View 4 RepliesI am trying to revolve a rectangle around its height in order to get a 3d object but I get a message : "The object should be on one side of the axis." .
View 9 Replies View RelatedI migrated to 2013 last week (from 2012). I have a welded part which consists of only two items: a hub and a plate. I brought in that welded piece into another file which is going to take care of the machining. I machined one side without any issues. The second side refuses to machine the back of the plate. It does everything else but will not cut into the back of the plate.
Please find attached the part I am trying to machine 60077B which is made of 60077F which in turn is made of 50176 & 50204. The final thickness of the plate is supposed to be 1" currently it holds its ground at 1.063".
I have been using AutoCAD to create product designs (baby bottles) for the last three years. I am normally drawing lines, arcs and splines to create the shape, then I use PEDIT to create a closed polyline and REVOLVE to create a SOLID 3D object from that shape.
Couple days ago, AutoCAD is not longer creating 3D solids when I use REVOLVE as usual (even using older files and/or the same shapes or polylines that I have used before to create 3D solids). The result of REVOLVE is "SURFACE (REVOLVE)" (I got that from properties). But, the most uncommon thing is that AutoCAD is revolving fine one or two times per day after many many tries. (normally I am closing and opening files and trying to revolve some stuff many times, using the same process and suddenly it revolves the sahpe as a 3D solid)
I attached a picture showing two objects created using the same group of lines, splines and acrs. One is a solid 3d object and the other one is a surface (revolve) as result of using REVOLVE command. WHY????
I am trying to do the Merging Geometry section of the Revolving Door tutorial. I have completed the first section up to the point where I saved "my_revolving_door_animated.max". The next step is the merge. I chose Import>Merge from the Application menu. I can't find startupentranceway.max anywhere. I opened my Documents library on the HD I downloaded everything from Parts 1 & 2. The entranceway folder is there. Is there any way I can import from there to merge with my scene?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAs part of a larger job we have surveyed the top of a dry stone wall. The client now wants that we make a solid for him from the surveyed points with a height of 2000mm (the drawing units are in millimetres).
A 3d polyline was created from the lines joining the points and I have that in the attached drawing.
I'm not looking for someone to create the wall, but I'm looking for the method to do it, as it will certainly crop up again with this new client. I've tried many ways in both AutoCAD and Civil 3D but just can't create the solid.
Creating object in 3D solid? The circles have the same height in both edges.

but Autocad throw an Invalid Input exception.
I'm trying to create a 3D solid from four 3d polylines that represent a bridge deck .
If it is not possible to create a 3D solid, can i create a surface?
I like to create a chin from 2 ellipses profile. I used the Loft command and it does not allow me to complete the command. Did I use the right command wrongly? Or there is another way to do so?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI try to migrate our ObjectArx Api to Inventor. Therefore I need a function to create a mesh from a solid.
With Autocad .Net Api, I can use GetObjectMesh(DbObject obj, MeshFaceterData parameter). Does in the Inventor Api a similar function exist?
In the parameters I need to set the deviation in the same way as in the Autocad .Net Api.
Example:
FaceterDevNormal = 0.1;
FaceterDevSurface = 0.1;
FaceterMeshType = 2;
I have two .dwg files that represent two different surfaces. I would like to import each .dwg file into Inventor, then create a solid with the original surfaces serving as the top and bottom. I can send the .dwg files if necessary.

