AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Retrieving Block Name Of Anonymous Block

When dynamic blocks are inserted they're assigned an anonymous block name.  I'd like to be able to retrieve the name of the parent block after selecting the block on screen using AutoLisp.

Need a bit of code that handles this?

AutoCAD .NET :: Creating Anonymous Block With Attributes

Apr 10, 2012

I'm trying to create blocks on the fly by drawing a polyline, using a jig, and then grabbing that polyline and creating a block from it.

I'm not interested in block names, so anonymous blocks seem to be the way to go. I've successfully managed to create the block and even add attributes to it. However, if I try and use battman or attsync AutoCAD tells me that "This drawing contains no attributed blocks." I can however double-click on the block and go to the enhanced attribute editor, which shows me the attributes with the tags I've given them. Exploding the block reveals that there is no nesting occuring.

My attributes seem to be stck in limbo...

The function that creates the stand is:

{ Transaction trans = ed.Document.TransactionManager.StartOpenCloseTransaction(); try { //create new instance of the polyline jig polylineJig.polylineJig plJig = new polylineJig.polylineJig(); promptStatusResult = plJig.newJig(); if

AutoCAD .NET :: Getting Anonymous Blocks Name?

Jan 8, 2007

I have a drawing containing simple blocks and "compound" blocks (blocks composed by smaller blocks). I prompt the user to select a block. If the block is a simple one, I simply show its name. Otherwise, I have to get the names of its sub-blocks and show them to the user.

When I thought I got it, I saw that when exploding some compound blocks (using Entity.explode()), some of the entities returned are anonymous blocks (*U80, *U67, ...). The problem is that this anonymous blocks are not dynamic blocks (BlockReference.IsDynamic() = false), so I can't get their name accessing to its DynamicBlockTableRecord.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Replace Dynamic Blocks With New Ones - Anonymous Names Are Created

Jan 19, 2012

I recently updated our CAD Library to dynamic blocks. In the process of updating our drawings, we realized that we could not use BLOCKREPLACE to replace dynamic blocks with another dynamic block (with new name) once the dynamic element has been changed. I realize that this changes the state of the block and anonymous block names are created.

I need a simple solution so that members of my group can easily replace dynamic blocks with new dynamic blocks.

AutoCAD LT :: Can't Install True View 2013

Jul 27, 2012

The Architect posted a drawing that I must print in 2012 format (she forgot to save to 2004).  I have tried 6 machines in our office this morning, attempting to get True View 2013 to run.  The exact same error problem that plagued my attempts to use True View 2012 are occurring.  True View says .NET 4.0 isn't installed.  The problem is, that it is installed and running correctly.  In two of the machines I went through the repair process of .NET 4.0 to see if there was a problem.  There wasn't, no change; True View still errored out before installing.  Is this a problem with buggy software?  Are there any other options open to me?  I don't know why they stopped updating True Convert.  It was far superior and not full of programming/install bugs.

AutoCAD .NET :: Previewing DWG Viewer Other Than DWG True View

Mar 20, 2013

I'm working with AutoCAD 2012 x64 and I need a control to view DWG files selected in my ListView. I tried using DWG True View 2013 and it worked well, but this is more than my requirement. My requirement is to simply show a preview of the drawing. But DWGTrue View is an advance control and is not standalone i.e. Users have to download and install its full installer.

This might require some customization to code in order to fix TOP View and do a Zoom Extent: Currently not succeeded.

I also seek using DWGThumnailviewer.ocx referenced in this post but unfortunately, I couldn't find DWGThumnailViewer.ocx with AutoCAD 2012. I guess it was discontinued.

Other option could be to generate a raster graphic file (*.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.bmp) and display that into a picture box. I tried some code from this thread and this one  but at  some small dwg files, it is unable to read bytes.

AutoCad :: DWG True View 2013 - Exporting To PDF Or DWF

Feb 21, 2013

I am trying to create a pdf file from a dwg file, using DWG True View 2013. I am NOT a CAD user, so all of the terms are new to me. I read that sometimes it's better to convert the DWG to DWF first and then convert it to PDF. So, I tried 'export' to DWF after trying 'export' to PDF. In both cases, after pressing SAVE, I tried to find the new file and couldn't. Basically, I am trying to print out a DWG file (that is in color), so when I print the DWG directly, you can't see the lines very well. That's why I'm trying to convert it to a pdf first.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Grading Contours Not True To Slope Values?

I am creating some simple grading objects from feature lines.  I am targeting my existing ground surface with a 2:1 fill slope.  My resulting surface shows me 5' contours, which I think should all be spaced out at constant 10' offsets, but they are not.  When I measure the offsets I get different values ranging on 10.2' to 9.7' (depending on the section of the feature line I am looking at). How to make the slope build properly with a true 2:1 offset between contours?  What good does this grading tool do if you can't get a properly constructed slope?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Black And White Printing While Using True Colors

Feb 3, 2012

How can I print in black and white while using true colors? I've tried the monochrome ctb, monochrome stb, looking for solutions in these forums, etc. The std 255 colors are not a problem. It is only when I use a true color. When I tried the monochrome stb setting, the fill color on my multileaders did not change.

Also, in paperspace, with viewports that had solid objects in them, I used to be able to print and have hidden lines removed without them showing up that way in the viewport. (used 2008 at the time and have jumped from that to 2012)

I seem to remember that the was a variable command that controlled this but I can't remember it.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Sedimentary Data - Creating True Surface / Gaps And All

Dec 11, 2012

I have received some sedimentary data of a seabed. I also have other geological layers the sit beneath (all in XYZ format). I have created point clouds using this data and would like to create a surface in order to use the elevational banding to represent thickness. Here lies the problem.

When creating a surface from the point cloud (whole extent), C3D seems to fill in gaps in the data. Is there a way that C3D can create a true representation without all the lines joining parts up? I know that I can edit the surface by deleting lines but this is very time consuming and I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do this. This problem isn't exclusive to point clouds either, as it does the same when adding points to a new surface.

I have attached a couple of screenshots. The first shows a Point Cloud with colours showing the desired effect. Unfortunately C3D doesn't allow me to print this. The second image shows how the surface looks when created.

AutoCAD Inventor :: True Type Font Displays Incorrectly After Publishing To DWF

Jun 10, 2010

Last week I installed a new True Type Font in Windows, so that our drawing title blocks comply to our company standards. I noticed that when checked in into the Vault, the title block containing the new font doesn't display correctly. It shows the new font, but it's distorted; it's bigger, and the letters are too close to eachother. When printing from the Vault, this doesn't change, it's exactly what Vault shows. (See attachments). Also when publishing from within Inventor (File --> Export --> Export to DWF) the font gets distorted.

Posted this message in the Vault-forum, but according to Autodesk it's an Inventor related issue.

Our non-Cad-people are complaining about this, because it's non-compliant to our standards... How can I correct this matter?
