View 3 RepliesI am trying to modify a figure that was made in Inventor; I want to be able to move the limbs around and not end up with any un-natural looking poses. I'm starting with the hand/fingers, and not having much luck. It should be as simple as picking the axes of the different digits of the finger, and telling Inventor to use angular constraints, but I still keep getting painful-looking bends. Sometimes it appears to work, but by dragging the digits too far on the screen, then blow past the defined constraints.
Is what I'm looking to do not really going to work here? I can't do this with Bones in MAX; I need to be able to re-size this figure parametrically, and that can't be done in MAX where everything is a mesh.
How can i take a sample of human skin on an image and give a different image the extact same skin, i know you can replace the colour, andr HSL, but the skin never looks like the skin does on the other image, you dont get the shaes and blemishes etc.
If i cut out a sample of the skin and overlay it on the image, again this just seems to lightnen the image.  Is there some kind of plugin that will sample the skin on an image and strech it onto another image and hence give some image the extact same skin as from where the skin sample was taken?
Say i wanted to give nicole kidman, britney spears face skin what most advanced, realistic way of doing this, without just trying to matching one colour and replace the whole skin with one colour?
I have a .dxf model and I need the file in .ipt format as a 3d model. (I got the file from a website)

How would you guys do it my last idea is to try the quick mask to try and do it but the colors are so similar i dont think thats the way to go.

The character should be able to move as per the bike's movement, as would happen in real life. The character should react to the suspension of the bike.

Im going on a "lads holiday" in 2 weeks and i have been given the job to create tshirts for the group. I used a shield design base from a video game and i am now creating new silhouettes for the different sections of the shield to reflect the holiday. Ive been trying to make a quad bike silhouette but every time i do it it comes out so badly that you cannot tell what it is actually meant to be.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a picture of a bike frame that I'd like to change to different colours as and when I need to. I've tried the lasso tool but run into problems when I try to do multiple selections. I need to do 3 selections, 2 inside the frame and 1 outiside of the frame. The problem is when I do the outer lasso selection it won't let me do any of the inner ones.

But I still cant acheive the realistic look. I'm better doing faces, but when it comes to the body i can shade well. I use the gaussian blur too much, but I dont know what other techniques i cold use. Code:

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to make a human figure look like it has REAL depth.
If you have ever seen any of Ken Burns documentaries he uses a lot of pictures in his films from the past, but some of the figures or people in these stills appear in depth in such a way that they do not look flat.
Instead when the camera pans the picture they appear to be almost three dimensional inside the still. You can almost see in his stills there is a curvature to the outline of the figure. Their heads and bodies look as if they are inserted into the picture.
I have the removal of the background in the image down well enough but I don't know how to make the figure appear as if it is 3 dimensional in the new background. I wish I had a link to add here of his work as an example.
I know Bruce Beard has the hair and skin tone color swatches, but I could have sworn I've seen palettes for eyes and lips, too. Anyone know of any off-hand?
View 9 Replies View Relatedcreating futuristic metallic skins.....? If any of you have seen VTC advanced photoshop course by Jayse then you know what I am on about. He creates metalic looking skin using curves, displacement maps, curves etc...but on his last "15 - Nicole Face" lesson there are steps which are skipped....
My question is does anyone know how he adjusts the curves to create highlights on the images (One looks like he has played around with the curves and animated it...I don't know how he has done this).
I've been using Maya's HumanIK function for my model for a game I'm building. I began doing some animation, but I'm running into multiple problems. I've noticed for a while now that moving the IK handles with values from the channel box is a complete waste of time. It is unresponsive to the Channel Box numbers and how I can make it so it is. The only way to make the IKs move is to move or rotate them directly on the model with the basic manipulator tools.
Not only that, but did the animation, which for now is an idle breathing stance, between frames the animation moves on its own, beyond the scope of what I told it to move, even when its between two of the exact same frames. I haven't animated in a while, so I can't remember how I used to fix this, but since I know a bit more about animation now, I dabbled into my Graph Editor. Moving the curves have no effect on the animation either and I can't change the tangents nor use the smoothing handles.
The closest thing I found was something saying to change my Animation Settings in the Preferences to make the HIK curve default to Independent Euler-Angle curves, but that doesn't seem to work either.
imagine you have a HumanIK character and a vehicle like motorbike or similar, and you want the character to drive the vehicle. Ok then: Parent the reference node (your_character_name:Reference) into your vehicle root. Ok, works fine but now you need to constrain or parent the control of the hands to the handlebar. With maya constrains not work fine and don't know why.
How i do? i need to create a Auxiliary Node in the Character Controls?
i'm trying to plend a face (happens to be Justin Timberlake) into the face of a snake, I have the selection matched up and have the layer mask so i could erase the extra. The main problem I am having is the difficulty of getting the colors and textures right, the actual blending the face in part.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen you try to select a human face (and maybe body) from a complicated background then seperate it. You'd end up with this face having small parts coming off its edges (ends). You might try to use the eraser to some extent. Still the face or body will not look smooth. How to smooth it?

I've found lots of instructions and tutorials that deal with fiery or glowing text, but I've not found anything along the lines of this image.
I have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
i got for a project some files (in the pic below) wich i actually can use for an 3D model ( geodate's). Problem is, i dont know how i can use/open them to generate an 3D Model. How to figure out which programm I can use this files or how i can use them in AutoCAD?

create a 3D model using a .dxf file?
.dxf file contains 3D contour lines.
when importing it to Autocad 3D 2013 is shown as a colum instead of a 3D model.
I have a 3D model that consists of a large number of "small" objects that i created earlier in separate files. The problem is that now my model is 50Mb and I am having trouble working with it. Is there a way of reducing size, or is there any other solution that would not change the geometry of my model?
Working with Intel Quad Core, 6Gb of ram and ATI Radeon HD3800.
Nearly all our drawings are done in model space with a black screen and my "Drawing Window colors|2D model space" dialogue box shows that scheme.
I have just opened a file done by one of our (recently no longer employed by us) draghtsmen and it has a grey background and when I go to the dialogue box it shows as 3D parallel projection.
I have modified the colours of the 3D parallel projection to give me what I want but I would prefer to know how to get the file back to 2D model space. The fact this guy managed it on one file suggest that there may be others lurking. How did he do it in the first place. Most of his drawings are displaying how I want them to.
I am a game coder/artist using 3ds Max. To date, I have used very simplistic methods of making character skins. I need to step it up a notch and start making more realistic (human) skin textures for humans models in this game I'm working on.
I have been searching the web for several days on this topic and finding little luck. Here are the problems I am encountering:
1. Most skin tutorials for cgi I've found are for high-res, pre-rendered images in Max or Maya ,and not for games. They use several shaders and bump maps and complex multi-texturing that I cannot use in a game.
2. I found one fairly decent skin making tutorial but it used a clouds effect that really only works for light-skinned characters. I tried to modify for darker skin characters and it looks really bad.
3. In general, I have not found much for this at all on the web.
