I know Autocad can be set to always save to a particular version number, but can it be set so it always saves back to whichever format the drawing loaded was originally? If I load a 2004, it saves as 2004. If I load 2007, it saves as 2007, etc?

I was trying to do a quick project, and to learn a whole new set up. I'm appalled to find that my program's been changed without giving me any choice in the matter, and then having to sign up on a list serve to fix the problem. Why not set up a forum, where we can subscribe to just the thread that's relevant to us?
I have a question about etransmitting. I etransmitted a file, including the font files, as a zip file. I extracted the files and opened the dwg file. The zip file contains the shx file I need, but it is not loaded in my drawing. I was under the impression that extracting an etransmitted zip file automatically loaded the font files into the drawing. Is this wrong? Does the recipient of the etransmitted file have to add the path of the font shx file in Options?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI never do any in depth changes to my cui. It won't load ribbons or panels because it claims that my cui file is removed, renamed, or missing. It is not, I can specify it in the AutoCAD options (the second picture link). But when I type in cui, It gives me the error message (the first picture link). I've restarted and it does nothing. I've verified that the acad.cuix file is there... and it is (aka not removed, renamed, or missing so the error is bogus) The only strange thing I found though was that when I do a cui load, I can browse to the file, select it, but when I click to load, nothing happens. No hourglass cursor, no hiccup, not anything. If I repeat the same process with a different cui file, it works as it should. URLs...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working in a drawing that was my coworkers baby, but she went on vacation. It has a font style called "HOLLOW" that references a font name called "SWISS742C.shx". That .shx file was not in any of my Support File Search Path directories, so I found the folder that contained that .shx file on our network drive and referenced it in Options > Files > Support File Search Path. Everything I googled said that is what I should do.
However, the "SWISS742C.shx" file still does not show up in my styles dialog box under font name. I have regened, quit autocad and reopened, and I cannot find it.
My Ribbon is blank and says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded."
I have tried "reseting" my CUI acad.cuix file and restoring it and it won't work -- I heard that was the golden ticket to my problem; however, my ribbon still says it doesn't have tabs or panels loaded...I've tried restarting AutoCad and then reseting my main cuix file as well.
My Autocad MAP 2011 keeps crashing every time it does an automatic save.

I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.

I have deleted most old files from the "temp" folder thinking it may be full but the save function is still not working. Sometimes drawings do get saved but only at random intervals and definitely not every 10 minutes.

In the same way I am looking the drawings (for both assy and parts) needs to be created and 'save as' to different locations. These newly generated drawings should have links to newly created parts/assembly.
I am able to 'save as' the master drawings to different locations but these newly created drawings still has links to master assembly/parts.
We have a Custom CUI Enterprise file that we load in the profile settings (AutoCAD 2008). I transferred it though the CUI Editor and saved it for AutoCAD 2012. When I load it into AutoCAD 2012, the pull down custom pull down menu does not show, with or without the menu bar turned on. I have some partial CUI files that I did the same way. When I load them, and list them in the Main CUI file as such, they show up as expected. I even tried to list the Custom CUI Enterprise file in the same manor, but I get a "read only" type message and it still doesn't show the pull down.
I also thought about transferring it to another CUI file to partial load and not have a Custom CUI Enterprise file.
AutoCAD 2012 / Inventor 2012
I have my automatic save turned on and set to 10 mins. I can visual see Civil automatically saving (as I have to wait a few seconds for the process) but it is not creating the temporary files.
I used to work fine, and I can see the last file that was created - a couple of weeks ago, but now it has just decided to stop creating these temporary files.It really makes this option useless if there is no temp file to get my lost information from when I crash.
We have specialized electrical schematic drawings on what is termed roll-drawings. These roll-drawings are simply 12" tall and variable width type drawings. We've had some as short as 24 inches and as long as 900 inches. As a result we use these section dimensions to distinguish circuit boundaries. It's not a real dimension, just a way to distinguish what circuit is located where. I've tried to recreate it using a block for improved automation as currently we just use a lisp routine that draws an arrow and lines. It looks like the screen capture of my block below. Is it possible to have the inside endpoints of the lines automatically stretch outwardly toward the arrows as the attribute Value changs?

