AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Transport The Static Section Information To The Surface And Profile?
Dec 12, 2013
I've to put the sections on static mode on my project 'cuz the surface corridor won't creating right, can i transport the informations of the static section to the surface and profile? Basically i'm trying to change the informations on the static section and actualizing my surface and profile using the section changes
I have in front of me a survey of a small section of road (it's only 10m x10m or something). I want to be able to create a profile along the road section to demonstrate the surface level changes. I have created a network surface but Civ3D doesn't seem to able to use this type of surface to create a profile. Is there anything I can do, perhaps a way of transforming the network surface into another type of surface? Or am I going to have to manually create this profile in ACAD!
in civil 3d 2013 i have a existing surface, alignment, and profile that is data linked into another drawing when i create a profile view from the profile data link when i get to the profile display options under update mode it shows as beening static, i don't want it to be static i want it to be dynamic. is there a way or setting that will let me change that to static? we show the existing grade as hidden but with the static option set the grade shows up with long and short.
My Engineer has a Hec-ras file that he has been working on and I need to change some of the sections. I don't want to re-export all of my sections to a .goe file and lose the work he has already carried out.
Is there any way of exporting the necessary sample line information into a CSV file, as I believe this will be the best way to make the changes to the hec-ras data without losing the work which has already been carried out.
I am having some issues with surface profiles on a dreffed alignment no updating dynamically.
Currently it requires me to set them to static, then back to dynamic and they update.
I am well aware of the issue of dreffed surface profiles staying static. I am using the work around of dreffing in the surface and sampling in the drawing using the dreffed alignment.
Im creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.
Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a profile showing proposed storm sewer, existing sanitary, rock surface, existing surface, and proposed profile. Today for some reason the proposed profile and labels, and the existing surface are not showing on the profile and I'm not sure what has changed or how to get them back.
We have an engineer who is taking an existing surface and wants to show a proposed road 2" higher than existing.
I told him to simply adjust his assembly for his corridor to account for the 2" difference, but the County agency needs to see a profile.
My questions:
1) Is there a way to easily copy a profile made from a surface and "convert" it to a proposed profile? If we copy and explode, it turns into hundreds (thousands?) of tiny pline segments and it would be a mess to convert all those to a profile 1 by 1. If we make the corridor, and choose "profile from corridor", we do not have an option that could be used to represent the centerline.
2) Other than loss of dynamic updating), would it make sense to adjust the assembly so the top surface would be accurate, then copy the profile, explode the copy to a block and simply shift that (as essentially basic linework)?
Attached are survey points that created the surface of a road embankment portion that caved-in. The road is very near a reservoir shoreline.
1. How can a surface profile be produce? I/'ve use line to change it into an alignement and then create a proile , then a profile view. But the the surface profile is missing.
2.the points having higher elevation are the top edge( road level) of the cave-n . A few few shots were take before the shorline elevations.
3. What the best way to come up with the rock volume to fill the cave-in given this surveying points., Also the shoreline elevation will be lowered some more while work is being done since the fill is not allowed to fall in the reservoir.
I'm mainly work in 3D software (C4D, 3Ds Max). I have a client that wants to do high end traffic renderings. They have supplied me with the Infrastructure Design Suite 2014.
I received an old Microstation file from them, which I have then brought in to Civil 3D. I would like to add surfaces to this file so then I can export to 3Ds Max, and use Civil View to incorporate the design, and then traffic simulation data from VISSIM.
I have researched the entire work flow, the only thing holding me up is adding the surfaces to this Microstation file. It seems this is maybe not very common as I am having a hard time finding any tutorials or documentation on the internet.
I created a road centerline profile and corridor and then created a profile of the two curb lines from the corridor. The road profile that I made has a vertical curve in it but the curb profiles do not show that information, just grade breaks every 25 feet based on the corridor sampling distance.
I would like to have the vertical curve information on the curb profiles.
I want to label the surface sections (eg, fg) in a single location something like what is shown in the attached image.
Currently I am using a major offset label which refers to the surface description* where the surface name is stored. I set the increment to a suitable number which results in multiple labels along the section. I then drag one into position and delete the rest using ctrl-select. While it would be far easier to use multileaders to acheive the correct look, they don't update location with the section views.
