AutoCad 3D :: Overly Contrasted Rendering
Sep 22, 2011
Rendering produces super contrasted image almost white on black (actually grey subject on standard background). Rendering stopped working this morning after running it on full res and size last night. Everything else, even high memory functions, seem to work fine.

2007 mac book pro/ mac autocad 2011 2012
I've seen this issue raised by others with no solution to the problem. Here's what I tried:
-lower render output resolution and size
-make new simpler drawing with no materials (same problem)
-open file in MAC 2011 (same problem)
-reinstall autocad MAC 2012
-copy paste drawing into new file
-verify that default lighting and sun are off
I haven't figured out how to restore 2011 or 2012 settings to default.

Last month, I was drafting a simple 2d floor plans for my school assignment but the cad file size became huge and started to crash. After consulting my lecturers, I did a few things to attempt to solve the overly huge file size.
1. Redrew the drawing from scratch
2. Purged both old & new drawings
3.Auditted both old & new drawings
4. Saved each floor plan as a separate drawing so as to reduce file size
However, the same problem occurred and the new drawings also became too huge & slow to work with.

I have a picture that I am wanting to overlay on top of a video clip. The picture is on a white background. I want to make the background disappear, but have the image show at its normal quality. (basically I have a image of a halo that I want to put over someones head, but the white in the image is obviously taking space in the video clip.
I was able to do this in Cyber link Power Director but cant seem to find a way in video Studio.
I played around with "Mask and Chroma Key", but that just makes the entire image transparent, and I am only looking to make the background transparent.

After a computer crash, Lightroom 3.6 is showing all my pictures, all cameras (7D, T1i, G12) with an oversaturated orange colours (to fix this I have to reduce red saturation by -15 and increase red hue by +68 ) . I do not see this in CS5 not in Canon's DPP. I could create a new rpofile to revert this issue, I am afraid this will cause issues when I upgrade to newer versions.What can I do to restore my old settings without messing my updates?

If you model a spere, render it and drop the opacity, so that you can see anything which was inside. And give your 3d model the usual backgroung "The Sun"
The sun will cause a yellow shadow from the spere, is there a way of turning the shadow off for individual objects ?
p.s im using AutoCAD 2010

I have seen some very impressive renderings on this site, and would like to give it a try using Autocad 2010. I have done basic renderings before, well mostly shading, just interested how people are getting renderings that look so realistic in Autocad.

I'm new to 3d.....How to render a drawing like the image attached. I know how to attach materials, but the powers that be want it to look like the image. Also can one solid have different colors assigned to it? The drawing attached should hopefully explain what I mean.

I am new to AutoCAD and was wondering if there is a quick and easy way to take 2D linework and attach materials to it for rendering. (i.e. I would like to make my 2D elevations look like it has actual siding on it... how cna I do this?)

I've been using AutoCAD for about eight years now for architectural support in 2D. Lately drawing models for my smaller parts and rendering to get the message across. Problem is rendering. I can never remove the segmenting of arcs and circles even in the highest of setting. Does AutoCAD have fundamental problems with rendering solids? I've used 3rd party programs for rendering also with the same results.
Example of my setting:
Viewres = 20000
Facetres= 10
Whiparc = 1
segments in a polyline curve = 30000

when I was test-rendering a scene where you are supposed to be able to look into nearby rooms through glass walls. But the glass reflected the surroundings like å mirror. In some tries i could barely see some furniture in the other room, so the transparency isn't completely gone.
I use a solid glass material, at first i thought the material's reflection value was too high, but it was set on five, I tried to reduce it to 1, but the rendering came out just the same.
I have tried with different lighting options, but again... the same miserable result.

Translating when rendering only seems to use 1 cpu core and takes 90% of the render time, so having a quad core processor running a view that takes 10 min render only gives me a 5% decrease in time over a dual core...
I don't think you can really call Inventor rendering a multi core app?

