Premiere Pro :: Why Can't Link A Mono Track With A Stereo Track

View 8 RepliesI have seen a number people new to smoke get confused when trying to edit mono audio source to a stereo track only to find the audio doesn't doesn't appear.
How about a preference that automatically splits the mono audio so that it edits to the stereo track?
If it was on by default it would definitely be of less confusion to new users
Or perhaps a dialogue box explaining why the edit did not work due to the differing audio properties.
Great work with getting smoke to where it is!
I see that you can split the audio from the video. Can you do the reverse and link the audio back into the video say after you split, cut and mute an off camera scream? It would just make it easier to add clips before the edited one, although it's not all that hard to sync things up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy video material holds two voices that were recorded on CH1 and CH2 in mono, resulting in a stereo clip that has one voice on the left channel and one voice on the right channel. So far I always duplicated the audio clips and use fill right and fill left. I just found out about channel mappings in CS2 and CS3, but for my actual project it is too late since it is cut already. It is my first project I'm doing in CS2 and after it is finished I will install CS3. So my first question is: When I use the channel mapping command, how are the resulting mono channels handled in the master? Will each mono channel fill the right AND the left channel of the stereo master track?
With delight I found out that the channel mixer in CS2 allows to use fill right and fill left effects, so I don't have to drag the effects on each clip separatley.
My second question is regarding the mixing of the two voices. Since we couldn't afford to have a professional sound engenieer at the shoot the channel of the voice that was not talking wasn't turned down, so the second voice will be heard on the other channel when the two people stood close together. Is there a more efficient way to mix the two voices instead of using rubber bands to bring down one voice when it is not talking? It's a hell lot of work.
I am using VSX3 and have a question about whether it is possible to mix/edit the audio track for the MTS files added to the project when the audio is 2ch stereo?
Basically what I want to know is how to remove or lessen voices that are close to the camera's mic, when I am really interested in keeping the audio of the subject I am focused/zoomed in on?
Case in point, my wife was filming my son's pre-k moving up ceremony and we have some priceless video of him singing up on the stage. But a portion of the soundtrack is ruined by her yelling at my mother-in-law that she is holding the point-n-shoot camera upside down and the ensuing conversation. In this case, editing the clip or adding music and fading out the clip audio won't cut it.
Merged two mono tracks into a stereo one, then highlighted the clip and tried to cut the clip using ctrl-V - all that happens is the track becomes unhighlighted.
If i use shift Ctrl-V, then the track does get cut but so does every other track!
I checked the keyboard shortcuts and i'm pressing the right keys, just not seeing anything happen...
I'm using the PR5 version on OSX10.7.3
When cutting video shots in sync with a music track how can I remove part of a clip and replace with a new shot. I know there is a replace clip facility but there appears to be no way of editing the new clip. What I would like to do is leave blanks in sync with the music and fill in correct length of shot later. The same question for overlaying video shots of an interview and holding sync when returning to interviewee.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn VideoStudio 6, how does one connect the voice track to the video during the editing process?
My specific issue is that I have to go back and edit material sometimes that precedes the voice track I already have laid down, but when the time frame of the material after my new edit I have to go back and drag the voice track to the proper location. I would like to be able to permanently "attach" the voice track to the specific video clip and have it follow that clip as it is moved, time wise, during the editing process.
Is there a means to make this happen?
PS - I realize there is a work around way - just publish each clip and then rebuild the final project but that is NOT what I want to do.
I'm curious how many of you use note track in the track view/dope sheet? It is running damn slow here, 15sec to add a note track, 30sec adding a note in dopesheet and 1 mins before I could open up the note editor. I doubt it is being useful at all.
Moreover, the infamous Max MotionClip Manager bugs is caused by that... so do you really use it?
I just finnished editing a music video.
It has over 8 video tracks and now I want to export it to a EDL format but It looks like everything needs to go on 1 video track.
I need to fade a music track in and out but I'm not able to add keyfrmaes with the pen tool. And the Add Keyframe button next to the audio track in sequence is greyed out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI captured video that is mono, and want to make it stereo? VS5 . I tried splitting the audio and trying to place it in another track which didn't work the closest I can get is to set it on 5.1 channel. But it doesn't quite sound correct in the right speaker.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mic I'm using to record is a mono (single channel) and I find that no matter what I do in VSPX5, the audio to my video stays in mono. I've tried saving an audio file of the clip as mono or stereo. I've tried saving the video using different compressions as well. Still, the audio only comes out of one speaker.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just came over from Sony Vegas Pro 9 (which kicks ***, but has bad native support for DSLR files).
