AutoCAD LT :: Paper Space View Port Scale
Mar 2, 2012
I have a drawing in model space the i drew to scale of 1'=1' and I went to paper scape to put the drawing in my title block using Viewports. highlighted the viewport and went to properties to give the drawing a scale so it would maximize the Viewport area, on my 22"x34" paper. but under the standard scale 1/64"=1' is too big and 1/128"=1' is too small. the simple solution is zoom extents but then in my title block i have to put NTS. I would like to add to the standard scale or be able to set the customer scale to a whole number. EX. 1:1000 or 1:150, etc. etc.

We have a problem with the view port freeze. When we feeze a layer in the modelspace of a viewport and save the drawing, on re-opening the drawing we find that the layer that was switched off has been switched back on i.e. the saved mechanism does not work.
We have tried copying a view port that works from another drawing into this drawing by that did not work. We have also compared setttings with the drawing that works and the drawing that does not work. But there was no joy.
We think the problem is with the drawing and need a solution preferably with the settings of the drawing. having to redrawing the whole drawing.

I have a drawing with some 3d objects that I display with multiple viewports, in paper space, showing different views of the objects. The viewports themselves are all on one layer that is frozen. Each viewport with a 3d object is set with Visual style: Hidden & Shade plot: 3D Hidden, to hide all lines that should not display for that view and creating a nice clean image in each viewport.
Again, viewport layer is frozen so no viewport borders are displayed. The problem I'm having is that I get random viewport border lines that show up on my plot. It can be paper or pdf. and could be top in one viewport and side in another, etc. I have never had this happen before but it seems to be related to hiding 3d line because I have never had a problem when I didn't.

When I first draw something on a model space and click the Layout1 tab to see paper space.
The default view port size (the red box) looks like the following.
But I want to maximize the view port size such that (for example) the dotted line to be the defualt view port size in the paper space.
Could I do this by code??
I am currently using ObjectARX 2007 in C#.

I'm trying to limit the activity inside a paper space's view port. Specifically text and dimension objects (our routines) as these layers inside the view port may be frozen.
How do I pragmatically get out of the view port back into paper space?

My drawing inb model space looks fine, however when I try to set it up to plot in paper space, via the properties box with the "correct scale factor" and the drawing becomes very large. The only scale I can get the drawing to plot at is "fit to page", which is no scale. I have tried to set the scale on the "page setup" and the same thing happens.

I have been using AutoCad for 2009 and had it all set perfect. Just had a computer melt down and trying to establish everything back how I had it all before.
One little tool that was very useful was a drop down box called, VIEWPORT SCALE CONTROL. I had all my scales in there and used to just click the border in paperspace, click the scale from the drop down box and set your scale. How to get this back.

I am working on an architectural drawing and for some reason when I try to "objectscale" the annotation to the same scale as the view port I am using, it doesn't appear or if it does it is a lot smaller scale than I requested.

I need to have users plot to DWF from paper space so they can retain their customized layers colors etc, on that specific paper space tab, as well as the view via viewport that they like most.
I then am mixing this with FDO data generated out of Model space. Unfortunately, when using the EXPORTLAYOUT command, the data is coped into Model space but seems to retain it's paper space coordinates. I had hoped this function would behave like CHSPACE and copy everything from paper to model space in the same scale.
Is there a way for me to achieve this?

I have an issue with linetype scale. I have a certain part of my drawing with dash lines at a linetype scale of 1000. In Model space it is fine but when I change to Paper Space the lines become solid. I have tried increasing the linetype scale in Model space to compensate for the scale in Paper space but the lines are still solid.

At times when I am dimensioning a dwg in paperspace one of the dimensions will assume the viewport scale when the dwg does a regen. Its as if the DIMLFAC will be set to something other than 1but its only for one or two dimensions. I check the DIMLFAC var for thje dwg and its set properly to (1). Since I am dimensioning in paperspace i have the DIMASSOC set to (2).
As you can imagine this is a huge problem when I send the dwg out for fabrication. What is the problem and how can I stop this from happening on random dwgs to random dimensions?

ACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.

I set up my paper space to A1 size so i have plenty of room to dimention. However, if i measure what AutoCAD has set up as 'A1' then it is 3.2cm x 2.2cm, the atual size of A1 paper is 59cm x 84cm. If i were to print this page on A1 paper it still comes out the right size on A1. I know it doesnt sound too serious but i would like the paper space in the right scale so i can have my text set to the right hight and my bubble reference boxes the right size for when it is printed. (it also does this on all paper sizes, im just using A1 today)

I am trying to setup some pre-made paperspace layouts with legends and details. These will not change from project to project so by doing this ahead of time it can save time provided we can get the line types to display correctly!
How we do things now is we set the global scale factor, GSF, to suit the drawing scale of our floor plan. This is typically 1/4", 3/6" or 1/8" if were working in Imperial units.
The issue in doing this is that when we change the GSF the line types drawn in model space do not display correctly. We could go in and adjust everything manually on each project but this is laborious and time consuming.
Is there a way to set up sheets in paperspace so that they will always display the same regardless of the GSF?
I am using AutoCAD LT 2011.

I do most of my stuff on A3 and have my paper space sheets set up for this no problems. When I have my drawing in paper space i usually set the scale to what I want. Now, when I am still in paper space with my correct scale, I want to change to model space and move or position the drawing exactly where I want it on my sheet , without it going out of scale. I have a very sensitive middle button on the mouse, and when I hold it down to move the drawing around, it goes out of scale I want to lock the scale first before moving the drawing around.

Working in acad2011, I have a 3D model and i did flatshot. The obscured lines I chose to be - - - - - (ISO02W100). Now i have to annotate and get my paper layout rdy for printing.
Questions:
1. Is there a way of scaling lines that make up my flatshot image in model space?
2. How can i scale the lines in paper space?
The - - - - - lines just don't seem right in my paper space.

I want to create a simple scale bar in a paper space layout, that is dynamically linked to the scale of the viewport.
I've searched and come across a few dynamic scale bars on the web and a few forum discussions, but I just can't work out how to create my own from scratch...

I have used the following code in a small app to create named views: LINK_TO_Autodesk_Help_Topic
However...A user of mine tried running the command while in a paper space layout. It appears the view still gets created but only within Model Space.
The help DOES SAY that "a default model space view is created", but how would I specify that I want the view to be created within the "current" layout, either Model or Paper space?
I tried setting the .OwnerID property of the ViewTableRecord to "doc.CurrentSpaceID" but that did not work - no error either.

I have a site survey that I am having rotation issues with.
In the model space the drawing is rotated so when I draw a vertical line it points up (which is what I am used to). However in the paper space, the drawing is automatically rotated so that north is now pointing up, and if I attempt to draw a normal vertical line as i did in the model space the line now points NE.
How can I rotate the view of the viewport in paper space so that my lines as vertical and horizontal. This would not be such an issue if it was just a plan, but I have drawn sections that just look ridiculous.
