I am running Photoshop CS6 and cannot get the 3D elements to work? I have followed the available tutorial on the Adobe site on how to make 3D type and it doesn't work. It just isn't highlighted as a feature. Does the 3D feature work with vector objects (elements)?
View 6 RepliesI often produce graphics in CorelDRAW, export it as en eps file and insert it inside a MS Word document as an image and finally convert it to pdf. This way my vector graphics (often linedrawings with or without fill) usually is preserved in the final pdf document. I can zoom in and the lines keep on displaying perfectly sharp. This is important, since it easily looks bad when thin lines are turned into bitmaps, even when watched from a distance.
Now, in some graphics I created today, I had a circle with fountain fill and outline (symbolizing a sphere) put behind a filled rectangle, which had a uniform transparency applied to it. In the resulting pdf file, the 'sphere' was turned into bitmap. Inside CorelDRAW everything was vector graphics, but something was loast in the process. what happens with the graphics in the different steps in the process and eventually could explain a workaround to make everything look as vector in the final pdf file.
I was fortunate enough to get the CS6 just now, and I still way prefer working in PS than AI... for simple shapes and text, can PS CS6 save all vector info and export to PDF for the printer? If so, I couldnt find any "Preserve vector" setting in the PDF save window, so is it automatic?
And what is the way to produce shapes/effects in PS so the vector will be saved, can u not just make paths and fill with paint bucket, do u need to make masks?
Basically I would like to do all the work in PS and never touch AI for this type of simple project, but need vector PDF's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt used to be that if one pasted vectors (from AI, for example) onto a new layer of Photoshop as a Smart Object, the vectors could be then edited in Illustrator and after editing, the Photoshop layer used to be automatically updated. Since CS6 however, this automatic update does not occur as expected. In fact, most times it does not occur at all.
When I do have this problem (about 100% of the time I update Smart Objects in AI CS6 now) I have discover that if I select the Smart Object I just edited (but did not update) and then select "Duplicate Layer" from the Layers palette, the layer is NOT duplicated at all BUT the smart object is magically updated instead.
This is how I update Smart Objects now, via this odd method. I have checked the Prefs of both PS and AI to see if there is some option that is turned on (or off) that may be causing this, but I have found nothing related to the updating of Smart Objects behavior there.
Why doesn't the automatic synchronization feature wok in Elements 11? How do I get my money back for the on-line storage?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhile teaching Photoshop in a class of mine, I noticed that in CS6 vector object's colors remain unaffected by the main color controls, and we have to switch to the object selection tool to display the color controls in the properties bar.
Now, this feels very, very disjointed - why would one introduce such a disconnect in the overall user interface? Why not just use the ordinary color controls? I mean, trying to pick up the color from a bitmap layer for a vector object takes five steps now: select object with object selection tool, click on the fill button in the properties bar, click on the color picker, then we can pick up a color from the image, and finally click to confirm. And the color change only gets applied after clicking "okay". No realtime feedback. Have to repeat the last three steps again and again to test for different colors.
The Color swatch palette does not work either with vector objects. Nor the eye dropper tool! Quite a bad workflow, or am I missing something here?
I compare this to Photoline, where the overall color controls govern all types of objects, including vector layers and bitmap layers the same way, and with instant feedback. Photoshop CS6's color picking workflow for vector objects looks extremely convoluted compared.
Has this workflow been improved at all in Photoshop CC?
I am having a strange problem in Photoshop CS 6 (Mac) - Dutch version.
When I paste a vector shape (made in Illustrator) into Photoshop, the Layer styles don't seem to work the way they should.
When I place (CMD+V) the shape into Photoshop I choose "Paste as Pixels".
What I want to do is to multiply an illustration (I made in Illustrator) with a photo structure.
I used to do it all the time in CS5 and never had a problem with it. In CS6 I can't get it work the way I want it to.
Strangely enough it does work the way it should when I use an illustration that I made in Photoshop (same settings).
So it seems that there is a problem when I want to apply layer styles on a vector shape (even when it is paste as pixels).
When we try to open smart objects from within Photoshop CC, they're looking for Illustrator CS6. On machines where Illustrator CS6 is uninstalled we get errors. All the file associations in Bridge are correctly set. Is there a way to change the file associations for smart objects?