In Vegas you can apply effects to video in three ways:
1. A whole clip in the project media bin (automatically applying such effects to all timeline events using this clip).
2. Individual timeline events.
3. Entire video tracks (automatically applying such effects to every clip on the track).
Is this possible in Premiere CS5? I find it hard to believe that it's not possible since it is such a useful thing to do. For example, what if you have a bunch of footage that you want to look grainy but you don't want to apply the same effect to every timeline event from the clips because it is time consuming and creates many sources of change if you want to tweak the effect settings?
Is there any way to track select backwards, a la FCP7, in Premiere? I've tried all the modifiers but no luck. I'm guessing 'no but feel free to fill out a feature request'..
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I right-click on the soundtrack and select 'edit in audition' it does the 'render and replace', but does not open Audition. Even when I open Audition first, it will not place the sound track in the Audition software.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI watched a video clip and I liked everything from, let's say the :30 mark to the minute mark. So, I import it into Premiere. However, when I put it at the end of the next clip, it shows the time for the whole sequence. Now, I know that I can do the math, but is there a way to show where the 30 second mark (in this example) is by avoiding doing the calculation? It's do-able, but seems a little tedious. Would like to "reset the clock" so to speak when working on individual clips within the timeline.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been hit and miss. I am now consistenly getting a dynamic link server connection trying to use Track camera in After Effects.
64GB RAN
Windows 7 proffesional
i7 processor
NVIDIA GEFORCE TITAN
I have enabled all the recommended programs through my firewall. I see the dynamiclink server is running in my task manager, I have closed all other programs, no antivirus, I have restarted my computer, no luck with this.
Also to add additional information:
It seems that when I try to do replace with After Effects composition in Premiere Pro I am getting error: The importer reported a generic error
and also when I first launch After effects I am getting a failure to load a few plugins from CineForm including importer
the latest Premiere Pro CC update is supposed to improve multi-cam editing of MXF footage, but I'm still having problems with C300 footage. After flattening a multi-cam track (containing a mix of C300 and Canon 5D 3), some of the C300 clips appear with a striped pattern (the represeantation of the clip in the time line), and don't play back any content. The content is still there, but I have to go back into the original multi-cam sequence, find it, cut it out and replace the "empty" clips in the flattened track.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm new to CC's Mulicam feature, but well versed in the more limited equivalent in FCP. I was delighted with everything about it, until I began actually cutting multicam footage into my sequence.
Whenever I try and overwrite/insert/drag the multicam material into the sequence, it brings in 18 audio tracks- in spite of the fact that my multicam sequences have only 4 audio and 2 video tracks.
No amount of track deselection on the destination sequence works with this. This is going to be a real problem as I add new material into an existing a rough cut, with a 5 track temp mix. how I can specify only 1 or 2 tracks of audio?
I'm running 7.2.2, on OSX 8.5.

Is there any way to push the video in the video track after the title track is completed ....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am exporting dailes clips. We record dual system and there are two different audio levels - on the two different channels. However, when I export a clip from Premiere and set the audio option tol the uncompressed codec it defaults to a "single track" audio layout with no option to change. However, if i change the codec to AAC or any other I am allowed to chose whether I want a single mono track or a stereo track.
Additionally - if that single uncompressed track is an amalgamation of my original two tracks - or if it has just defaulted to one or the other.
I have a problem with Video-Studio ProX 4: If I insert a new file in the midst of a cued sequence of files, than the cued video-files of the video track give place and stay synchronized, but NOT the subtitles on the title track - therefore I must they all manual synchronize again with the video-track, - what can I do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am bringing DPX files into Photoshop as Image Sequences. Afterwards, I am using Export…Render Video, set to Adobe Media Encoder, H.264.
The resulting H.264 files have an AAC audio track (presumably, with nothing but zeros, because there is no audio with this material.) How do I prevent Photoshop from adding an audio track?
I don't see a way to delete the audio track from the timeline. I don't see a way to export only video in the Render Video settings.
I've installed NewBlue ColorFast, and it shows up in VS X6 as expected. If I drag and drop it onto the video track, the changes I make apply, no problem. But if I drag and drop it onto the overlay track, then make the changes I need, they don't stick … they go away when the dialogue is closed. Is this filter limited to the video track only? Or do I have a problem here?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rendered (in animation software) a series of .png files with transparency for an overlay in VidStudio. 150 of them that all need to be shortened from the default photo duration of 3:00 seconds. Plus, for each one, I will need to adjust the size of the overlay track. Is there a way to manage the entire track for these adjustments? Or a place to adjust the preferences..?
