AutoCad 2D :: Scaling When Plotting In Layout Tab?

Sep 4, 2011

If I used millimeters as my UNITS, how can I scale them when plotting it into A1 or A0? How will I know the scale that I will use in Layout tab so that it will fit on the paper that I will used?

AutoCad :: Scaling Annotations And Plotting To Scale In Millimeters?

Oct 16, 2011

First, when I have a drawing to scale in millimeters and want to put its attributes, the amnotations come out extremely small. It's caused me so many headaches. the units have been set to millimeters, limits from 0,0 to 200-150 ish. Drawing a small drawing within those limits tried very, very small annotations that you can't see unless you zoom 200 times in. I don't have that problem when drawing in inches though. Annotations come out great in inches.

The second problem is that, after I complete a drawing in millimeters and I want to copy and paste it onto my template (also drawn in millimeters to fit a 12-9 paper) the drawing comes out HUGE. At least 100 times bigger than the 1:1 scale should be. When I draw and plot in inches, the 1:1 copy onto a template comes out perfect, but for some reason it always does that in millimeters. I tried placing a block over the template with the "model" to scale and that looks closest to the proper 1:1 scale. I double checked on both the drawing and the template that their 1:1, they seemed fine so I printed. When I measured with a ruler it was still off by a bit.

What I can do to make annotating and plotting in millimeters as easy as with inches?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2012 Scaling Error When Plotting Profiles

Apr 23, 2012

When plotting profile plan sheets, there is an error in the scaling of the grids.  I can not seem to figure out why the plotter is not plotting correctly.  I did try creating a pdf of the plan sheet and plotting, but still have the same scale error.  It starts to get off scale after about 500 feet, so the error in scale is small, but still there.  It is off by about 2 or 3 feet at 500 feet on the profile grid.

AutoCad :: Use Layout To Print - Scaling Drawing

May 25, 2011

Scale in Layout. I drew my drawing in mm , and I want to use Layout to print it like I saw in a video, but how do I scale my drawing? For example, the counter and shelf I drew is 1:1 in the Model workspace(1600 by 2000mm) but in Layout, for printing on to an A3 sized paper how do I get it to print in 1:40 or something of that sort?

Right now I'm printing by using Fit To Paper with the dimensions included, but I notice our contractors are using 1:30, 1:40 etc. , my boss doesn't mind since I include the dimensions but I reckon it might cause problems in the future.

And is it possible to just select anything in my selection window, even 3/4 of a line? Because right now, I can only select the whole line no matter what, I only want 1/2 of it because I want to cut the whole drawing in half and move it apart.

By the way, is it possible to customize the panel? Instead of switching between tabs constantly, can I make my own panel? I googled this and tried using CUI but it is confusing. I just want certain sections grouped into 1 bar. Like... Draw/Modify/Attach/Windows all on the first panel.

I really want to be able to type in certain commands without hitting Enter, is that possible? If I hit M, it will move the object without me hitting Enter. Can that be done? Maybe not M, maybe Alt+1 to move, Alt+2 to Scale etc. etc.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Objects Not Scaling In Layout Viewports

Oct 30, 2012

After drawing in model space(1:1 Scale) I then dimension as needed using Annotative Dimensions, Multileaders and MText using the same 1:1 scale. But when I create the variuos viewports on my layout pages the dimensions aren't scaling to the viewport scale.

This is where it may be partly my fault; When I first started using annotative dimensions etc. a box would pop up asking what scale to use.  Because I am dimensioning in model space, rather than always seeing this text box I selected "Do not ask again" check box to always use 1:1 scaling.

These are some of the other settings in place;

ANNOAUTOSCALE = 4
Annotation Visibility = ON
Automatically Add Scales = ON

AutoCad :: Plotting Layout With Viewports At 1:1?

