When I use the Layer Isolate command, then use the Layer Unisolate command, everything seems to work fine, as far as displaying the correct layers again. However, when I go to the Layer Manager, I noticed that all frozen or frozen in current viewport are also turned off.
LAYISO set to OFF (use fade?)
This only happens in a maximized viewport, not in model space.
Using CAD2011, froze, I restarted it and reopened the file I was working in. In my ribbon, all layers read "0", but show the correct ByLayer color according to what layers they were on before the crash. If I list something, it shows the correct layer, and not that it's on "0". When my coworker opens the same file everything is as it should be, which leads me to believe some setting got messed up during this crash.
It is making work way more difficult than it should be - I can't see what layers are what!
Layers are shown in the drop down menu from the ribbon but when I open the layer manager no layers are visible. I can click in the empty space and the layer will highlight. See attached.

Do the people that develop (anti-endusers ) the upgrades ever think like an end user? Having the Layer Properties Manager set up with default filters that show "ALL" layers or "Xref" layers without a default for "Layers Local ONLY" is so counterintuitive and non-user friendly! This is just another example of how Autodesk has absolutely no regard for the end user.

The drop down box does not access as many layers as did the version in 2009, and I find myself continually searching through the drop down box to reference a particular layer. I remember that there used to be a command I used in an older version of AutoCad, such as "Sort Layer" or similar that would populate all of the layers used in a drawing, which solves the problem of not being able to see all the layers. I believe the default value is not set at a high enough number. What this command is?

I searched for a fix but was unable to find a fix. I have updated my graphics card driver but that didnt fix it. I have attached a screen shot to show what it looks like. I am running C3D 2009.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am missing the icons for the "ON/OFF", "FREEZE", and "LOCK" in the Layer Properties Manager in AutoCAD 2010. Recently upgraded computer to 64-bit and had to re-install 2010. Since then, it takes forever to reload the Properties Manager. Adding new layers, trying to turn layers on/off, freeze layers, etc. causes the Manager to reload. The file I am working with is only 75 kb, tiny in comparison to files I usually work with. My co-worker has a 64-bit and 2010 as well, and her Properties Manager is working just fine. Do I have to reload 2010?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with exporting layers from dwg to pdf. Problem is that i can export (or print) drawing but i missing some layers in layer manager in pdf. I have drawing with 150 layers (from other co-workers) but only mine 4 layers doesn't appear. I have check in ACAD in layer prop manager if they are plottable but this is not a problem for content from those 4 layers are exported in pdf but not in layers they have to be (those layers are missing)!

edit: i found out that layers doesn't appear because contetnt on them are only blocks. for eg. block is on layer 1 but contetnt of block is on layer 2 so i see only layer 2 in pdf but not layer 1

I xref'd it into a sheet with Floor plan Layer States,
nowi want to Xref it in again with the Ceiling Plan Layer Staes.
Just to be clear i want the same Xbase Xref'd in a sheet twice with 2 different layer states. how do i do this????
Let's say you create a floor plan, and you use the Layer State manager to separate the framing plan, finish plan, reflected ceiling plan, etc. Now, when you go to create a sheet, you xref this plan into model space with all of the layers thawed/on, go to your titleblock in paper space and make a viewport.
Currently, if I click into a viewport and use the Layer State manager to show just the information of the RCP, it will freeze all of the layers I don't need, but it will freeze those layers in model space, instead of just within the viewport. It gets very time consuming doing it the way I always understood to do it; making sure all layers are thawed/on in model space, and then going into each viewport and manually VP-freezing each layer I don't need.
So can Layer States be set up to work within viewports, to only have those layers VP-frozen?
What is the layer "Status" in the layer property manager? It doesn't correlate with the On/Off or Freeze/Thaw . The icon appears to be a sheet of paper but some are blue and others are gray. I cant tell what makes them change colors from blue to gray.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt happens when you turn on layer manager to adjust each layer settings such as name, line type or color and etc.
Problem is that each layer row disappears and each time it happens, only solution I know is to restart the computer. See the attached image.
Most annoying thing, the VP Freeze and New VP Freeze columns in the Layer Properties Manager keep resetting themselves to original position. I've done all the proflie stuff, re-save it after changing it, re-load it when I find the error, etc.. and still it reverses every time I restart AutoCAD.
What is it with the columns in dialog boxes? I've posted how the column widths in the File Dialog box reset everytime too. How they don't follow windows folder options. Is this some Windows issue or AutoCAD issue?

