AutoCad :: Auto Track Alignment Path Display

View 4 RepliesThis is beyond CAD; but I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask. Can Inventor track a part in an animation and plot the resulting path? This cycloid is a good example (the red curve):

verify if this is the intended forward/backward compatibility between C3D 2014 & 2013.
My project was previously using Data Shortcuts in C3D 2013. I opened the reference (not the source) drawing that uses a bunch of Alignments. During the initial drawing upgrade from 2013 into 2014 I get a message for each Alignment that, "{Alignment Name} was modified in a previous version of the software. Changes in the current were overwritten when the data reference was synchronized.". At this point everything seems fine.
The issue I'm having is that when I re-open that upgraded drawing using 2013 all of those same Alignments become promoted. They are no longer referenced!
I'm wondering if there's a way in AutoCAD Map 3d 2010 to bring in a points shape file and display it along a pipeline but not have the symbols overlap...I see where it automatically has conflict detection for the labeled features I bring in, but somehow want to have control over how the symbols are display on the alignment sheet. Is there a way to stairstep or offset two symbols that overlap or land on top of each other. I have several datasets like metal loss and growth rate I need to show but can't get the data not to overlap...I could do a larger scale but would just end up with tons of sheets.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a centerline alignment defined from a polyline that starts at the middle of an existing T-intersection and starts with Sta 1+00.
When I draw the existing profile using this alignment I want it to show starting from Sta 0+50, while the plan view maintains a visible centerline starting at 1+00. I can get the grid to display the 'previous' 50 feet easily enough, but not the existing surface line(s).
Is this possible?

Sometimes we need to extend the end of an alignment along it's path, whether it is a tangent or curve. I don't know of any tool to do this. Is there such a tool?

IF it is possible to display the alignment/profile position (X, Y, Z) on each section view?
Refer attached for example.
I have an alignment for a proposed steel gas pipeline that is several thousand feet long. The alignment is stationed and set to display PI symbols (triangle) at each change of direction. However, steel pipe is relatively flexible so small changes in direction (a few degrees) are irrelevant and I do not want the PI symbols to display in those areas. Is there a setting (a tolerance so-to-speak) in Civil 3D to edit when PI symbols are displayed for an alignment. For example, I want to set it such that PI symbols are not displayed unless the alignment changes direction by more than 10 degrees at a given PI.

How can i make it auto line alignment in ScriptUI?
I'd like to start using the auto-publish feature in Autocad, however the options for the file location are pretty limited. I'd like to set it to something like the following:
../transmittals/current issue/
but the options I'm presented with is either an absolute location, or the drawing folder or subfolder.
Is there a sysvar or a registry setting I can tweak to make this behave to my liking?
My dragged state leader does not display properly. The attachment runs through my first line of text. My display is set to "As Composed" I do not want the stacked text setting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI took up the program to facilitate completion of a small project for a 16-year old daughter that's making an incredible recovery from a serious illness. I provide this background because I'm currently "a bit" impatient - and I'm HOPING GIMP can be used to get this done. What we're looking at is a VERY small "Heart Locket" our daughter was given at birth. What I'm looking to do is create "photo masks" for my wife and my faces so we can "craft" the photos in the requisite size (~1/8"x1/8") and shape (heart)! So far I've succeeded in importing a photo I'd taken of the Locket's interior with a Macro Lense at a "workable size," such that the finished "mask" can be scaled to match the photos we're using, then scaled down to final size in photographic process. And while I'm VERY impressed with Path Tool, I CAN'T find a way to eliminate the tedium of "hand-smoothing" the result. I actually found a plugin that'd been developed for this purpose in 2009, but fails to install because it's looking for (what I have to assume is) an older dll. I CAN'T be unique in this need, can I?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi looking a way for create a block after selected a Xref.
It is for display the path+Name of my Xref.
It use fields manualy put i can copy/paste the bloc. (ObjectId not egual in a 2 dwg).
I want :
1 - selec the Xref --> I know how to do that.
2 - create a bloc --> I know.
3 - create a att -> i know
4 - fill the att with the field --> ???
I like to have the path display in the title bar at the top of the screen. I check the box to display it in options. It works! But the text is almost illegible in the title bar. The title bar is black, the text is black with some cloudy grey background. It is impossible to read. I can't seem to find anyplace to change it's appearance either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA co-worker asked how to display the full drawing path in the window header. He said that it used to, now doesn't. I have never seen the full path of the drawing in the header before. Mine just says "AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 (Drawing File Name) [Project Folder]"
I checked in Options, but didn't see anything.
I was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?
When cutting video shots in sync with a music track how can I remove part of a clip and replace with a new shot. I know there is a replace clip facility but there appears to be no way of editing the new clip. What I would like to do is leave blanks in sync with the music and fill in correct length of shot later. The same question for overlaying video shots of an interview and holding sync when returning to interviewee.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn VideoStudio 6, how does one connect the voice track to the video during the editing process?
My specific issue is that I have to go back and edit material sometimes that precedes the voice track I already have laid down, but when the time frame of the material after my new edit I have to go back and drag the voice track to the proper location. I would like to be able to permanently "attach" the voice track to the specific video clip and have it follow that clip as it is moved, time wise, during the editing process.
Is there a means to make this happen?
PS - I realize there is a work around way - just publish each clip and then rebuild the final project but that is NOT what I want to do.
For the move tool you can choose to disable auto selection, auto select a group, or auto select a layer. By default though the path selection tool autoselects a layer. How can I disable autoselection?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI see that you can split the audio from the video. Can you do the reverse and link the audio back into the video say after you split, cut and mute an off camera scream? It would just make it easier to add clips before the edited one, although it's not all that hard to sync things up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm curious how many of you use note track in the track view/dope sheet? It is running damn slow here, 15sec to add a note track, 30sec adding a note in dopesheet and 1 mins before I could open up the note editor. I doubt it is being useful at all.
Moreover, the infamous Max MotionClip Manager bugs is caused by that... so do you really use it?
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

i've made a serpantine curve that starts from one line of alignment and end on the other line.
i wanted to know how can c change alignment direction when these two feature line and alignment meet each other in order to change the alignment path?
I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question on Alignment PI's. (Point of Inflection/Intersection)I have an alignment where some PI's have curves, others are merely hard bends.
Is there a way to automatically label the PI's even if they have an associated curve? (I'd like PI, PC and PT)Alternatively, can I only show markers at PI's without curves?
I'm trying to edit some existing alignments. When I create new entities, they do not show up in the alignment grid view. Why is this?

Launching alignment grid view/alignment entities,
I’m wondering if there is a way to launch alignment grid view/alignment entities (attached) without the need to first launching “alignment”? This dialogue box is quite essential in editing the values of radius, degree of curvature and deflection angle for the selected curve.
Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