Jul 4, 2012

I made a 90 meter box in model, created a titleblock and added a viewport in layout. The viewport scale is 1:1. Plotting scale is 1:1. It just dawned on me that because everything is 1:1.... I should have a peice of paper 90 meters long. My thick head has managed to confuse me, Does Cad apply a scale to the viewports even though its set 1:1 and plotted 1:1?

AutoCAD .NET :: Retrieving Active Layout During Plotting

May 27, 2013

This error happened to us, when we tried to get the active layout from the acad document. We are using AutoCAD 2009 & C#.NET 4.0 Framework.

The error is as below:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common.AcadLayoutClass' to interface type 'Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common.IAcadLayout'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{C6F55F5A-33AF-4B5F-9949-86C6AEEF1834}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

The piece of snippet looks like the following

using Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common;
AcadApplication acadApp = (AcadApplication)Marshal.GetActiveObject("AutoCAD.Application");
AcadDocument acadDoc = acadApp.ActiveDocument;

//The following line throws the error as stated above

AcadLayout aLayout = (AcadLayout)acadDoc.ActiveLayout;

 But it can be accessed if we change the property " Embed Interop Types " of DLLs (a) Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop

(b) Stdole

from True to False

But again it throws the same error when we try to retrieve any methods from the retrieved AcadLayout. The whole application works fine with AutoCAD 2012 after re-referencing the DLLs.

AutoCad :: Plotting From Single Layout Into Multiple Files?

Dec 17, 2012

I have floorplans from a building with a total of 80 appartments. Now i want to plot PDFs in A3 format, each page with 1 appartment. That would be 80 pages/PDF-files.

The way i did it up to now was i have put all A3 pages in a single layout and used the Window-function in the Plot dialog to print each page individually, manually numbering the file-names, and combining files in Acrobat as needed.

But doing this for 80 pages is too much - especially because i will likely have to plot it more often in the future. As far as i can see, i could make 80 layouts and use the Publish function, make a sheet-list and plot that way.

I keep wondering - is there not a more efficient solution to this problem than creating 80 layouts? There must be a more intelligent solution to this. Whats the preferred way of doing this?

P.S. i use AutoCAD2007 and Acrobat for plotting.

AutoCad :: Plotting With New Printer Changes Moves Layout Sheet

Oct 31, 2012

We have a new printer/plotter in our office and Autocad cannot find the old one and so I have to select the new one. Here's the scoop:

When I am in the layout tab, everything is perfectly aligned in my layout sheet (24 x 36) and so I type plot and before the dialogue screen appears (We just got a new plotter) Autocad says: "such and such printer: This plotter config. cannot be used for blah blah blah.... The None plot device has been substituted." Which makes sense because that such and such printer is non existent. So i click ok. and the usual plot dialogue screen displays.

I select our new plotter and the exact size of my layout sheet (24 x 36) and click apply to layout and then preview it and it shows the layout cutting off my titleblock on the right hand side. So I cancel the plot (having applied the new printer and 24 x 36 config.) and look at my layout and either my layout sheet or my linework has shifted about 3/4" up and 3/4" to the side.

Why did something shift? My layout sheet was already aligned and at 24 x 36. I don't want to have to move it every time especially if I need to print off older drawings which are set up with the non existent printer. Should I or could I make autocad ignore the old printer and tell it to recognize the new one so I wont ask me every time i open an older drawing?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Plotting A Drawing From Layout Produces Crowded Labels

Mar 1, 2013

Plotting a drawing from layout produces crowded labels,

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t figure out how to print a drawing (attached) from the lay out. What I got is a very crowded drawing as shown in the screenshots below.

I wanted to print my drawings (contour, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, etc.) in an A4 with a scale of 1/1000 or 1/1300. Then what should be:

The annotation scale?
The viewport scale?
The plot scale?

What did I get very crowded drawing when I tried to print from the layout?

Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),
Firefox 20.0,
Kaspersky 2013.

AutoCad :: Dashed Lines Showing Up As Solids In Layout Area And When Plotting

I think i might have figured it out, when i set lts to 0.05 the show up fine in the layout area, but in the drawing are it looks like the line type scale is way too low. why the dashed lines don't show up the same in the drawing and layout areas?

