View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with some 3d objects that I display with multiple viewports, in paper space, showing different views of the objects. The viewports themselves are all on one layer that is frozen. Each viewport with a 3d object is set with Visual style: Hidden & Shade plot: 3D Hidden, to hide all lines that should not display for that view and creating a nice clean image in each viewport.
Again, viewport layer is frozen so no viewport borders are displayed. The problem I'm having is that I get random viewport border lines that show up on my plot. It can be paper or pdf. and could be top in one viewport and side in another, etc. I have never had this happen before but it seems to be related to hiding 3d line because I have never had a problem when I didn't.
I'm trying to import a drawing from a dwt file into a drawing as a new layout. This would be perfect if the model space objects associated with this dwt file would import as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two objects that I would like to link together in model space. I realize this is easy to do using paper space but I am curious if this can be done in model space.
The two objects are wire connections but they are spaced far apart in my drawing and can be a pain trying to find thier locations all the time. if I could select or click the first connector and be able to pan or zoom to the appropriate connection by link or other means.
Just got the new 2013 version and I'm having this strange problem:
When I open a drawing (that was last saved in Paper Space) and I'm switching to Model Space, my view is not set to "Top" by default. How can I set my view by default to "Top"?
View of when I'm switching from Paper to Model Space:
"Top" View, what I'm supose to view by default...:
I have a drawing in model space the i drew to scale of 1'=1' and I went to paper scape to put the drawing in my title block using Viewports. highlighted the viewport and went to properties to give the drawing a scale so it would maximize the Viewport area, on my 22"x34" paper. but under the standard scale 1/64"=1' is too big and 1/128"=1' is too small. the simple solution is zoom extents but then in my title block i have to put NTS. I would like to add to the standard scale or be able to set the customer scale to a whole number. EX. 1:1000 or 1:150, etc. etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with the view port freeze. When we feeze a layer in the modelspace of a viewport and save the drawing, on re-opening the drawing we find that the layer that was switched off has been switched back on i.e. the saved mechanism does not work.
We have tried copying a view port that works from another drawing into this drawing by that did not work. We have also compared setttings with the drawing that works and the drawing that does not work. But there was no joy.
We think the problem is with the drawing and need a solution preferably with the settings of the drawing. having to redrawing the whole drawing.
When I first draw something on a model space and click the Layout1 tab to see paper space.
The default view port size (the red box) looks like the following.
But I want to maximize the view port size such that (for example) the dotted line to be the defualt view port size in the paper space.
Could I do this by code??
I am currently using ObjectARX 2007 in C#.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using the model documentation in autocad 2013 is it possible to select certain objects in a projected view and still have them show up in the base (parent) view? Another way to put it; can I isolate objects in one projected view only?
Is there a good place to go to read post from people that are using this new feature for production or some in-depth tutorials?
I'm trying to limit the activity inside a paper space's view port. Specifically text and dimension objects (our routines) as these layers inside the view port may be frozen.
How do I pragmatically get out of the view port back into paper space?

I have a sheet drawing with all my background xref'd into it. How do I rotate the view in model space so it will show appropriately in the sheet view in paper space?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a need to find the solution for a viewport issue. Model space, create view, when selected goes to correct view size. When placing same view in layout on paper space the graphics to be viewed are too small & do not fill the paper space viewport.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a map of our primary lines in an ESRI .shp file, that superimposes nicely on our other shape files, for shoreline and rivers and everything else, that works fine. As part of some project planning I'm doing, I'm making a series of layouts, each taking a snapshot of an area, with a revision cloud around the lines we're planning to replace.
I loaded the map up this morning and everything was as I saved it, but as I was creating a new layout and zooming to the correct region in my view port, every single revision cloud I drew disappeared. As did all the annotations and other labels I'd made - absolutely everything that isn't from a database just up and vanished.
