AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Mark Items In Alignment View To Display In Profile View?
Dec 20, 2012I was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?

Nov 28, 2013With ProfileView I can get Alignment Id.
pv= trans.GetObject(entRes.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead) as ProfileView; ObjectId idAlin = pv.AlignmentId;
Now, I want to do the same but for SectionView.
sv= trans.GetObject(entRes.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead) as SectionView;
but there isn´t : sv.AlignmentId;
Are there any ways to get Sample Line Group Id from section view either section view name or id?
I would like to get station value from selected section view by pick too.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section View From Alignment?
Jun 20, 2013Right, I'm working on a pressurenetwork for a new drinkwaterpipe. I created an alignment from network using the launch pad in the associative tab.
The alignment is crossing several other pipes and cables. What I made using the alignment is a surface profile and the profile of the drinkwaterpipe. Now I want to project the crossing cables and pipes into the profile view.
Now unfortunately it doesn't 'cut' the crossing cables and pipes at the alignment intersection, which would result in circles in my profileview. Instead it projects whole strengs of pipe.
Is there any way to create a section view from an alignment from start to end, instead of sample lines perpendicular?

Nov 27, 2012My Engineer has a Hec-ras file that he has been working on and I need to change some of the sections. I don't want to re-export all of my sections to a .goe file and lose the work he has already carried out.
Is there any way of exporting the necessary sample line information into a CSV file, as I believe this will be the best way to make the changes to the hec-ras data without losing the work which has already been carried out.

Nov 8, 2012I am having an issue when producing a section view with my corridor. I have a corridor and corridor surface, as well as an existing ground surface. I create a sample line group and sample EG, Corridor Surface, and Material. When I produce a section view I get 4 sections in the view: EG, Corridor Surface(with the corridor surface naming convention), and an additional section simply called "Corridor Surface".
This last section is strange in that it seems to be using the correct assembly, but not targeting the correct features. Also it has grips at all of the vertices which I havent seen before.
And the strangest part, when I click on properties for this section and go to section data, the columns for Description and Data Source are blank.
If there is no data source, then where is this section coming from, and why is it showing up when I did not specify that it be created. This is a real mind boggler to me and makes no sense. Screenshot attached.

Nov 28, 20121. I had trouble with profile view of the alignment line shown. What step am i missing? Are there things that is turned off?
2. How can I best come up with the right volume to fill.
3. Do I need to learn the grading tools? or could i get buy with a section profile from the alignment. ( it is not even an alignment yet)
4. How to I render a rock fill in this cave-in.
The attached aerial image , has survey or cogo points that are imported to surface, to become surface points. . So I wanted to create a surface profile below and an outline of fill above it. Iideally the side profile would look like a trapezoid, where the base is the surface proile and top would be the design embankment.
But the reason , a surveying crew went down and took shots at the shoreline and a couple shots around the cave-in walls (higher elevation on the cave-in wall cannot be surveyed, although I coud have used a laser , did not) is so that a more accurate volume of the cave in can be obtained. I tried to label how far the road edge is from edge of the cave-in . Norice the higher elevations are the top edge around the cave in area.
The ouline for the embankment will be a mild slope then breaks to a more steep slope. like 4 :1 , then 1.5:1

Mar 8, 2012I have a centerline alignment defined from a polyline that starts at the middle of an existing T-intersection and starts with Sta 1+00.
When I draw the existing profile using this alignment I want it to show starting from Sta 0+50, while the plan view maintains a visible centerline starting at 1+00. I can get the grid to display the 'previous' 50 feet easily enough, but not the existing surface line(s).
Is this possible?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile View Of Alignment In Civil D & Google Earth Varies
Dec 25, 2012I imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Cross Section Display
Feb 8, 2012I am working with cross sections for the first time and have run into a few things I can't seem to figure out. In attachment XSEC CIVIL 3D.pdf you will see how the cross sections currently look in my drawing.
My questions:
1. I cant seem to edit the elevation labels on the right side of the section to match the left side. Where/how can I do this?
2. What is the red line? In some sections it exactly follows the assembly section, but in a few (like this one) it doesn't quite follow. Does this line show where manual editing was done?
3. Where the pavement ends, there is a vertical line which I only want to show on the two pavement layers, it shows all the way thru the assembly. This also happens at the centerline of the assembly and at the edge of shoulder. I figured out how to turn them all off, but I want the edge of pavement vertical lines there.
4. Although the assembly section comes in on color 161 which should plot black for my pen setting, it plots true color. I haven't been able to figure out how to switch this. The second attachment shows a section from a LDD project a few years back which is how I would like this section to plot.

Feb 8, 2013I have an alignment for a proposed steel gas pipeline that is several thousand feet long. The alignment is stationed and set to display PI symbols (triangle) at each change of direction. However, steel pipe is relatively flexible so small changes in direction (a few degrees) are irrelevant and I do not want the PI symbols to display in those areas. Is there a setting (a tolerance so-to-speak) in Civil 3D to edit when PI symbols are displayed for an alignment. For example, I want to set it such that PI symbols are not displayed unless the alignment changes direction by more than 10 degrees at a given PI.

Jul 26, 2013I have been asked to place volumes on cross sections with a certain look, that I am not sure if it is possible. For know I am just going to use text, but I would like to come up with a solution for our template and work flow. Below is an attached copy of a markup I have received asking me to show this information on the cross section similar to how he has written it. At this point I only know how to create the tables of to the side. Is it possible to dynamically show this information quickly like shown below? I have a feeling the engineers I work with will not be happy at all with a table off to the side. I am currently using 2013

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: No Corridor Section Editor Display

When I open the Corridor Section Editor, the Ribbon changes to the Section Editor ribbon, but the section window doesn't come up. If I pan around, parts of the drawing disappear. If I close the editor and regen, everything comes back.

May 3, 2013Getting bizarre display in the Section Editor of the 3D Polylines that are in the drawing. The green line is the EG ground section.
In 2013, this same drawing displays normal, we don't see the 3D polylines in the Section Editor.

Nov 26, 2013is possible to create view frames with an alignment? my drawing is not linear, in fact, its a survey of large lake with bathy survey data, and topo data along the shoreline. is there a function to tell c3d to divide my model into as many sheets required to cover the surface based on the template/layout properties?
