How do I export and import preferences? I need to trash them often because PS is crashing when I try and print. Suport only gave me this instruction and couldn;t figure out a solution - just trash my prefs.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on my design for a project (book) and I want to export a typography into Photoshop to give it more effects, work with a textured background, etc. I was wondering if I export it as a PSD file I'll be able to keep the printing quality, since printing text from Photoshop comes out pixelated. Also, would I have to re-open it in Illustrator again after I'm done with Photoshop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to save my work in PSE 9 it crashes every time. I've removed preferences by pressing shift, control, option after launching the program. The window came up if I wanted to remove preference I clicked yes. Restarted my computer and relaunched PSE9 still crashes.
I've also removed the twain plug in this way: Program FilesAdobePhotoshop Elements 9Locales<locale>Plug-InsImport-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
I dragged it twice to my desktop but the file still seemed to remain in place (even though I had 2 new copies on my desk top), so the third time I did it, I clicked it and moved it to trash. Again, I restarted my computer and relaunched PSE9 and it still crashes when trying to save.
We installed a new printer. Works fine with all apps except for PS 13.0.4 mac.
I've reinstalled the printer driver ( current driver etc), restarted etc. PS doesn't seem to hold the default paper sizes and will not print to the new printer ( it will print to another printer on same network).
Any prefs specific to printers with Photoshop that I can trash? and hopefully not have to trash all prefs.

I am preparing to install a new hard drive in my computer and I don't want to lose all of my preferences. How can I save these to reload after the install? I am using Adobe CS4 Extended v. 11.0.2 on a WIN XP Pro sp3 machine.
Also, will my preferences carry over to Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium?
P.S. My current hard drive has suffered two crashes already so I'm hoping to get the hard drive switched over as soon as it arrives (next day or 2).
Each time I open Photoshop, I load an image and use my scroll wheel to zoom and I have to go back and re-do my preferences. No preferences are ever saved.

You can save so many tpersonal settings in CS6 and earlier versions, but you cannot save personalized preferences. Every crash requires tedious rebuilding ones personal preferences.Why can't we save our preferences?

I just had to reinstall after a wipe of my Mac. Program opens, I can use it, but when I quit it I get this message: Could not save preferences because the file is locked or you do no have the necessary privilieges. Use the "get info" command in the Finder to unlock or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders.
I went into Applications, right clicked on the CS5 icon, which brought up the "get Info" box. At the bottom, under Sharing & Permissions it says I have custome access; Me: read & write

On the "everyone" the only choices I have are read only, write only or no access.
I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of my users has modified the application options, (switched of grid lines, and minor grid lines), applied them, and worked on his project. When he exits Inventor, and re-starts it, the application options go back to basic default, (i.e. Grid and minor grid lines appear). I've checked the Read/Write permissions of The Program files folder, the program files x86 folder, and the path in his my documents folder, and all are OK.
I exported the application options, after tweaking them, and if I import that exported file, everything does as we expect, i.e. grid and minor grid lines are switched off.
I'm taking the Basics training coarse and while doing exercises something changed in my Open and Save preferences. As far as I know I didn't do anything to make the change. It used to be when I clicked on the "Open File" button a window with a visual tree would open on screen and I could visually go through my files, opening sub folders until I found the file I wanted. The "save" and "save as" buttons worked the same.
Now, instead of the window with visual map, I get a command line where I'm asked to type in the destination and name of the file.
I can not get panels and preferences to save using Illustrator CS6 on a MacBook Pro. When I close out of AI the settings/preferences don't stay.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn a MacBook Pro, OSx 10.6.8. Using CS6 on .tifs, resizing the file to 600px wide - approx. 750k file - try to save for web, 80 percent quality and I get the folder screen, but it's open to "documents". Then I get spinning beachball, then CS crashes. Shuts down.
I've tried restarting, no luck. I've had this happen before and I don't remember how it got worked out. I perform this function all the time and there's nothing new in my workflow. I read in another thread about metatag conflicts, and I do process the raws in Capture One before retouching in CS6, but I've done that before without any problem.
I've deleted the settings file, and restarted my computer but it still is crashing when I try to save anything.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently my photoshop CS5 has been playing up and often when I try to save files it will freeze at the point of clicking ok and crash. Today also it crashed when I tried to open a photoshop file.This is incredibly frustrating as I'm a graphic designer and trying to complete some urgent work but I'm getting nowhere because nothing I'm doing is saving and I have to keep starting over. It's literally crashed about 40 times the past day and I'm wasting so many hours that I just don't have.
My version as mentioned is CS5 and I updated it yesterday with no avail.

I don't think I've done anything for this to start happening it just came out of nowhere..I usually only do the same few things with the program and also havn't altered files or even the computer.
trying to save PNGs. I have had it happen six times now and again after a restart of my computer. It is weird, it saves JPEG and PSD without issue but PNG's are crashing it.
I am using Photoshop CC with all updates.

All of the work I did and saved in AI for the past several days is gone. When I try to create a new file AI will not save any changes and crashes. I've been using CC for 9 months and it has worked great. Over the past two weeks I have had a couple of AI files that have lost everything and AI is having a problem saving anything. What do I do?