I draw a three drawer night stand and would like to Render it using pine wood. Ideally I would like to see each part of this cabinet to have "different grain pattern" (in real life there's no two pieces of wood the same). Is this possible? So far my cabinet looks better in "shaded with edges" view than Rendered... Is there a way to edit material (one material) that shows different "patterns" after rendering?

Which software application can I use to create a rendering of an elevation from just 2 dimensional dwg plans and elevations? I was interning in an office where the developer hired a render to develop illustrations of our design. The render said he only required our first floor and second floor plans, and the elevation we wanted rendered. The turn around time was very quick (24 hours). I was surprised as building a model takes me a long time. The cornice was very detailed, it would have taken much longer to build a model.

Is there no way of reducing the time?. I understand that this process involves solving of differential equations for reflection of light from various materials in the building etc. Can it not be done through Autolisp instead of going through .NET languages. Common Lisp is also a powerful OOP language. If Alisp cannot do it can Autodesk implement CL and cut short the time?.

As I'm in the final days of my master project the combination of boredom and stress has struck, resulting in me moving to 3d for the first serious time.
What I'm trying to model is a train station based on a 2d design drawing I have already made. Creating small models for objects is not too hard, but for some reason AutoCAD only seems to render a limited area of my drawing, as shown on the attached JPEG.
Restarting AutoCAD solves the problem for a single render, but after that the same issue appears again.
The dwg file can be downloaded from my dropbox

Whenever i add in a background image (clouds in this case), everything that is reflective becomes see through. Is there a setting that can make this go away? It does it with every, single background image that i've ever used. Recently, i've started to just not use them, but i really need to put a background with some of these for a Job Fair for our company. If you see below, the piping (i know it shouldn't be THAT reflective but that's what they want) becomes slightly see through as well as the hand rails and foot boards..
I've attached a second example as well...

I am having trouble with rendering. the materials are not showing when i render it. i have checked the properties of the object under 3D visualization and it shows the material i applied and then i tried also to view it in realistic mode, it shows also the material i used but when i render it, the materials arent there. i was thingking the built in VGA has something to do with this because there are also instances that when i set the view to perspective, objects doesnt show... trying come up with justification so that the management will be pushed to upgrade my unit!

Is there a way to hand off all the rendering to a different computer? AutoCad is installed on my desktop, but it would be great to offload all the rendering to a server that has lots of CPU power. Is this even possible?

Why am i seeing all black when i rendered my southwest or southeast view, without setting up a camera. But other ppl of my peeps r seeing in colour and materails. Also, my other problem is when i put on realistic view, i m seeing grey-ish blocks instead of "real" materials. In my previous assignment, I did see the "Real" materials when i set it on realistic view. However i did try to reset to default for my realistic veiw, but still it did not seem to be working.

I have downloaded Inventor 14, and the program appears to start up without problems. However, when i create a simple sketch, it first says "Choose a plane". In my textbook, it shows a picture of the three planes to choose from. However, my computer screen shows a blank gray screen. It appears some tool bars are missing as well.
However, if i click in the space where I imagine the axis should be, it takes me into sketch mode. Similarly, when I draw a line, the information bar reads like I am drawing a line, but no line shows up on the screen.
Is there a specific requirement on my computer I could be missing? I have downloaded Inventor twice, and both times had the same problem with the program. Perhaps a video card I need to have, or a certain RAM requirement?

I make a code set style by doubling the "all codes" style. Then make styles of links points and shapes in which i turn off the visibility in model. I also leave the render materials in links.
I try the set with 3d orbit. But as i turn around the model the rendering materials start to uglify..I attach an image to better understand what i am saying.
When i turn on the visibility of links the problem solved.

I am trying to render a specific camera view for a specific mm lens. My issue starts when I select the camera and the pop up viewing window shows a particaluar camera view, I anticipate this as being the correct viewing lens as set in the camera properties. I then right-click on my camera and set the current view to the camera. This shows the outline of the camera FOV and beyond, which ends up being the final render plot. I know I can use 3dsmax for a more accurate depiction of what I want, but I like to proof my images before sending them over to 3dsmax. Which is the correct FOV as stated in the camera properties? Also, is this the same view as my render?
