The boundary command will not work on solid objects from a top view as it does with Acad created objects. Also, I cannot dimension any rounded surfaces because they are splines. Are there any workarounds to these issues?

I've installed all of my drivers and everything is up to date, but when I click on ray tracing it starts to do it for a couple of seconds then just disables. After that first try whenever I click the button it simply wont enable.

I sucks big time when your modeling and you use it constantly while drawing on different axises.
Possible to view the control points of a 2d or 3d object. I know that we can view the control points for spline objects, but is it possible to view the control points also for every other object i draw?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you edit a section view sketch you can project model edges in the sketch and use them to constrain the section view line. However I cannot seem to project an included workplane to the sketch. For a particular application I really need to use a workplane because the model is actually a dummy that gets replaced by a vb macro. So any projected model edges will loose their reference.
I found out that I could use a sketch in the model to create the section view. In a model sketch it is possible to project work planes, so this looks like a good solution. However I do prefer the flexibility that you have when you use a drawing sketch.
How to use a work plane to constrain a section view, other then the model sketch method explained above.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this problem with my drawing. before I decided to post here, I first ask mr. google about the problem but to no avail. anyway, here's my problem:
I have this drawing. 3d object. with multiple items. and would like to create a 2d detailed view of the items.
what i did was isolate the first item and did the base view command. after the command, I then hid the first item and isolate again the second item. but then I always get this pop-up menu that says "A model has changed" and my item is missing. I ignored the warning and poceeded with my second model and so, on. after the process I unisolated all my items and most of the drawings are there and some are lost. Is there a proper way of doing this base view for multiple objects without disrupting the previous drawing that I objects?
I ‘ve put some blocks (Cone penetration test) in a profile view. Then I created view frames and sheets. I tried to insert those blocks into the sheets with the 'Project objects to profile view' command. I get the message: “There are 10 objects outside the Profile view's station range and will therefore be ignored.”

I have created a profile. I have my surfaces, projected other surfaces onto it, looks good. So then, I want to do some simple drawing on my profile. Everything looks good in model space. Create a viewport for the profile and things(basic linework) appear in a different location than where I drew them. I figure I need to project an object to make it work because they are associated.
So I draw my simple arc ( arch culvert) with footings and block it. great its where i want it and its a block. Gave it the appropriate elevation when creating the block. go through the project objects and it added. But now its added it in a different spot.
When I select an object to view in my profile, all I get is "0 objects selected". I have tried selecting several objects in plan top view, but get "0 selected". What is the "simple" solution that I am overlooking?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set one station equation in my alignment and it displays correctly in horizontal view and in profile. But stations of projected objects after that equation are not correct in projected object label. It displays station values as it would be without station equation. If i manually insert profile view label for that point it is correct.
As you can see in attached image green station value (that one is label for projected points) is wrong because it does not take equation into calculation. How to make projected objects labels to consider station equation?
While I'm in the "selection" mode - and it doesn't matter whether I'm preselecting objects or selecting them under some command - I pick the starting point of selection window and then I pan to another side of the drawing and there I pick the point to close the selection window.
Result: all the objects that I left behind while panning to the other side of the drawing, go out of the selection, so only those objects in the final viewing area stay selected - and it's not what I want... I want to keep all the objects under selection - including the ones that were panned out from the viewing area... I hope you understand what I'm trying to describe here....
I'm quite sure that this worked fine in previous versions, so I'm also pretty sure that there must be an option or parameter that controls my issue - I just can't seem to fint it...
When using the model documentation in autocad 2013 is it possible to select certain objects in a projected view and still have them show up in the base (parent) view? Another way to put it; can I isolate objects in one projected view only?
Is there a good place to go to read post from people that are using this new feature for production or some in-depth tutorials?
What type of objects can be projected into a profile view? I know that points, feature lines, and multiview blocks can be projected with variable results. I can't even find a simple list within Civil 3D's.

I love annotative scaling of objects it is a great feature. I am however having one problem that I'm not sure if I've missed a setting or something. Is there a way to prevent civil 3d from scaling your annotative objects based on the view scale you are looking at? For example if I zoom out (in model space or max viewport) to show my entire drawing and regen, civil 3d scales all my text and blocks to an enomous scale esentially blocking my entire drawing with solid colour. also if I zoom into a small area to do some detail work all my text becomes microscopic and unuseable. This makes adjusting text so it doesn;t overlap other text very difficult if it never appears at the correct size. Is there a way to freeze annotative objects at thier correct scale (for the current viewport scale) so they dont scale simply because you zoom in or out on a drawing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Section View the material region is filled with a solid hatch, this obscures other objects such as the bounding surfaces and labeling.
For some reason the material hatch is always on top in the display order Manually forcing it to the back in the display order is possible. This is not a reasonable solution due to the time involved and repetition.Transparency allows the objects beneath to be visible but their tool tips are not functioning due to the overlap. The same would apply to using something other than a solid hatch.
The primary concerns are:

I am having trouble moving an object a certain distance. The distance is defined by a pre-defined variable. I just can't figure out the syntax for the autolisp command.
Here is the bit of code if written, there is more code not shared here that defines the points for the polyline .
;-- the varaible box_height is defined earlier in the routine
;-- Draw the polyline for the top of the cabinet
(command "pline" p1tt P2tt P3tt P4tt P5tt P6tt P7tt P8tt "c")
;-- Assign the new part a variable name
(setq cab_toppl (entlast))
;-- Extrude the polyline to make the top of the cabinet
(command "extrude" cab_toppl "" cab_intw "0")
;-- Assign the new part a variable name
(setq cab_top (entlast))
;-- Rotate the top of the cabinet down to the floor of cabinet
(command "rotate3d" cab_top "" 2 p1tt p2tt 90)
;-- Move the top of the cabinet to the final location
;-- HERE IS THE PART I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH. ESSENTIALLY ONCE THE PART IS CREATED I'VE NAMED IT CAB_TOP AND AM NOW TRYING TO MOVE IT IN THE Z AXIS THE DISTANCE DEFINED BY THE VARIABLE BOX_HEIGHT WITHOUT USER INPUT
(command "move" cab_top "" "0,0,0" (list (0 0 (box_height) "")
;--THIS PART IS OKAY
(setvar "CLAYER" oldlayer) ;restore active layer
(setvar "BLIPMODE" 1)
(setvar "OSMODE" 135)

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a map of our primary lines in an ESRI .shp file, that superimposes nicely on our other shape files, for shoreline and rivers and everything else, that works fine. As part of some project planning I'm doing, I'm making a series of layouts, each taking a snapshot of an area, with a revision cloud around the lines we're planning to replace.
I loaded the map up this morning and everything was as I saved it, but as I was creating a new layout and zooming to the correct region in my view port, every single revision cloud I drew disappeared. As did all the annotations and other labels I'd made - absolutely everything that isn't from a database just up and vanished.
I've turned off all the database links, there's nothing covering them up, I had none of them selected and used no delete commands, all I did was create a new layout via copy and adjust the viewport on it, they're just gone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn any image type, psd, jpg etc, the rotate view tool does not work. I've looked at several other threads but none seem exactly to match this symptom on a Windows machine. The hand tool works fine. OpenGL is enabled. All other tools as far as I can tell work fine but when I try to invoke the rotate view, I get the error message: "could not complete your request because of a program error". Just installed Wacom Intuos4 if that has anything to do with it but the control does not work from either regular mouse, Wacom mouse or the new touch ring on Wacom. Not the end of the world if this functionality is inoperable, but it's supposed to be there so I'd like to have it. Hopefully it's just some setting somewhere for me that I'm unaware of.