I've turned off all the database links, there's nothing covering them up, I had none of them selected and used no delete commands, all I did was create a new layout via copy and adjust the viewport on it, they're just gone.
is there a way to COPY objects from model space to paper space? CHSPACE only "cuts" geometry. I need the same geometry stacked in both model space and paper space.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow it works?, the objects are yellow in model space and white on paper space??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to AutoCAD 2013 and I am unable to create new viewports from the "layout" or "paperspace" tabs. The "Model Viewports" are on the navigation bar (the one at the top) but are grayed out and thus unusable and the typical "Viewports" menu from my AutoCAD 2011 (last version I had/used) is not there. I can open the viewports menu from toolbars but am unable to dock it into the navigation bar.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with multiple view ports and multiple raster images
I can shut the image frames off with "Imageframe" )(tframes) this works fine But it does not turn off the viewport frames.
I've tried putting the viewport on it's own layer and freezing the layer. This looks OK on the screen, the frames are gone. But the plot preview shows there are no images showing in any viewport.
How can I just turn off the viewport frames so when plotting I can see what's in the viewport.
ACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.
CAD-Newbie working in paper space zoomed in close. I want to return to page extents but am zoomed in so close I can't click outside paper space to move view control toolbar to model space. is there a simple key command to perform this function?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have wall section sheets that are best viewed in portrait mode, but use the same landscape page setup as the other sheets in the set. So the viewports for the sections are rotated 90 degrees and difficult to read on the screen. Is it possible to rotate the paper space UCS and rotate the paper space "view" to match the UCS, like you can in model space?
I don't want to rotate the viewports and title blocks themselves & set up a portrait page setup. This is because I'm using Acrobat's PDF maker for batch plotting and not using the same page setup for each sheet makes one click, fire-and-forget publishing impossible. And I don't want to use DWG-to-PDF because it doesn't have any configurable image compression settings that I know of.
If it's not possible, then it's not the end of the world. We have AutoCAD Architecture and AutoCAD LT 2012 & 2013.
Centering the drawing (or viewport) in the lay out, I’m not sure about the best practice to center my drawing in the lay out so that it will be centered as it sis printed from the lay out
This issue is already discussed in the link below
[URL].......
The size of the A4 is 29.7x21The size of by title block is 27x19Then I have like 1 cm margin from top, 1cm and bottom, 1.35 cm from left and 1.35 from rightI managed to have the view port / drawing centered on the A4 layout by setting the “plot offset” to be: X=13.5 and Y=10 using the printer “dwg to pdf.pc3”
It looks fine in the printed pdf, but when it is printed using printer “HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6”, the drawing is not centered on the hard copy A4 paper (attached)
What might be the issue here? Is the approach that I used to center the drawing in the layout is efficient? Why the drawing is centered correctly on the pdf but incorrectly centered in the printed A4 paper?
At times when I am dimensioning a dwg in paperspace one of the dimensions will assume the viewport scale when the dwg does a regen. Its as if the DIMLFAC will be set to something other than 1but its only for one or two dimensions. I check the DIMLFAC var for thje dwg and its set properly to (1). Since I am dimensioning in paperspace i have the DIMASSOC set to (2).
As you can imagine this is a huge problem when I send the dwg out for fabrication. What is the problem and how can I stop this from happening on random dwgs to random dimensions?
unable to select objects after creating them in view port ..i am not able to select them in view port i can only select them either by SELECT ALL or from outliner or Hierarcy
View 2 Replies View RelatedLet’s say you have a large building plan in model space but there is only one small area of the building that the view port is looking at. Is there a way that you can draw around that viewport and then take that into model space and paste it in the same place so now you have the same area located in both views?
At the moment I need to try and work out where the view is by drawing a rectangle around the correct area of the building and this is time consuming.
I could then trim/delete everything else outside that box.
Lisp that would permit Toggling from Paper Space into the same zoomed area within Model Space and vice versa.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI feel like I have a vague memory of once learning how to click on an object in a viewport and being able to click a button or use a command to switch that object to paper space (so that it appears the same size). I'm trying to avoid having to go through the steps to scale down the object once I get it in paper space).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several viewports rotated in paper space. When i set them to let say 1:100 scale go to paper space and then click into viewport it comes back to zoom extends of model space and i have to set it all up again and rotate it.
Second problem is that I've created wipeout in model space when i go to layout (paper space) ti looks just how i want it.
When I go to preview or plot it doesn't recognise any wipeouts?