I'm setting all sensors (personal block) on a second layer and data concentrator on third layer (personal block)
What i want and it's possible ?
-> I have data concentrator. Each data concentrator can manage 15 sensors.
Can i write a script or tool in autocad to draw automatically lines between sensors and dataconcentrator to have the lowest cable distance taking into account possible way on existing cable path ? I have criteria : All sensors need to be connected, lowest cable distance and 15 sensors needs to be connected to dataconcentrator.
How i can do this ?
Some my .psd files (CS6 Photoshop, MAC OSX 10.7.5, Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7) automatically resize to a percentage. I can't figure out what the cause is, and it will not allow me to change it back to 100% to slice out images for web.
File Type is .psd - RGB 8 bit/color
Fie Dimensions are 1400px by 10,800px.
File Size is 60MB
The file is extremely slow to open and adjust anything within the file as well, not sure if the issue is related. I am working off of my desktop not off of a server.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need Photoshop to save my files with automatic consecutive numbering.I have lots of image files with several photos and/or negatives scanned in each image file. I need to individually select every photo or negative to be able to cut and paste in a new file and then saving every pasted photo/negative in a separate image file.
Now, I have automated the cut and paste process, and also recorded some effects with Actions, but when I come to saving the files I always get prompted to enter a file name no matter if I record the save as "Save" or "Save as".
Is it possible to make Photoshop saving each file automatically with an automatically assigned number? Example: Photo0003.tif, and the next file Photo0004.tif, and so forth. Just so I won't need to enter a file name manually each time?
Saving by Batch processing is not a solution since every file I open have to be divided into like 12 new separate files and saved with different names.I use both CS2, CS5 and could sit with another machine with CS6 if thats whats needed for the job.
Having trouble with AutoCAD 2012 when saving to earlier versions? I can't save it down to any other version except for 2012, without the system crashing completely. It seems to be files that have aerial xrefs in them.
Also, from time to time we get the crash when editing MText.
I am using Autocad LT 2012 on Windows XP at my office computer. I Save a file in an earlier version e.g. 2004 or 2007 and email to home computer, Autocad LT 2008 on Windows Vista. The file will not open. Message is that the file has been created by a later version. THis has not been my experience with earlier versions.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to take a 3" sq 11 gauge tube that will have a pie shaped cut out of the tube leaving only one wall remaining. The tube then will be bent until the two sections are mated and welded. The tube is going to be processed on a tube laser to have the features cut out.
The problem is when I bend the tube in inventor I need a straight version of the tube for cad/cam programming and fabrication and not have it affect the bend feature that is placed in the weldment. I do no want to derive a part and save a separate version in the vault. I would like it all to be in one model.
I try to create a view representation and name it "straight" and suppress the bend feature in the new representation but it changes in both representations of the part.
Is there a way to have two different view representations of the part (suppressed bend feature, unsuppressed bend feature) that I can switch between?
My AutoCAD 2013 crashed and as a result the recovered file was saved in 2013 format, instead of my automatic save profile option version set to AutoCAD 2000.
As we have other users in the office without AutoCAD 2013, how do i change the default crash save to a newer version (ie. AutoCAD 2000)?

- Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit
- ACAD2011 with 1.1
- Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS (not a supported graphic card from what I know)

Since we got that out of the way let's get to it.
A week ago I was told that a lot of times the PC's freeze when you try to "Save", "Save as" or "Open" a file (we open/save on a network drive). If that happens we have to restart the PC and hope it doesn't happen again, but since this happens quite a lot (over the course of four days about 27 times on 7 PC's) I tried to fix this.
I installed the patch, updated the drivers for the graphic card and reinstalled NET Framework 4. The problem didn't occur as often but it still happened sometimes.
I have a tif background that shows up in my pdf plot preview, but it will not actually print. All I get is a pdf showing the linework. I've recently switched from 2008 to 2010 and am wondering if that has anything to do with it as I had no problems in the past? While the tif file is large, it always plotted in 2008.