Layer manager keep loosing the icons that represent a function. When you open layer manager, there are some icons on top of the layer manager page, one functions as make layer current, the other one to create a new layer & so on. these icons after a few time that we use layer command they all disappear, the only way to fix it is to close autocad & open it again. Of course if we use classic layer manager then things are ok but classic layer manage rhas uts own problems & limitations also.
My own guess is that the commad "layer" which invoke layer manager has memory leak, & when it is used a few time basically makes your system works on less memory resources & the only way to fix it is to abort the operation & start every thing all over again.
My ACad2006 Layer Combo Control bar appears to be locked. It will only show the current layer and will not show the layer of an object that is selected with the pickbox. I must have accidentally made a change somehow, but don't know how to undo this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen creating Mtext, I can't figure out how to specify a given height using the ribbon. Clicking on the "A" on the "Home" tab brings up the "Text Editor" ribbon and displays the Mtext editor in the drawing area. On the "Style" panel of the Text Editor ribbon is a drop-down box with a default height of 1/8". Clicking on this drop-down box gives the list, 1/8", 1/4", 1'-6", 1/8", and 3/16". It appears those are my only choices, but I need to make Mtext that is 1'-0" high. If I try to highlight the size selected in the drop-down box and type in 1'-0", AutoCAD erases my typing, replacing it with the 1'-6" choice (or some other member of the preset list). It does this whether or not I have typed text in the Mtext editor, highlighted that text, etc.
If I hover the mouse over the drop-down box, a tooltip comes up that says "Ribbon Combo Box - Text Height / Press F1 for more help." Pressing F1 brings up the Autodesk Exchange window which is blank except for a spinning wheel animation in the center that never stops. The promised "help" never appears.
Right now my only workaround is to create Mtext using one of the heights that AutoCAD has chosen to make available, then select it and change its height using the Properties palette, which may or may not be so easy depending on whether the height I need is very different from the height I was forced to use and the zoom factor of my view (the created mtext might show up as an almost invisible dot, forcing me to play "Where's Waldo" to select it). This is an almost unusable kluge. How can I set the size when creating the Mtext, not afterwards? How is the list of sizes available in the drop-down box determined?
A company I used to work for had a custom set of dimensioning tools in the tool palettes. We had issues with people dimensioning on the wrong layers and they included an instruction(?) in these custom commands to dimension using the correct layer i.e. current layer set to 'Border', select custom linear dim command and dim is drawn in 'Dimension' layer.
My question is, what to add to the macro in the properties when creating such a command button to do this? ^C^C_dimlinear <add something here to use a specific layer?>
Why we don’t have the command “zoom to layer” in the AutoCAD?
In particular cases, we need to zoom to certain layer. Is this possible in the AutoCAD? In the ArcGIS we do have this tool.

When in the hatch command in 2012 I go to select the layer I want to use, but only some of them appear in alphabetical order, and the rest seem to be all over the place making it quite difficult to find the layer I want. I've tried increasing the maxsort figure, but it makes no difference. How to make them appear in the correct order?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere are some layers in my drawing that won't delete in the layers properties manager. I don't know why. It gives me 4 possible reasons:
- It might be layer 0 or a Defpoint (whatever that is).
- It is the current layer
- It is an Xref dependent layer
- It is a layer containing objects
But none of these, to my knowledge, apply. There could be things on the layer that I'm just not seeing, but I've looked thoroughly. I even zoomed out to the extents, highlighted the whole area, and clicked the erase tool, but it still won't go away. I got the file from another computer, so it might be an Xref dependent layer and the Xref'ed files just didn't come with it. How would I be able to tell - and how could I remove the Xref dependency?
Other than that, is there any other reason a layer won't delete? Can I force it to delete?
For printing or mailing purpose, i used to re-open big .psb layer files (2-6GB) in cs5 and cs6 with keybombo "alt" and "shift" while double clicking the document in the finder window (10.6 + 10.7.5), in order to save time.
This is not possible anymore, everytime i open a document this way its white and empty in photoshop.