Problem: Ps CS6 incorrectly renders vector objects pasted from Adobe Illustrator. CS5.1 does not exhibit the problem.
Below is screenshot of artwork in Illustrator and which is copied to clipboard, followed by screenshot of "Paste as Smart Object" in Ps CS5.1 then screenshot of same paste in CS6. "Paste as Pixels" gives identical good rendering in CS5.1 and poor rendering (gray pixels which should be pure white in this example) in CS6. This is repeatable with other artwork.
Several weeks ago there was a complaint in this forum that Photoshop CS6 poorly renders vector artwork that is pixel-aligned in Illustrator. The Adobe response was that Photoshop is correct. Strange that CS5.1 can render pasted vector artwork perfectly and only CS6 makes a mess.
Has seen that even if a work plane, work axis or other work feature is created during a transaction, the screen will still update? The actual features I create using these work features within the same transaction still work just fine.

What I am seeing is if I put down 1 in in the Y insert and it shows the X and Z are unconstrained. What I am trying to is put on a fixed constraint to one direction which is Y. When I use 1 in for Y, it looks like it is using force of some kind. How this Vector Components work?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIf the 2D layout is updated I need to move featurelines and gradings to the new locations without changing their Z values. It seems OSNAPZ is supposed to serve this purpose but it's not working for me. I have OSNAPZ=1 and ELEV=0 but when I snap a featureline vertex to the 2D linework the vertex ends up at elevation zero. How do I make this work?

the printing press for signboard is looking for an vector of my design there are waiting for me right now. I send them the .eps format. I use pen tool for making different curves and shapes. How can I make it to a vector?

I have LR 5.2 and when I review newly imported images with an impromptu slideshow to rate and flag the image in the slideshow, the relevant "flag as pick" or "set as rejected" notification shows on the screen but at the end of the slideshow only the first image is picked or rejected and the rest remain unchanged.
I have tried the fix that adobe published for 5.0 - changing the ui.dll but that fix prevents LR5.2 from loading alltogether.
Half the time I use TRIM tool vector on top of vector it doesn't work.
I can't seem to figure out why in some cases trim works and in others it simply puts the top object under the bottom one instead of trimming it from the bottom one.
Does same thing in X3 X4 and X5?
I've tried everything from making sure both were filled with solid color - all curves closed, nothing else grouped with them - nothing - sometimes I have to try a couple times doing same thing and it will work, other times not at all - even after trying a save (which sometimes works)
Both top and bottom show on layer one in properties too!
I just started having an issues with the delete feature. When I click on an object and it highlights it--when i hit the delete button, it doesn't delete the object any more. Also i should be able to click on as many object as i want, now it makes me hold the shift key down. And also when I click on an object then pull the layers tab down to assign it to a diffent layer ---it won't change it now.. what do you think is going on with the software and who might I contact to get this problem corrected.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn all my previous programs I have managed to change the default to no fill effect in a vector shape, the default in X6 is a fill effect even though there is no colour so as long as the shape is on top you can click anywhere and it is picked. I can't find where to change this to empty space.
I am sure it must be in front of me but I just can't find it!

In the attached file I tried to reproduce a photo, the right one is the result but the hills are not finished. It is a general perspective principle that the farer objects are more blurred, but I am not sure how to draw that. As a first solution sure could be adding feather them, the most to the farest, but somehow does not like that. T

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've attached an example of a workflow we use to make different instances of products.part1 gets assembled in assembly1 which then gets derived in part2 to receive a bend.We use assembly1 in one place and part2 in another.(this is a simplified example, made with IV2013 SP1.1)
In part1, if you add the thread feature, the "bend part" feature in part2 fails after updating.This also happens if you try to add a "bend part" to part1 AFTER the thread feature, if the bend is present beforehand it does work.
Having the bend before the thread feature in part1 doesn't work with our workflow, because we need the assembly1 to be straight.In short, the thread feature is causing problems with "bend part".
I can't say if this problem was present in previous versions or even in the previous service pack since we don't use this workflow that often, especially with threaded parts, but i hope this can get fixed with a hotfix.