View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD 2014 I'm trying to model the tummy cut on the back of a guitar similar to this:
2013-06-03_15-46-23_140_zps0a2815e5.jpg
I've modeled it to my liking using a mesh surface, how can I "subtract" this area from my 3d solid body? I also have Fusion360, but don't really know how to use it.
I am using AutoCAD R14. I need to create a solid which is sort of wedge shaped. But the top surface twists (like a propeller blade). So it is not in any one plane. Also, that surface is not square (no right angles). The bottom surface is flat and in the x-y plane. It is a quadrilateral. The other three sides are a rectangular flat surface and two triangular flat surfaces.
I don't know how to create this shape as a solid. I was able to create several polylines to accurately describe the shape but then when I tried to join them together to create a solid using the UNION command I get the following error message: "At least two solids or coplanar regions must be selected." How can I create this solid?
i need import a dwg to inventor for create a solid.
The problem is when a import the file, in the "layers and objects import options" , inventor don't show me some layers present in the dwg.
I have borehole data of a site, where I want to sort of extrapolate the borehole data to the whole site, so that I can have a 3D soil model of the whole site. I have attached my DWG file, the vertical lines represent the borehole data and different colors represent different types of soil.
I'm thinking of manually extrapolating the data to the edges of the site, then split the site area into few different parts, and then create solids for each part, where each point is a vertices of a solid. But how to create a solid from 8 vertices, which would naturally form a closed solid like a box.
Besides this, are there any other methods of achieving what i want (3D soil model from borehole data)?
I have just downloaded an educational version of Inventor. Although I can create sketches I cannot extrude the sketch to form a solid. The origin arrow heads appear over size and it seems as if the origin plane is being extruded to form a solid!
View 2 Replies View Relatedcreate a plane and mirror a solid?
I am planning to have the following workflow:
Plane creation:
Through the z-axis and at an angle of 7,5° to the XZ-Plane
Naming the plane - Mirror Plane
Turning off the plane visibility
Mirror solid:
Add mirrored solid to the existing solid
Here is a sample ao the code...
Dim oDoc As PartDocument
oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument
Dim oCol As ObjectCollection
oCol = ThisApplication.TransientObjects.CreateObjectCollection
'This does not work...
oCol.Add(oDoc.ComponentDefinition.SurfaceBodies(1))
'Here I want to create a new plane
Dim oPlane As WorkPlane
oPlane = oDoc.ComponentDefinition.WorkPlanes(1)
Dim oMirror As MirrorFeature
oMirror = oDoc.ComponentDefinition.Features.MirrorFeatures.Add(oCol, oPlane, False, kOptimizedCompute)
I have also attached a simplified part file where the code has been copied inti the iLogic browser
If you can create a solid by lofting between two section, in this case they are 3d polylines, along a given path. The path is at the top of the sections. Using the loft command I have to key in the PO ( point ) option several times to get the path option to show then when I select the path it gets treated as another section. See attached.

I've tried several terrain plugins, but they all seem to malfunction because I have overlapping contours. Here is the dwg, what I'm trying to make.
I cannot figure out how to create a solid surface on top of the retaining walls and also how to grade the transitions for the high to low points of the retaining wall. This would be so much easier for me in Solid Works

I want to create a pyramid with a base of three sides with different lenght. In the end i want to have a solid where i can drag and move the notes to change the hight,lenght and the angle of the sides.
I already managed to draw it in 3d but now i want to convert the drawing into a solid and keep it flexible to change the parameters by draging the notes.
I also tried to extrude a triangle with a specific angle but then i was only able to move the top note up and down changes the hight. Doing it this way the top note also kept beeping in the center-point of the triangle.
Any program that can accept point clouds (which will be millions of points) from a 3D laser? Then we would like to create a solid model of the structures and piping.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAs you can see, the nature of my model forbids me from making a 3D solid using LOFT.
The top surface is consisted of 3D polyline and arc, which if "joined" will be become a spline.
The bottom surface can easily be joined into polyline.
If I loft the top and bottom, it'll only give me a LOFTED Surface, which is not I want (wanted a 3D solid).

My boss asked me to do a part for GibbsCAM which includes a 7/8" left hand wire rope imprint in a block of steel for this afternoon's production. I have my block done, what is the best way to do this? I'm thinking create a wire rope solid to cut out of my block. Would I use the thread tool: that's not the same but would it work?... I don't need a representation. I need the read thing that will work!
