The layer merge command is not working in one particular drawing. But fine in others and new files using the acad.dwt file.Is there a setting that effects the command.

PSP X5 version 15.2.0.12 -- no further update available. -- Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
When I try to merge down (not flatten) the top layer in the attached file, PSP X5 stops working EVERY TIME. I have been using PSP X5 extensively for a while (6 or 8 months) and have never encountered this before. All layers are 100% opaque, so this is not the same as a similar reported error. Also happens in PSP X4. I can work around this by cutting and pasting, but shouldn't have to.

I have been using the MVSetup command to adjust a view port orientation however when I do this the Pickfirst command is changed to 0 - it was only by chance I discovered this and was able to change it back. Also, is there a command to reset all changes made through MVSetup in a viewport ?

then i write full command "Offset" its working, like this many shortcut command are not working (Array, Reactangle, Fillet etc.)
I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command.When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.

The application(autocad-2010) uninstall and then reinstalled the error is continued.
A company I used to work for had a custom set of dimensioning tools in the tool palettes. We had issues with people dimensioning on the wrong layers and they included an instruction(?) in these custom commands to dimension using the correct layer i.e. current layer set to 'Border', select custom linear dim command and dim is drawn in 'Dimension' layer.
My question is, what to add to the macro in the properties when creating such a command button to do this? ^C^C_dimlinear <add something here to use a specific layer?>
Why we don’t have the command “zoom to layer” in the AutoCAD?
In particular cases, we need to zoom to certain layer. Is this possible in the AutoCAD? In the ArcGIS we do have this tool.

When in the hatch command in 2012 I go to select the layer I want to use, but only some of them appear in alphabetical order, and the rest seem to be all over the place making it quite difficult to find the layer I want. I've tried increasing the maxsort figure, but it makes no difference. How to make them appear in the correct order?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to hatch floor patterns in suits. I draw a pline aroudn perimeter. There are a couple of problems.
First, when I do a hatch by selecting the pline ("object"), it doesn't detect islands, such as our room tag. This is likely because the hatch is over an xref (the suite is an xref, room tag and pline are not), and hatches don't seem to like xrefs.
Next option is to hatch by "pick points". When I do that, and select a point on the floor of the suite, all of a sudden an old xref or xclip appears in 2 locations, and the hatch boundary takes the lines from that new xref into consideration. The crazy thing is that this xref does not exist in any form in the drawing. I have purged/audited the drawing, and the drawing no longer even exists in our computer.
This is something I should know as a long time CAD user. I have line of points, ~200 on the screen and I want to draw a polyline through them without selecting each point. I know there was a command to select the first point and the last and ACAD would draw the line between. I am using AutoCAD 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAn example is when I'm drawing a box, line etc and attempt to type "@5,-5", AutoCAD somehow jumps to a window on the side and if I don't notice will restore the window I'm working in and not complete the command I typed ("@5,-5" in this case). If I do notice in time, then I have to pres ESC about 3-4 times, which will then have me back on the command line with the text "@5,-" already typed (as if that was were I paused while typing??). The attached picture shows the dialog box on the top left, and the command line as if I've only typed "@", when after pressing ESC as mentioned the full "@5,-" text becomes visible on the command line?
Also, as a note: I've already ruled out that I'm pressing other keys that could possibly cause this...

Does the command still exist to export a drawing to the 3DS file type? I remember doing it in 2007, but do not remember the command and can not find it in the help files.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust yesterday one of my computers has had it's ctrl+S command making a file read-only. Using the save icon and typing "qsave" work fine. I tried looking at the save options and everything looks ok as well as looking at the shortcut keys in the cui. Everythign looks like all the others that don't have this problem. Is there something I'm missing or has something become corrupted?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the Layer Isolate command, then use the Layer Unisolate command, everything seems to work fine, as far as displaying the correct layers again. However, when I go to the Layer Manager, I noticed that all frozen or frozen in current viewport are also turned off.
LAYISO set to OFF (use fade?)
This only happens in a maximized viewport, not in model space.
The layer control dropdown in the layer toolbar is just showing the state of the selected object or layer 0 if nothing is selected. Same for the ribbon combo. But it's working in the Quick properties dialog.
View 5 Replies View Relatedthis in an issue ive noticed for a long time now across a few versions of ACAD, not sure whats causing it. When i try to draw an XLINE sometimes the command will get locked into either horizontal or vertical mode, without me choosing that option. seems to based on the OSNAP pickpoint i grab maybe.
attached are pics of the process.
i run XLINE, pick endpoint and bam, its locked into horizontal mode, very annoying if im trying to make a vertical and horizontal line based off the same point.
I Have several PC's with 2011..On some machines the layer transparency is not working anymore on screen.90% transparency red is normally light pink but on some machines with the same drawing and the same settings it is 100% full red.A few day's ago there was no problem on those pc's
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy layer filters are not working on the ribbon, why and/or if this is an autocad bug.
I created one for hiding Xref layers, which is an inverted filter. it works on the "Layer Properties Manager" but does not work on my ribbon layer menu. If i turn on the old layer dialog it is working in there.
I know there are many differnt views about the ribbon so i dont need any of the comments telling me to turn it off and get on with it etc.
If you look at the attached images you can see the screen shots of my problem. Note that i have the layer settings correct. Autocad Help says that if the "apply filter to layer toolbar" is on then it will apply this to the ribbon. which it does not.
I am trying to bind an Xref into my working drawing. Whenever I try to perform this command, an error message appears that says "Some objects in the specified Xref(s) failed to bind." No list of objects has been provided. I have tried exploding, purging and auditing both the Xref and the working drawing to make sure there are no extranneous objects in the files, but the message keeps appearing.

It seems like this particular drawing has issues not seen elsewhere.(besides the fact it was badly drawn) After some time playing with all the settings. We turned on the zero layer and then all the nodes were available as usual.
i've been using AutoCad for 20 years and never seen this. Is this some kind of new feature?Can you control the snaps with a layer? WHY?

Also how do i create like a plane which I can draw a flat sketch on which i can set an offset from my first sketch?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an issue using 3D 2010. In my drawing I had a layer for my windows. My windows were nicely put together and design on the window layer. Next thing that happens I turn on my drawing today to come and find my windows are now saved on my viewport layer and the viewport layer took the properties of my window layer. Now last night when I plotted out the drawing I made viewports on a layer for viewports and that was the last layer I had used so it was current. What I want to know is why the hell did the layer dominate my window layer with taking the properties of my window layer. I did not merge them!
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have gotten a drawing from another user and have managed to purge all of thier layers except for one. I have deleted everything out of the drawing, done "select all" numerous times and deleted, but this layer still won't let itself be deleted. I have made sure it is not the current layer, w blocked the whole drawing etc. There was an ole image in this drawing at some stage, could that have left this horrible layer "25L"???

I am currently writing a series of routines for setting the layers for text, leaders and dimension commands. The end goal is a system where any annotation command sets the correct layer for the duration of the command, then reverts back to the layer that was active before the command.
I have managed to complete all the code, and it appears to be working fine, I just have one question: I have used -layer "m" "Lay_name" etc... for all layer setting commands, rather than any code to see if the layer exists already. In my limited testing this seems to be suitable, nothing that exists on that layer seems to be affected.
I know how to write code to determine if the layer exists already and set the layer instead, but so far it seems unnecessary??
I have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
I want to know if I have understand this correctly or not: layer previous undos the last change in layer related command. Then If my last action is on layer, unod command will do the same. layer previous advantage is when you want to perform an undo which is not your last action.
