easy way to determinate the longest point from the front of the tube? This longest measurement will be the length i need to get into my description for the BOM.

How do I repair a tubing constraint?
I use tubing in inventor, I always attached tube to whatever fittings I am using and everything is fine but if something gets moved that the end of the tube loses its contraint I'm ready to jump off a cliff!
Is there any way to get the end of the 3D sketch contrained to the fitting again?
Up until now I have always had to deleted the route and started over. Inventor Pro 2014

I received a drawing from a client, which has all the features on a coordinate system, But the drawing is rotated for some reason. Even after rotating the drawing the coordinates are the same as it was prior to rotation. I believe there may be some variables that has been changed for this. If a line is drawn A@100<0 it is drawn vertical instead of horizontal and like wise @100<90 is drawn horizontal instead of vertical.
Attached is the drawing.

Just exactly what does "Angle" represent when placing a "Rotation Parameter" in a DBlock?
I've tried a bunch of diff angles and haven't noticed a difference. I'm trying to figure out just what effect diff values would have. I thought that maybe when rotating the block instance, I'd only be able rotate it "so far" (270 degrees in the example I've shown). But it still went well beyond that.

Is it possible to create text that lies at an angle other than the horizontal? I have seen plugins with neat tricks like circles and spirals, but what I need is only to write text at an angle but otherwise in the same plane. So "hello" in a straight line, but 45 degrees from true. I've looked at rotational tools, and all I can find are horizontal/vertical flips, which are not the answer.
If there is a command that I'm missing, or a plugin that would allow a text (or anything else) to be rotated along a non-90 degree axis, that would be great.

Is there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.