Edge Animate CC :: Get Responsive Scaling AND Adaptive Scaling Combined?

Feb 21, 2014

New Responsive Scaling feature is great.

It's enabled me to add an Edge Animate file to my responsive Wordpress site using the Edge Suite Plugin.

Only problem for me is that although the 3.7MB file I’ve created scales perfectly on all devices it struggles to play on smartphones. (I assume it's too big and too power hungry to play smoothly on smartphones - even since I've added a pre-loader.)

So, in an ideal world, what I need is a separate low res Edge Animate file that only plays on smartphones.

Failing that, I’d be happy with a 'Down-level Stage' image which could replace the Edge Animate animation.

For a moment I thought I’d found a solution when I came across this Adobe TV movie: [URL]

Unfortunately this clever solution only works when the new Responsive Scaling feature is NOT selected. As soon as it is selected, the animation no longer changes from one layout size to another when the browser window is reduced.

I don’t mind whether the fix is in Edge Animate, Wordpress or the Edge Suite Plugin - I just want a solution!

AutoCad :: Plotting To PDF Versus Plotting To Printer?

Feb 26, 2013

I'm attempting to plot a drawing with a 3d shape and a title block around it. I would like for the occluded lines to not be drawn therefore I'm using the hidden visual style and set shade plot to hidden as well.

My problem arises from the quality of the plot to PDF versus the quality coming out of a printer. It is just a 8.5x11 page. The pdf comes out with horrible anti-aliasing and jagged lines, whereas the print is entirely smooth. Is there something simple I'm missing? It would be even better to find a way to make the plot to PDF come out in vector format! I know it is possible to show the layers and have them vectorized in a PDF... How is this done?

Photoshop :: Scaling, Scaling...

Aug 19, 2006

We are designing some web graphics for a friend. By "we" I mean me and a guy who lives on the opposite coast.

He did the initial page layout/design as a PhotoShop tif, at 300 dpi, in layers and about 5 inches wide. The idea, on his end, was that it would be a small file size and, therefore, faster to download on my end. With me so far?

Anyway, I'm suppose to convert it to 800 ppi wide, 72 dpi, jpg. Sounds easy enough. Or not Do all the scaling and now the graphics don't look right. None of the layer effects are right!

How do I scale his graphic, for my purposes and, once it's the size I need it, have everything look the way he created it?

Example: Text at that 5 inch wide, 300 dpi size with a one point stroke on it looked find when the graphic was 5 inch wide and 300 dpi, but at 800 ppi wide and 72 dpi, it's all wrong

Is there a preference or something I should be clicking somewhere and I'm just missing it?

AutoCAD LT :: Scaling In Hatch Feature

Apr 2, 2012

I am working on a drawing that started life as a dxf file from a client.  I am having problems with the scale of hatching in that whilst I might normally do a line hatch at a scale of 25 to get the same spacing I now have to set the scale to 650.

Initially I had a problem that the scaling in viewports was also wrong but I sorted that one out but I cannot find how to reset the hatch scale to my normal setting.

I am also finding that when hatching it seems to find gaps in lines that it would not normally do.  Even after I have filleted all the corners the hatch still in some cases 'spills out'. The measuring and dimensioning tools are all working correctly and show the correct figures.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Civil Tag Scaling

Oct 25, 2013

We receive site survey dwgs generated in Civil 3D that contain 3D topos with elevation tags. The elevation tags are clearly scalabe anno objects that scale correctly in the received civil dwg. The elevation tags won't scale correctly in our dwgs - they come in too small to see.

- Both dwg's have units set to decimal.

- I tried copying / pasting the viewport from the civil dwg to our dwg and the text is still too small. This tells me it's a dwg specific variable and not a viewport setting.

- I have Civil 3D object enabler installed, though I don't think this has any bearing.

It would be nice to use the original tags and not have to re-create every elevation tag.
