Having trouble with AutoCAD 2012 when saving to earlier versions? I can't save it down to any other version except for 2012, without the system crashing completely. It seems to be files that have aerial xrefs in them.
Also, from time to time we get the crash when editing MText.
I am using Autocad LT 2012 on Windows XP at my office computer. I Save a file in an earlier version e.g. 2004 or 2007 and email to home computer, Autocad LT 2008 on Windows Vista. The file will not open. Message is that the file has been created by a later version. THis has not been my experience with earlier versions.

I have to save 2011 drawing down to autocad 2004. I sure hope its possible. It always has been with earlier versions.
using AutoCAD '10. I have a free trial of 2013 to preview before buying and I'm doing some freelance work with an opportunity to be hired full time. The comany I am working for has a pen set that they sent to me in an e-mail. In order to send PDF's of my work back I must use this pen set. The pen files are from an earlier version of AutoCAD- 2007 and are attachments in an e-mail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Revit MEP 2012 and created a small guest house in this program. I wanted to add some features using Revit Architecture 2011that are not available in the MEP program. When I tried to bring the files up in the Revit architecture program I get an error message that the drawing was created in a later version of Revit. Is there any way to save the MEP file back to an earlier version of Revit like one could do with Autocad drawings?

I understand that people need to be pushed to get newer products, however by not having an easy way to change a file, it really punishes those who do stay current and get each release. For many years now I find myself drafing in a current release of Civil3d to utilize the latest features that improve work flow, then having to waste a lot of time converting projects back to each clients file requirement.

I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot save my previous files created on a student version to an upgraded 2014 version. I tried changing the save as path in the options menu, but no luck. I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.

I was previously working on 5 but when I pull items off of our server that were saved from my computer in version 5 it pops up a quick preview and then "Corel draw has stopped unexpectedly" However I can't just work from 5 because that's the reason why we upgraded my system to begin with. It was crashing out every 10 minutes (literally)
There's obviously a glitch here and it's starting to overwhelm me. We're on deadlines and I can't have my system crashing out. I need to be productive!

Typically it won't crash if I have only one drawing file open and then save and close. With more than one file open the system crashes regularly on both computers. Our service pack updates are current.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a MacBook Pro, OSx 10.6.8. Using CS6 on .tifs, resizing the file to 600px wide - approx. 750k file - try to save for web, 80 percent quality and I get the folder screen, but it's open to "documents". Then I get spinning beachball, then CS crashes. Shuts down.
I've tried restarting, no luck. I've had this happen before and I don't remember how it got worked out. I perform this function all the time and there's nothing new in my workflow. I read in another thread about metatag conflicts, and I do process the raws in Capture One before retouching in CS6, but I've done that before without any problem.
All of the work I did and saved in AI for the past several days is gone. When I try to create a new file AI will not save any changes and crashes. I've been using CC for 9 months and it has worked great. Over the past two weeks I have had a couple of AI files that have lost everything and AI is having a problem saving anything. What do I do? View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to take a 3" sq 11 gauge tube that will have a pie shaped cut out of the tube leaving only one wall remaining. The tube then will be bent until the two sections are mated and welded. The tube is going to be processed on a tube laser to have the features cut out.
The problem is when I bend the tube in inventor I need a straight version of the tube for cad/cam programming and fabrication and not have it affect the bend feature that is placed in the weldment. I do no want to derive a part and save a separate version in the vault. I would like it all to be in one model.
I try to create a view representation and name it "straight" and suppress the bend feature in the new representation but it changes in both representations of the part.
Is there a way to have two different view representations of the part (suppressed bend feature, unsuppressed bend feature) that I can switch between?
My AutoCAD 2013 crashed and as a result the recovered file was saved in 2013 format, instead of my automatic save profile option version set to AutoCAD 2000.
As we have other users in the office without AutoCAD 2013, how do i change the default crash save to a newer version (ie. AutoCAD 2000)?
Recently my photoshop CS5 has been playing up and often when I try to save files it will freeze at the point of clicking ok and crash. Today also it crashed when I tried to open a photoshop file.This is incredibly frustrating as I'm a graphic designer and trying to complete some urgent work but I'm getting nowhere because nothing I'm doing is saving and I have to keep starting over. It's literally crashed about 40 times the past day and I'm wasting so many hours that I just don't have.
My version as mentioned is CS5 and I updated it yesterday with no avail.

I don't think I've done anything for this to start happening it just came out of nowhere..I usually only do the same few things with the program and also havn't altered files or even the computer.
trying to save PNGs. I have had it happen six times now and again after a restart of my computer. It is weird, it saves JPEG and PSD without issue but PNG's are crashing it.
I am using Photoshop CC with all updates.
Computer is a i7 3820 with 64gig RAM and a GTX 560

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to use the blob brush for the first time, but I can't seem to save my files; the programs crashes on save.
Seems very strange! I am working with CS 5 on Windows 7. i have successfully saved files that don't use the blob brush. I haven't done an exhaustive investigation into similar scenarios that might also cause a crash at save. I tested a few stable files, including renaming them. When I introduce the blob brush, the file crashes at save.

How do I export and import preferences? I need to trash them often because PS is crashing when I try and print. Suport only gave me this instruction and couldn;t figure out a solution - just trash my prefs.
