Nov 21, 2010I am currently writing a series of routines for setting the layers for text, leaders and dimension commands. The end goal is a system where any annotation command sets the correct layer for the duration of the command, then reverts back to the layer that was active before the command.
I have managed to complete all the code, and it appears to be working fine, I just have one question: I have used -layer "m" "Lay_name" etc... for all layer setting commands, rather than any code to see if the layer exists already. In my limited testing this seems to be suitable, nothing that exists on that layer seems to be affected.
I know how to write code to determine if the layer exists already and set the layer instead, but so far it seems unnecessary??

Nov 10, 2011I want to know if I have understand this correctly or not: layer previous undos the last change in layer related command. Then If my last action is on layer, unod command will do the same. layer previous advantage is when you want to perform an undo which is not your last action.

Jan 10, 2012I have tried to load dbconnect on several 64 bit workstations usinf "dbc" and "dbconnect". In all cases AutoCAD Map 3d stops working. Generally, the workstation just spins and you have to end the program with task manager, but I do have on Win 7 machine that crashes all the way out. There is never an AutoCAD error message or opportunity to report the issue to Autodesk.

Apr 9, 2013Starting a few weeks ago Photoshop CS6 crashes every time when selecting the print command with the error : "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working" This happens using different printers and when printing anything, including a blank page. Printing works fine from other applications.
Running Photoshop CS6 v.13.1.2 x32 on Windows 7 Professional 64bit
This is a Dell Optiplex 990, I7 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD system, AMD ATI RADEON HD 6350 PCIe Video Card on a 16x bus
1) Photoshop has been updated
2) OS has been updated
3) Video drivers have been updated with new ones from the manufacturer
4) I tried new drivers for our Kyocera TaskAlfa 3550ci
5) I tried new drivers for our Kyocera FS-3140MFP
6) I also tried removing all of the printers except "Adobe PDF" printer

We had issues with people dimensioning on the wrong layers and they included an instruction(?) in these custom commands to dimension using the correct layer i.e. current layer set to 'Border', select custom linear dim command and dim is drawn in 'Dimension' layer.
My question is, what to add to the macro in the properties when creating such a command button to do this? ^C^C_dimlinear <add something here to use a specific layer?>
AutoCad 2D :: Change Layer From Command Line?
May 31, 2012At one point I had a layer command that I could select a line, type in the layer I wanted (with no extra prompts required) and it would change. The best part is if the layer didn't exist it would automatically create it (without prompting me Y/N).
Using LAYMCH in the command line is very close. However I have to press N for name, then enter the layer. If it is a new layer, it prompts me Y/N.

Mar 30, 2013I'm trying to delete a unused layer. But when I do that I get the following error (see attachment). I googled a bit and figured out that the LAYDEL command might solve my issue, but as I'm using Autocad 2013, that's not possible, as it doesn't have this command...
The block that causes the error can also be deleted, I tried with the purge command, but must be doing something wrong cause it didn't work. Oh yeah, with regard to the purge command, I see it this way (attachment 2), how can you display it in a window kind of view to get a better overview?

AutoCAD LT :: Set Default Layer Setting In Hatch Command To Use Current
Feb 1, 2012In the hatch dialogue there is a setting to target the hatch to a specific layer. How does one set the default to ALWAYS be "Use Current"?
Attached jpg shows the target layer as ffbrg, but I want that to ALWAYS read "Use Current" when creating a NEW hartch. In other words, I am happily working in a specific layer creating all these hatches and then realize LATER that all the hatches were in different layers causing great confusiion and havoc.

Other layers and color remains the same. If I change color property of "Layer 0" form "By Layer" to a specific color such as red, yellow they are also remain the same.

AutoCad :: Changing Layer Colours Within Viewports At Command Line
Apr 10, 2012I am producing some floor plans which I am having to split into several sheets. I am reusing the overall plan in small scale as a key/location plan (in a seperate viewport).
As the viewport is at small scale I want to make the pens thinner so walls don't come out too thick so I go into the layer manager and change the viewport pen colours and freeze off unwanted layers. Trouble is although I can copy the viewport between sheets and drawings it won't remember the layer settings is there a way that I can either: Set a variable to remember the layer settings within the viewport when copying Write a script to change the layer colours within the viewport and vp freeze the unwanted layers so all the keyplan match between all of my sheets.
The script wouldn't be too much problem for me as I mostly use key commands but when I tried changing the layer colours using -la -> c -> red all the viewports changed not just the current one. Is there a different command to change the viewport colours or is it just not possible from the command line.

I have a question the command prompt.
The line have the name of layer : 0 (default layer)
I create another layer. It's unicode
And I will change name of layer 0 to 도면층1.
But I can not input unicode character to command prompt.
But It was changed from property dialog.
Can I input unicode character from command prompt?.
Previous version(AutoCAD 2008,2009,2010,2012) CAD worked well.

Jun 27, 2012When I use the Layer Isolate command, then use the Layer Unisolate command, everything seems to work fine, as far as displaying the correct layers again. However, when I go to the Layer Manager, I noticed that all frozen or frozen in current viewport are also turned off.
LAYISO set to OFF (use fade?)
This only happens in a maximized viewport, not in model space.

Jul 14, 2013PS 3d WILL NOT handle a standard 3d shape as a layer in a bigger file. If, for example, the surface of a simple cylinder is filled with a color and the file saved (so that the bigger 3d drawing/file/image will update) PS 3D crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME. That is not all. In general the program crashes about as often and unpredicatably as Windows 3.
The machine has 24G of RAM and can see about 16T of hard drive. nvidia 4000 card. Latest driver. Turning off the GPU does not eliminate the crashes. PS 3d gets totally confused and crashes when network connections are exercised so I don't do that. Win7. VERY FRUSTRATING. Makes the program useless. Adobe software updates all current.
AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Using Macro Parameter Contains Space (changing Layer Color From Command Line)
Sep 19, 2013I'd like to change a layer's color from command line because of a user icon. I figured out from previous topics that I should use macro similar to this: ^C^C_filedia;0;-la;s;Verdeckt (ISO);c;1;l;dashed;;_filedia;1;re;
(I want to use this macro to change layer's linetype, too, but that's not the point)
The only problem with this macro: layer's name contains a space therefore Autocad tries to recognize Verdeckt as a command (and macro interrupts there) instead of setting Verdeckt (ISO) as the current layer. I've tried using different quote marks, none of them worked (' and " and <>). I hope there's a method for entering a parameter that contains space.

Aug 23, 2012Starting with X4, I had been using the macro collection "wx_showLayer.gms" found here: URL.... The most useful of those macros is one that automatically makes the layer a newly selected object is on the currently active layer, rigt upon clicking the object. Working with layers a lot, I got pretty much used to that feature; keeping copies of objects on the same layer, for example, can be achieved blindly this way.
For X6 / x64, I had to modify a variable declaration but then the macro worked flawlessly as it did in 32-bit X4. After the service pack / update 6.1, the macro still loaded without a hitch. But soon I found it was the cause for regular crashes which occurred after clicking objects oner two times, or invariably at changing the page. -- Removed the macro from the GMS folder and X6.1 runs like a champ (so far).