We use the description to store the 'friendly' name as our object naming standard wouldn't necessarily make sense to the viewer of the plans.
I created some about 20 cross sections for a creek we topo'd and then went to work making the topo itself look presentable. After I was all done with that I noticed my cross sections had lost the surface data and were now just an empty grid.
When I go to edit a cross section's properties in the elevation tab the "Automatic" choice has a minimum and maximum elevation of 0. When I use one of those existing sample lines to create a single cross section the same thing happens, it's not picking up data from the surface. However, when I made a new sample line along the existing alignment it picked up the elevations and created a cross section just fine.
Is there anything I can do besides recreating all the sample lines and cross sections? I'm looking for any other way because I have already labled and put in some extra work on the cross sections and I'm hoping to be able to just recreate what I already did and drop them so it will match the linework I already did.
Often we build a design surface from feature lines and possibly a grading or two. Then we cut sections.
Now, for set out, and especially for smaller contractors who don't have fancy survey gear, it would be really nice to be able to show design surface levels in section bands BUT ONLY AT THE SURFACE-DEFINING FEATURE LINE LOCATIONS.
I am aware that we can use grade breaks...but this gives us band data at each triangle intercept which is too much data. We can weed this data, but that is indiscriminate and I really need only the data at the surface-defining geometry points (feature line locations.)
We can also use station/elevation labels on the section views but this is time-consuming and non-dynamic. Band labels are dynamic and more or less automatic...if only we could get the discrete locations we need labelled.
Created intersection added that to existing corridor. Then went to cross section sheets and the cut , fill and strip show up but no subassembly surfaces show for the intersection .
I have alignments that go in and out of a surface boundary (this is because I have a surface that represents the bottom of pavement.) I want to show the surface profile with the gaps in the profile view (where there is no surface. However in the profile view the gaps are sometimes connected with a straight line instead of being blank.
How can I have a surface profile represent the bottom of pavement properly? (An alignment that is not fully withing the surface boundary.) I know I could add the profile multiple time with different start/end stations But, I don't want that, I want it to be dynamic, as the alignment will change.
I have the profile of my pressure network and storm crossings converted into ellipses but I can't get my surface to show on the profile to show the amount of cover I have between the existing ground and top of pipe.
How to bring in the Finished Road Section on a longitudinal profile @ point on tie in. For example three road A, B and C are tieing in to Road X at different stations. I have profile of all the roads. and I want to change the profile of road X with reference to road A,B and C. for that I need reference road section of Road A,B and C on longitudinal profile of road X. How this can be achieved.
What type of objects can be projected into a profile view? I know that points, feature lines, and multiview blocks can be projected with variable results. I can't even find a simple list within Civil 3D's.

Is there a way to project just one feature line (or anything appropiate...polyline, 3d poly etc) into the sections group or profiles ?
The thing is that Projection tool, labels everything that's a Block, Point, 3d poly ...etc to the sections group.
And it puts all labels in the same layer.
My project theme requires to project forest limit on every section. This is appearing on the survey as a polyline along the road. Civil Engineer / Infrastructure of metropolitan transports [URL]
Civil 3d 2014.... I have existing surface and a profile with 5 sample lines. All of them are good except 1 sample offset. I can do I quick profile and the profile looks like it should but if I generate an actual profile 90% of the profile is off. I have already tried reoding the alignment but it looks same on either one.
I have a surface profile which has 2 surfaces in it. The surfaces overlap, and where there is overlap I just want to show one surface. Right now it looks like I'm going to have to smack a new boundary on the one surface to clip it, but I thought there might be a way to limit the display range of one surface in the profile.
Right now, I've only figured out how to do this so both surfaces are limited to the same range, but I can't figure out how to do it if you want to just control the range displayed of one surface and show all of the other surface.
I Created a profile from existing surface and created a layer called "PRO-EXISTING" and set linetype to "HIDDEN". I also set my standard style to display linetype "BYLAYER" but my dashes are not even like polylines when plinegen is "ON"