I must have hit a hotkey or something because now when I drag select vector and text and copy paste inside the same document it only pastes unformated text back without any vector.
When I use create outlines on the text it copies fine but if Im just copying everythign together or only the text object I get unformated text back.
How do I select a vector object whose property has been set to invisible? I am using PSP v7.04

First Bug -> In my last contest work I've tried to embed many transparency effects. While I designing my graphic I've used (among many others) a transparency effect that named »Behind« (in my German version of CorelDRAW it's named »Hinter«). I've applied that effect to a texture bitmap graphic and it worked correctly so long the bitmap overlaid a vector shape in an ordinary way. But after I include the bitmap into the vector shape (using the vector shape as a Power Clip) obviously the used transparency effect conflict with the anti aliasing function of the vector shape and the smooth margins of the vector shape turned into rough boarders and the vector shape looked like a bitmap in a poor resolution. I guess it is only an indication error in CorelDRAW but for a designer's eyes this bug is very disturbing and should be corrected by Corel!
Second Bug -> Often I use CorelDRAW for vector illustrations and that's why I have to integrate scanned sketches (JPEG format) to build vector illustrations bases of it. Here we have another indication error or better to say a performance problem of CorelDRAW. While I using the sketch image in extended view mode the zoom function of CorelDRAW works correctly and pleasant fast. But if I switch to simple contour mode the performance of zoom mode of CorelDRAW worsens rapidly. The performance of my computer is not the problem with this because my hardware is on a high level and I use an well arranged and clean Windows 7 operating system. It would be nice if Corel is able to fix that problem because it disturbs the work flow enormous and it minishs the fun that I have while I'm using CorelDRAW!
I'd like to start utilizing Illustrator more frequently for web and user interface design projects, but I still like taking everything into Photoshop for final rendering and compositing (and the simple fact that most developers want psds, not ai files). However, I find that the only way to successfully transfer all of the vector artwork from Illustrator and preserve it as vector objects in Photoshop (when exporting) is to manually convert every individual vector object in Illustrator to a Compound Shape (by selecting the shape and clicking Make Compound Shape from the Pathfinder palette menu). This can be very tedious if it has to be done after the design is complete, and very inefficient if you convert every object as you draw it.
Is there a way to set Illustrator to automatically create every vector object drawn as a Compound Shape without having to manually convert it?
Adobe Illustrator allows you to export your Illustrator document as a Photoshop document. However, Compound Paths (not Compound Shapes - see this article for not-so-great explanations comparing the two) – which is the default attribute applied to all of Illustrator's basic vector objects – do not convert into vector objects when the exported document is opened in Photoshop. Rather, the vector objects drawn in Illustrator get flattened into raster layers in Photoshop, making them poor candidates for refining the design in Photoshop.
Is there away to link a i.e. (a stoop to a finish flood elev)? So that, if I were to raise the finish floor, the stoop would move also. I understand I could possible to a create grading feature line for a stoop, but what happens if the stoop would be irregular shapped and not a rectangle?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen creating Feature Lines, I wanted them to be e.g. Step Line 1, Step Line 2, Step Line 3 etc so I amended the name template to suit. I created multiple from objects and the naming convention worked. If I did features individually (as I wanted certain ones in certain sites) it worked for the first feature but reverted back to the default Feature line name on subsequent entry to the dialog i.e. it had "forgotten" the template name just set.
Am I missing something to get this to work correctly or is this how it's supposed to work i.e. useless for individual feature line creation?? This also happens for gradings.
